Hiring a nanny just for school runs (morning + afternoon)

I simply can't get the hang of morning school runs. The little one isn't that troublesome these days about getting his clothes sorted and on + shower and brushing his teeth has become a breeze. The problem is I wake up in the morning and simply can't get myself together. No number of espressos can help me and most recently I made us late by losing my phone. Where was it? In the cat food bowl when I thought I had given the cat food... Instead I gave her my phone. As a new mum I'm thinking that since our son isn't too much of a handful these days maybe getting someone in is the answer?

Does anyone else have someone to help with 9am morning school runs? How much do they help out? Do they get your little one ready too?

I was just touchy about someone implying my husband was with me when I was 17, which is illegal and I got a bit defensive.

Not illegal as far as i know.

Figwin · 07/01/2016 21:03

ahem

Mandzi34 · 07/01/2016 21:04

Is school close to where you live?

BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 21:05

17 isn't illegal is it? i thought you could get married at 16?

Anyway, I think you need to reassess your sleep patterns and accept that you will need to go to sleep earlier and have time with your dh at another time. i was always a night owl pre kids but i can't stay up so late any more or i just wouldn't function.

or you could try and nap after school run?

and i agree that you should see your gp

RudeElf · 07/01/2016 21:06

The cover ups slip ups wrt age of OP and children now makes sense if OP wrongly believed her husband had been with her illegally and she didnt want to get him in trouble.

DancingDinosaur · 07/01/2016 21:07

OP how is your child only 2 if you had him aged 18, and you are 23 tomorrow?

Time travel.

RudeElf · 07/01/2016 21:09

How does a 17 18 year old from barbados manage to marry a 32 year old british man? Did you meet online? Or had you moved to britain for some reason?

Shakey15000 · 07/01/2016 21:09

Private doctor for sure to rule out any medical reason. Though personally I'd wager it's because you go to bed far too late and possibly don't have enough mental stimulation during the day. I know gym sessions are recommended for various MH conditions but I see you already do gym. How's your diet?

Should any thyroid, MH issues or A.N Other medical issues be ruled out then I think it boils down to late nights, laziness and disorganisation. As a pp mentioned, you could BOTH do the school run.

FWIW Legal age of consent in the UK is 16.

If you really want a nanny for your 2 yo or however old they are, please make sure you employ a CRBed professional with good references. If you are unsure as to how to go about this, use an agency. You will probably get plenty of change from £20/hr even through an agency! Our nanny is CRB checked, ofsted registered and holds a current paediatric first aid qualification. Don't just use a student, taxi driver or someone off the Internet without knowing exactly what you are doing!

Regardless of how old you actually are, in the nicest possible way you sound flaky. Your posts don't add up. This is why you are getting the kind of responses you are getting.

Figwin · 07/01/2016 21:13

I'm not saying this is not real but it does have a twinge of a hint of a young American with google maps open.

AnotherNewt · 07/01/2016 21:13

"I thought the earliest age is 3, apparently I was wrong. So some private prep started earlier than 3, then whats the earliest?"

I don't know what the absolute earliest it, but I can readily think of several central and SW London pre-preps whose integrated nursery classes start at 2yr6m, and I know there's one at 2yr3m.

SKLily · 07/01/2016 21:13

Please everyone refer to where I lived which was the Caribbean! I'm from Barbados and lived in Haiti from 16-18. Please bother to find out the legal age of consent there. Plus for us to get married without parental permission I would have needed to be 18 anyway. And if anyone wants to know what I was doing in Haiti I was living with extended family.

Figwin · 07/01/2016 21:15

What was he doing in Haiti is what we want to know

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 21:15

Sorry, you live next to the science museum? Confused

Figwin · 07/01/2016 21:16

You can start nursery anytime, free hours start at 3 yrs (2 for certain circumstances which this is not)

MaudGonneMad · 07/01/2016 21:16

The legal age for marriage in Haiti is 15 for girls (just saying).

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 21:16

Well this is getting less weird as it goes along. Not.

BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 21:17

Well none of that has been said before so how was anyone supposed to know?

I don't know if you have a health issue that makes you so tired, need to sort out your sleep routine or are just immature tbh

SKLily · 07/01/2016 21:17

shakey I'm half British and hold a British passport since my mother is British. I moved out to England with her but had met my husband in Hyde Park funnily enough when he was walking his dog after my mother and I moved here after being in Haiti for two years (occasionally coming to the UK to see my mum). My parents are divorced and i was staying with my father and his relatives (mostly his relatives since he traveled a lot). He was ill and I decided to spend time with him, then came to the UK with my mother

Figwin · 07/01/2016 21:17

Ooooh maud you're amazing

Figwin · 07/01/2016 21:19

So you were like 15 when you met him? He was 29?

SKLily · 07/01/2016 21:19

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_North_America#Haiti

For whoever said it was 15 haha

ijustwannadance · 07/01/2016 21:19

Is it like Mrs Merton where she asked Debbie McGhee, "So, what was it that first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?"

Figwin · 07/01/2016 21:20

What happened to his dog?

Shakey15000 · 07/01/2016 21:21

That's nice. Though I'm not sure what that's got to do with my last post Confused Perhaps you've replied to the wrong poster. Anyhow, are you going to see a private doctor?
