Hey LetMebe

Im sutton and still waiting patiently. I applied to 2 sutton schools and 2 merton. I cant take the wait!

Dizzyingly · 18/04/2016 14:15

Got 3rd choice. Gutted. Trying bot to cry in front of ds. 3rd choice was insurance but really dont want it.
We are 2nd on waiting list for 1st choice. What do you think our chances of a space opening up are? It's 60 place intake.

Hersetta427 · 18/04/2016 14:18

Pretty good I would say. I would place a small wager that you will have a place before September.

Hersetta427 · 18/04/2016 14:20

Assiaio - in my herts town no emails yet but offers are showing when you log in.

mrsmortis · 18/04/2016 14:21

Dizzy, three years ago we were 4th on the list for our first choice which had an intake of 30. We got offered a place there in mid-June. You've still got a chance.

drspouse · 18/04/2016 14:23

Spaghetti there may be no point in appealing but it is painless and free to go on a waiting list if you want to.

Thanks Mrs and hersetta. I will try not give up all hope whilst simultaneously getting head round third choice. What a horrible feeling. So sorry for everyone who is a similar position it really is gutting. So much worse than waiting for own results as we all want best for our dcs.

snowgirl1 · 18/04/2016 14:25

We're in Surrey - the outcome email/on-line info is available "during the evening of the 18th". The wait is killing me. I keep logging on to the e-admissions website just in case it's on-line early.

LetMeBe · 18/04/2016 14:27

Thanks tiggy!

Highfly what are your 2 Sutton choices? Our first choice is Manor Park.

Highflyingmamma1980 · 18/04/2016 14:33

My address is actually Morden but im sutton council. Top choice is St Cecilias as thats the church i attend and then St John Fisher in Merton. Fingers crossed. Ive heard Manor Park is lovely. My friend has his kids there. How many choices did you put? I put 4. St Cecilias, John Fisher, St Teresas and St Marys.

DC1, now in Y2, has a friend who was 20-something on the waiting list. She was offered a place a week before term started - several above her turned the place down because the DC were already excited about a different school, had been to inductions, bought uniforms, etc. Another child started in October - one child had simply failed to turn up in September but the school had to keep the place open for a certain number of weeks (till half-term??). The stupid thing was that I knew the family who didn't turn up and knew they wouldn't take up the place; they'd moved out of London during the summer holidays. I even texted the mum to say "er, did you know your DD's name is on the register here?" and she replied "oops, forgot to tell them! Will do so now!" but never got round to it. The HT believed me but couldn't do anything about it; the LA couldn't verify the family had moved out as the child had been sent to private school and was thus not on the LA's school rolls, so it took a while to join up all the dots. In the meantime some other poor child had to start at a school miles away and then transfer (but settled very quickly and is very happy).

Talking to friends elsewhere in the country, they all have similar stories.

ShowOfHands · 18/04/2016 14:40

I just got excited because Norfolk put their online admissions thing back up after days of having it be inaccessible. Nothing on there though. Just a list of preferences.

I jump every time I get an e-mail. From Asda. Or Twitter. FGS. Hurry uuuuupppp.

edwardsmum11 · 18/04/2016 14:41

ShowOfHands can totally relate. Was there on Saturday.

MewlingQuim · 18/04/2016 14:41

I panicked this morning when I dropped DD at nursery and everyone else had heard and I hadn't Shock

Tried to log in the website but had forgotten my username and password, so I've been on tenterhooks all day. Just got the email, first choice, phew Smile

My friend is freaking out. She only put one choice which was an oversubscribed school on the other side of town. She didn't get in. I can't believe she had no back up plan at all Confused

smellyboot · 18/04/2016 14:43

Our school is massively over subscribed - people have go to extremes to get in and are devastated if they don't in April. We are a big urban school.
It also has a huge moving wait list. People sit on offers them move / go private or just don't turn up in Sept. People decide to go with allocated school after all etc
Loads of my DC1 class got their offers in June/July/Sept them Oct and Jan.
My DC 1 class had 4 spaces in it for months as the LA worked their way down the waiting lists and gave people time to decide to move or not.
Then to the area places then come free in Yr1, 2 etc as people move away

Was she one of these people advised by the friend who lives next to the oversubscribed school, that this plan will definitely work out?

DS didn't get into his sister's school.

I physically can't get them to two different schools. Wtf do I do?

Norfolk school admissions has no phone number apparently. Who do I call? How do I know if he's on a waiting list?

Highflyingmamma1980 · 18/04/2016 14:52

Its definitley a risky one to put just one option. I gave 4 and im panicking im not going to get any of them. Hurry up 5pm!

SpaghettiMeatballs · 18/04/2016 14:55

That's what I wondered hensetta although it's a village school in a fairly rural area and triplets are so rare I did think I might have spotted a set at one of the places we have been going since DD was born.

Anyway, I rang the LA ask and the woman on the phone didn't believe me until she checked for herself. She then disappeared off for a while and came back and said it's a typing error. Blush 30 children have been allocated a place.

Feel a bit better about it now I know the class isn't over the legal maximum.

DrSpouse we have requested to go on the waiting list. I think realistically I would only change if a place came up before end of June as I need to sort childcare which is tricky at the school we've been allocated.

We actually really liked the second choice school and DS will all but definitely get a place in 2 years (catchment, live v close and sibling rule) so I'm not in a bad place really.

ShowOfHands · 18/04/2016 14:56

I need to know if DS is on the waiting list and if so if he's number 982. I need to know if I have to withdraw his sister from the school she's been at for 5 years.

Who do I call? Do the schools hold that kind of information?

I can't stop crying.

DD loves her school and I'm going to have to pull her out.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 18/04/2016 14:57

Cross post showofhands I'm really sorry. That sounds really harsh.

Can't you ring the normal council number and ask to be put through so at least you can find out the distance for the last child admitted and ask about waiting list?

Believeitornot · 18/04/2016 15:06

Is before school care an option for one so you can get them to both schools then just stick one on the waiting list Show? I wouldn't make any decisions just yet.

We are looking at our two being at different schools (ten minute drive between them) and won't move until the next academic year if looking likely that ds can't be moved to his sisters school. We don't know our place yet as waiting for snail mail.

alwaysalaughtobehad · 18/04/2016 15:29

Phew! Had to wait till now but we got our first choice. It was not v likely as it's out of catchment. I am sooo happy and relieved! Showofhands can you appeal? I'm no expert but I thought siblings usually got in?

MTWTFSS · 18/04/2016 15:46

2 friends I know in Hertfordshire know what schools they were allocated.

ShowOfHands · 18/04/2016 15:47

There is no before or after schools provision here. I have to be in two places at the same time which is impossible so my options are:

Remove dd from her lovely school where she has been for 5 years, is settled and has friends and put her in the shit, failing school down the road with her brother.

Home school ds.

We're second on the waiting list apparently. But surely that means nothing. Nobody's going to give up a place at a good school are they?
