Oh god we've started getting the Kipper books and even I have no idea what the story is!

We've got the Getting Up book from Oxford Reading Tree and we are meant to talk about each page and tell the story without words. I am clueless.

The end is that it's the dads birthday and a load of randoms are in the garden but the beginning and middle seem to involve a dirty top getting clean and while the kid trashes its room the parents seem happy. At the end you see the father's back so obviously the characters that seemed like the parents weren't the parents as they look nothing alike.

It's basically a trip with no LSD.

Only twelve that are stage nine. Hopefully we won't get them all but if we do I can countdown from twelve then done.

Oh but there are some classics. Obviously the drunken horse one has already been mentioned but the car race with the bears comes a close second, and the rainbow one is just weird! Grandma was at her subversive best in London and the gnomes in the Underground Adventure clearly run Tolkien a close second!

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 30/09/2017 13:24

I remember there was one with a kidnapping

spanieleyes · 30/09/2017 14:15

I think the kidnappers WAS with the bears, it was Grandma in the car race!
I need to go back and read them again!!

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 30/09/2017 14:30

Those bears are bad influences

spanieleyes · 30/09/2017 14:40

They definitely need watching!

Be strong. Join us at the BiffChiffKip Survivors Anonymous when the time comes. Most people stop screaming after about 10-12 month of group support.

We’ve had oh floppy, no floppy, oh floppy home yesterday for dd; her second book with actual words in. If I remember rightly it was ds’s first word book home.

SleepFreeZone · 03/10/2017 09:52

We've had the haircut now. We liked the haircut. You actually know what's going on!

stargirl1701 · 03/10/2017 16:13

Available on EBay from time to time, OP. Just search for ORT Teacher's Book Stage 1-3. It has an orange cover.

They put the old sheets from the book online but not the notes.

Lol I remember the haircut. Someone had stuck in words on our schools copy and I thought he was supposed to read them... he wasn’t.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 03/10/2017 19:46

On the flip side though it meant that we skipped last ads of books. Sadly ds also skipped orange and the drunken horse.

Hulababy · 03/10/2017 19:49

An ICT teacher, Mr P, does a whole load of commentaries on the ORT books featuring the teacher Mrs May:

6 yr old dd has just read one about a mad professor who took the children on a submarine adventure with the sodding magic key.
The professor was very confused. Dd decided that he had dementia Grin
She's spent too much time with my dgm who does indeed have dementia.

These books are outdated and need a bit of updating. Some of the ones in dd's school are literally falling apart and she can pretty much read anything now so hopefully not too much longer on them.

They give me the rage!

stargirl1701 · 04/10/2017 09:29

Land of the Dinosaurs does not work anymore. The children take Dad's camera on the magic adventure but, when they return, they realise the camera had no film in it.

Cue many confused children. Eh? 😄
