Or have I just started the first one?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes. See my previous post! And our school's an outstanding one, it really is fantastic, with a last distance of less than 300m. You wouldn't think places would become available, but they do.

PastaLaFeasta · 18/04/2016 15:52

ShowofHands, so sorry to hear that. Just hold on and see what the council says, take a deep breath and weigh up the options before making any decisions. Is it possible there has been an error? I'm waiting for a sibling place but in dense London so we walk past five schools on the way, I'm sure it's more complicated in Norfolk with bigger differences. Fingers crossed the waiting lists work out for you.

GreenMarkerPen · 18/04/2016 15:52

there ars always people who are moving, who get their favourite school after being on the waiting list, decide to home school after all...

PastaLaFeasta · 18/04/2016 15:53

Loads can happen, people move away, get jobs abroad, prefer the private school - any chance there are lots of wealthy, would be private school parents in the vicinity?

PastaLaFeasta · 18/04/2016 15:56

I know someone who did have an error in their application but it worked out as once resolved they went straight to number one on the waiting list and got a place before September. It's a top school and you don't stand a chance without a church letter, even living next to the playground.

DadOnIce · 18/04/2016 15:56

You'd be surprised, ShowOfHands. There is a lot of movement in Key Stage One. Three children left the class when my DD was in Reception (a few years ago now!).

No, nobody would give up a place at a good school without anything better to go to, but remember - people will move for work, move for family reasons, sadly some will get divorced and end up moving because of that, and some will have the private option lined up and may not even use the state place they've been given.

Second on the waiting list is nothing. I expect you'll get in.

ShowOfHands · 18/04/2016 15:58

The school we wanted is the best school in the area. Nobody in their right mind would move their child elsewhere voluntarily.

The admissions team confirmed that he was assessed under sibling criteria and gave me the distance of the last child permitted and the position on the waiting list.

The school secretary says we should appeal but what's the point? Seriously, if no mistake has been made and it's just that the school's suddenly hideously popular, we don't stand a chance of being successful.

I can't believe how upset I am. 16 children applied to the school 5 years ago. This year, who knows how many. It was 75 last year. All because of what OFSTED says.

ShelaghTurner · 18/04/2016 15:58

Yes a friend in Herts has hers now so worth logging on if you haven't already.

ShelaghTurner · 18/04/2016 15:59

Sorry SOH Flowers I hope it works out.

ShowOfHands · 18/04/2016 16:00

Three children have left dd's class in 5 years. 14 have joined.

I just don't like our chances.

ShowOfHands · 18/04/2016 16:06

And none of the other local schools are oversubscribed so there will be no movement from that point of view.

It would have to be people moving out of area.

It's not going to happen. We're screwed.

No news yet in Surrey.. Nothing on their website either.

meditrina · 18/04/2016 16:23

Surrey is part of the pan-London system, which is due to go live on the website at 5pm, with emails being sent in batches over the course of this evening (it takes hours to send out the numbers they're dealing with).

MrsHenryWinter · 18/04/2016 16:26

Has anyone in Kent had an email yet?
I'm going crazy with the waiting!

Petal26 · 18/04/2016 16:41

Feeling for you show, I hope you can find a solution.
Thanks to everyone who is mentioning movement on lists.
We got our third choice so have posted the reply back as instructed and asked for the wait list for our first and second choice. Was told on the phone that we will be given no more information about positions on lists or success of 'reconsideration' as they call it, until 13th May. So now need to wait another month as if we haven't waited long enough already...

MissesBloom · 18/04/2016 16:44

Got our offer around 1 ish. Didn't get any of our choices. Was given the local failing school. Gutted.

Highflyingmamma1980 · 18/04/2016 16:48

What area are you MissesBloom? I hate being the last to know. Some one pointed out that failing schools get allot of time and money put into them. Go and have a look at the school if you havent done so already and if you re not happy make sure you are on all the waiting lists. Good Luck.

NotCitrus · 18/04/2016 16:55

Ten minutes to go... what's the betting the website crashes for pan-London+Surrey?

A sibling place should be OK but the school has 90 intake in Y123 and only 60 this year...

MissesBloom · 18/04/2016 16:56

I'm in herts. Was checking all night and day and as someone else mentioned they published the results on the website before they emailed them.
Have seen it. Couldn't stand it. Am now starting to put ds on waiting lists for any good schools around and apparently the council automatically added him on continued interest lists for our preferences that we didn't get into.
Am fully prepared to home school over sending him there it's just not happening.
So gutted can't even put it into words. Don't know what to say to him so am saying nothing and hoping a place becomes available.

PastaLaFeasta · 18/04/2016 17:02

Phew we are in. Just need to sort work for me and after school care. School doesn't make it easier.

PassTheCremeEggs · 18/04/2016 17:03

London is up! We got 4th choice. Better than expected 6th. But now the waiting list game awaits

BigBroIsWatching · 18/04/2016 17:06

Surrey results are in

BigBroIsWatching · 18/04/2016 17:07

First choice for us, but we have a sibling. Thank god that's over!

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 18/04/2016 17:10

Got first choice! So happy, it was a long shot
