PinkChick · 30/07/2007 15:39

my dd 4 yrs 4 months is starting reception in september

ChasingSquirrels · 30/07/2007 15:40

yup, ds1 is - will be 5 at the end of Sep.

haggisaggis · 30/07/2007 15:41

Me - dd starts P1 in 2 weeks time. She'll be 5 end Aug. She will probably be in the same class as ds who will be starting P4.

ejt1764 · 30/07/2007 17:10

My ds will be starting full-time from 4th September - in Derbyn (Welsh language equivalent to Reception class). He'll be 5 in October, and is so ready for this ... he's been doing mornings in the Meithrin of the same school for the past 5 terms, and as far as he is concerned, has already started school (the Derbyn is right next door to the Meithrin) ... I'll be off work on maternity leave after the first week of term, as dc#2 is due in October ...

Jazzicatz · 30/07/2007 17:14

Me Jazzi ds starting in September will be 4.9, think I am more upset than him!!!!

rolledhedgehog · 31/07/2007 16:09

DS starts in September. He will be 4.8 and very ready. I am both happy he is excited and a little sad.

DD starts pre-school in January and I was looking forward to a little time to myself.....but I am expecting another in February so that has put an end to that!

ledodgy · 31/07/2007 16:11

me ledodgy
dd will be 4.5

OrmIrian · 31/07/2007 16:18

Yep. DS#2 will be 4yr 7m.

shouldbe · 31/07/2007 16:23

Me.

Ds is 4 this week so will be 4.1 when term starts in Sept. He'll be going half days till at least January.

fizzylemonade · 01/08/2007 08:56

Me Fizzy

DS1 will be 4.3 and has already attended preschool at the school 5 mornings a week for the last year.

He will do 1 week of mornings only
1 week of mornings and a lunch
then FULL TIME (big fanfare)

I have DS2 14 months so when he is sleeping so will I

I don't understand this deferring malarky, surely it would disadvantage them with regard to everyone already having made friends? Plus lots of people put their children in nursery for longer than school hours. Or I am missing the point?

morningpaper · 01/08/2007 08:58

Me

she is sleeping TERRIBLY at the mo and having LOTS of bad dreams - she is a REAL worrier and I think it is stress, poor thing

Butkin · 01/08/2007 23:16

We're in same situation as Fizzy.

DD (4.5) starts full time from Sept 6th.

She's been going to the nursery at the same school for a year though so used to wearing the uniform (although now wearing the tie will be compulsory after half term when they start wearing the Winter outfit). She loves her summer dress so I'm pleased she can keep wearing it until October. She'd been going to Nursery for longer hours before that so going home at 3.15 will be a breeze for her. She can't wait until January when they start going to the local swimming baths - that will definitely be a highlight of the week.

Wouldn't say anything against somebody choosing to defer but I know that DD has benefited from already knowing many of her classmates in her nursery year and I think she would struggle socially if she didn't go up with them all at the same time.

marymoocow · 01/08/2007 23:36

me. ds2 will be 4.3 and will join his db and ds at the same school. He swings from being really excited to wanting to stay at home with me and go shopping .

We are also getting lots of nightmares and restless nights ( huge big slugs are chasing him apparently )

pointydog · 01/08/2007 23:49

Deferring is FINE. It is only because it so rarely happens in Ingerland that you get all po-faced and pucker lipped about it. Loads of kids defer in Scotland and it is absolutely fine and dandy. No one suffers.

and what the farking hell is wrong with kids?

pointydog · 01/08/2007 23:49

And I don';t know of AnY child who has suffered socially. That is just not the case.

pointydog · 01/08/2007 23:50

And I KNOw I'm getting arsey. No need to tell me

orangehead · 02/08/2007 00:01

ds2 starts reception in sept, will then have time 2 plan my wedding

Pinkchampagne · 02/08/2007 00:08

My DS2 is starting in September, and I feel quite sad about it!
He will be 4.5 & just scrapes in for full time.

DS1 is starting reception in September, afternoons only. He does not like his uniform: there are no pictures of Thomas the Tank engine on it. He will be getting changed in the playground at this rate

I'm in!
DD will be 4.7 and is more than ready for it, far more than I am (PFB! )
She does mornings for a week then mornings and lunch for a week then full-time from 24th September.
Must admit that I'm looking forward to doing more things with DS (who will be 22mths) though sadly he doesn't do shopping!

ricepuddingpaddington · 03/08/2007 10:26

me (was sassy)

dd1 will be 4.11.

zaphod · 03/08/2007 10:28

Me, ds3 will be 5.4. We don't have to start them at 4 in Ireland, unless we feel they are ready.
