Hiring a nanny just for school runs (morning + afternoon)

I simply can't get the hang of morning school runs. The little one isn't that troublesome these days about getting his clothes sorted and on + shower and brushing his teeth has become a breeze. The problem is I wake up in the morning and simply can't get myself together. No number of espressos can help me and most recently I made us late by losing my phone. Where was it? In the cat food bowl when I thought I had given the cat food... Instead I gave her my phone. As a new mum I'm thinking that since our son isn't too much of a handful these days maybe getting someone in is the answer?

Does anyone else have someone to help with 9am morning school runs? How much do they help out? Do they get your little one ready too?

Everyone seems very hung up on our financial status... Is it really THAT fascinating?

@Another: I live in SW so will look up tomorrow. I am now thinking whether a nanny vs nursery. Both have pros and cons. Going to nursery then we still need a nanny to drop the baby, then the elder at school then pick up both. So maybe a nanny with a prep is nice!

BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 21:21

the cat ate it

MaudGonneMad · 07/01/2016 21:21

This website suggests otherwise, haha

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 21:23

Perhaps the unpleasant attitude you've seen from nursery mums can be attributed to them viewing you as a bit of a 'mail order bride' or 'arm candy'.

Are you ever tempted to do something to prove them wrong? Do you have any interests or ambitions?

PP probably had a point that lack of stimulation during the day can cause disordered sleep.

BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 21:24

the age of consent in haiti is irrelevant though if you met in London?

Shakey15000 · 07/01/2016 21:24

Other people's finances are always fascinating Smile

RudeElf · 07/01/2016 21:25

I moved out to England with her but had met my husband in Hyde Park funnily enough when he was walking his dog after my mother and I moved here after being in Haiti for two years (occasionally coming to the UK to see my mum). My parents are divorced and i was staying with my father and his relatives (mostly his relatives since he traveled a lot). He was ill and I decided to spend time with him, then came to the UK with my mother

This feels like talking to a two year old.

Your timeline isnt clear at all.

SKLily · 07/01/2016 21:26

BYO: I abide by the laws in the country I reside in or was residing in. In my mind it was illegal for my to have sex until 18

Maud to be fair the website you isn't to gives no references for their facts and the last lest UN stats they quote are from 2002. The law may well of changed. The Wikipedia article references the US govt report on Human Rights from 2010.

Floggingmolly · 07/01/2016 21:28

You're prepared to spend upwards of twenty grand pa making sure your two year old isn't late for nursery? And you're a SAHM? who lives next door to the Science Museum Confused

SKLily · 07/01/2016 21:29

Shakey I guess my next topic should be a comparison of all our Birkins and how many diapers you can fit in yours? The 35 can fit a good 6-7 if i do say so myself

You met your husband in hyde park when you were 18 and then you and he both went to Haiti to see your dad and got married in Haiti whilst there?

Gazelda · 07/01/2016 21:30

OP, I'm trying to ignore the inconsistencies (which are actually irrelevant to your original question, although intriguing nonethless). So, I went back to your first post and noticed that you seem to knock back a fair few espressos. Can I suggest you stop that habit, it will help your sleep pattern (and blood pressure) enormously.
But I must be honest, I'd love to know more about your life that you said we wouldn't believe if you told us - it sounds so exciting!

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 21:30

Also why do you have loads of friends who graduated from Imperial? Did you go to Imperial?

Figwin · 07/01/2016 21:32

Sorry, one more question that might clear up the timeline. How long after meeting DH did you get married?

SKLily · 07/01/2016 21:32

I love how everyone assumes my husband pays for everything too... Hmmm... Alrighty then

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 21:33

And when did the earthquake happen? Before you went To Haiti? Or while you were there?

Floggingmolly · 07/01/2016 21:33

So how much do you earn as a SAHM, then?

SKLily · 07/01/2016 21:34

May I just had a lot of friends from Barbados who came to England for uni and went there, plus so did my cousin. I'm 18, I didn't go to uni since I settled down instead

OP posts:
BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 21:35

the timeline is very confusing as it sounds like you were back in UK.

Anyway, it's kind of irrelevant to the question of the mornings

agree that having too much caffeine can mess up your sleep as well

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 21:36

Oh now you're 18 again Confused

Shakey15000 · 07/01/2016 21:36

Well to be honest I've never spent more than a tenner on a bag (I assume it's a bag??) And any nappies got lobbed in the bottom of the pram Smile

Let's compare earnings. I'm on £73.10 per week (JSA) What do you earn?

SKLily · 07/01/2016 21:36

I don't EARN I get paid dividends from properties in Barbados. Hotels if everyone is SO intrigued... Owned by my mothers family (her and her siblings) I hold 10% shares in one and 17% in the other
