Thanks MissesBloom we may be treated differently as didn't apply direct to them, but hope it comes soon!

EllieinDevon · 18/04/2016 11:24

I have, Cumberlover. Where in Devon are you?

Cumberlover76 · 18/04/2016 11:29

In West Devon, but applied to Plymouth as lived there at application deadline, then moved out of the city before the allocation date so were told by Devon was fine but that they would email decision. I'll phone them if i don't get anything by 1pm.

NewtoCornland · 18/04/2016 11:33

I almost feel like I'm invading on you all but I'm sat at home, post night shift with DS and have nobody here who cares Grin so I will share with you!

Got first choice hoorah! It really was making me nervous as, due to our rural location, we didn't fall into the catchment area of any of our closest schools Confused and could have ended up with any one of the 3!

Got the email at 4am, brightened up my very heavy night!

BearGryllsHasaBigRope · 18/04/2016 11:34

Does anybody know if it's worth appealing to a catchment school 0.3 miles away that didn't offer a place? I'm trying to work out whether to appeal or not after getting none of our choices and being offered a school that 'requires improvement', or whether to just see what the waiting lists show.

PastaLaFeasta · 18/04/2016 11:36

I vaguely recall it being 5pm to log on but the email was a while later. I emailed a friend who was waiting too so might have a search to check the time. We're picking DC1 up from after school club so will be home at 5 or just before, I'll be racing home. It was worse with a first child as no sibling priority. Fingers cross for everyone waiting.

Stokey · 18/04/2016 11:41

This happened to DB a couple of years ago Bear, they didn't get any of their 6 choices and got offered a school 3 miles away (very far for London) in a different area.

When the criteria came out, it emerged that all the schools in catchment either had higher numbers of siblings, church goers or people nearer than them. Their nearest school was a 1 form entry that had 19 siblings and so only 11 places available.

I would think you may be in a similar situation. I'd apply for waiting list places and hope for the best.

Gizlotsmum · 18/04/2016 11:45

Bear I would ring and find out where you are on the waiting lists of the schools. I believe there is a second offer date in May ( once people have accepted places) so it may be that gets you in. I would also be gathering data for your appeal as I think that needs to go in soon. You need to find out what the last place offered for each school had so sibling? Looked after kid etc? Good luck

NormaSnickers · 18/04/2016 11:46

Still waiting here in Norfolk, website says emails will be sent out "during the afternoon" and I think I can log in to the portal mid-afternoon too. Am seeing a friend this afternoon, I'll have to warn her that I'll be glued to my phone until the news comes through one way or the other! PFB here so no sibling but we are well within last years catchment and I think school was undersubscribed last year so not feeling too anxious - would just like it confirmed so I can forget about the whole thing for a while! Fingers crossed for everyone else still waiting.

ShelaghTurner · 18/04/2016 11:47

I was less worried about my A level results Hmm 5 hours-ish!

BearGryllsHasaBigRope · 18/04/2016 11:53

Gizlots I've rang everyone and nobody is giving out any information about the last person offered a place. Apparently the only way that will be looked in to is if I appeal. I don't even know what my grounds would be, that we are catchment is all. I can't think of any other reasons.

Bear - what area are you - maybe someone local can also offer advice? Our LA posted the furthest distances for cat 4 today on line. Ie distance for DC who are not LAC, SEN or siblings.
You'll have no idea whether you are near top of wait list etc without the info - they should also tell you that. I think the person you spoke to gave you duff info

Cumberlover76 · 18/04/2016 12:33

I gave them until now and phoned as couldn't bear it and the lady said as far as her system says dd has been allocated our first choice! Yay. Just need official confirmation now, but that's all good :) Thought it would take ages to get through but phone line was not that busy.

Good luck for those still waiting.

BearGryllsHasaBigRope · 18/04/2016 12:37

I'm in Essex. I rang appeals (again) and they said it's worth putting an appeal in to find out the information, so I've done just that, and while I don't expect it to be successful at least I'll know I've tried. I'm keeping everything crossed that we'll be near the top of the list due to our distance from the school, but it's an incredibly popular school so there's no telling. The next furthest school away (0.8 miles) will also hopefully have us at a reasonable place on their list when lists are released in a few weeks.

Congratulations to everyone who got the schools they wanted, and Thanks for anyone else doing the same as me today.

ShowOfHands · 18/04/2016 12:39

Norma, I'm in Norfolk too and waiting. Last time the e-mail came after 3 o'clock. The school was undersubscribed then. Now it's massively oversubscribed and I'm nervous.

starpatch · 18/04/2016 12:41

We are in London the eadmissions said 5pm now it has been changed to 'the evening of the 18th'. Aaaargh! Looks like it may be a long evening!

tryingtocatchthewind · 18/04/2016 12:51

We managed to get into our out of catchment school, phew.

Flowers to all of you now on a long journey of waiting lists and/or appeals

SquirmOfEels · 18/04/2016 12:53

That doesn't sound too good. I wonder if they have tech troubles at the moment, or if they're just trying to head off at least some people from loggin in on the dot of 5pm, and causing their whole site to fall over?

(Emails are always spread out over the course of the whole evening, because it takes that long to send that many out without overwhelming systems, but you can usually log on from the stated 'go live' time. I suppose you'll just have to keep trying through the evening if it won't let you log on at 5:01!)

SpaghettiMeatballs · 18/04/2016 13:31

Our council have published all the distances and criteria for last child offered. We have missed our first choice by 300 metres which is a shame but I can't see that it was an unfair decision so no point appealing. We are the only people we know who didn't get their first choice.

I have, however, just noticed that the second choice school we've been offered has a PAN of 30 but 32 places have been offered. I thought PAN only got increased to take account of multiple births. Does anyone else know why it appears there will be 32 children in my DD's class? I'm not sure how I feel about that.

LetMeBe · 18/04/2016 13:37

Hello still no news for for my DS :( I'm in Sutton. Anyone else from here know when we will be sent email? Is it 5pm?

assiaio · 18/04/2016 13:49

Has anyone from Hertfordshire gotten their allocation email yet?

Hersetta427 · 18/04/2016 13:52

Herts emails don't go out till 4pm

Hersetta427 · 18/04/2016 13:58

Spaghetti. maybe the last child who was offered a place was a triplet (then their siblings automatically have to be admitted to take the school over PAN).
