Hiring a nanny just for school runs (morning + afternoon)

I simply can't get the hang of morning school runs. The little one isn't that troublesome these days about getting his clothes sorted and on + shower and brushing his teeth has become a breeze. The problem is I wake up in the morning and simply can't get myself together. No number of espressos can help me and most recently I made us late by losing my phone. Where was it? In the cat food bowl when I thought I had given the cat food... Instead I gave her my phone. As a new mum I'm thinking that since our son isn't too much of a handful these days maybe getting someone in is the answer?

Does anyone else have someone to help with 9am morning school runs? How much do they help out? Do they get your little one ready too?

Lighten up Mel.

We put quite a lot of time and energy into trying to understand her posts and help yesterday. You can't ban people from cracking a few jokes when it turns out to be contradictory.

Paris? The 2 yr old or the 4 month old? Confused

The Shangri La hotel, no less.

fidel1ne · 08/01/2016 23:12

Where else?

DancingDinosaur · 08/01/2016 23:27

Paris? The 2 yr old or the 4 month old?

Neither. The cat. And the dog.

SKLily · 08/01/2016 23:43

Fastday thanks for the interest, it was just some Hermes shopping and Nespresso. Nothing crazy? Just stuff I've wanted for a bit

No fish?

IPityThePontipines · 09/01/2016 10:59

Dear OP, who does the arm in your pet photo belong to?

wineoclockthanks · 09/01/2016 13:23

I wondered that too Ponyipines!

Vixxfacee · 09/01/2016 13:26

It's her arm. She's a white bajan.

Figwin · 09/01/2016 13:28

Why can't that be her arm?

Havingafieldday · 09/01/2016 16:33

She's wearing a Cartier love bangle in the pic (along with a hair elastic) , they cost a bloody fortune - it's a genuine thread

Floggingmolly · 09/01/2016 16:40

You can get knock off versions for under a hundred quid, that's hardly proof positive.

Figwin · 09/01/2016 16:41

Your mum's a love bangle

Figwin · 09/01/2016 16:41

Sorry wrong thread

fidel1ne · 09/01/2016 16:43

Your face is a knock off Cartier Fig

Havingafieldday · 09/01/2016 16:43

You can, that's true but with all she has said I reckon it's genuine dreams of one day being able to afford one

SKLily · 10/01/2016 00:02

floggy do you want me to post hallmarks? It's just a bit of effort. But you're being a tad rude. The matching ring is easier to show hallmarks of but take your pick.

And fig thanks for acknowledging there can be WHITE West Indians although most seem to assume otherwise? You're a star

Having if you get one, buy it in harrods with your harrods card (get those points!) I made the mistake of getting mine in the boutique in Sloane Square, though they were a great help!

OP

Did you realise that there are 10.1 million individuals in the UK who earn less per YEAR than your bracelet cost? See www.ifs.org.uk/wheredoyoufitin/ (I assumed council tax of £1kpa when putting in the example) that should give some perspective!

For the record, I don't find you unbelievable (but then the clients at my old company were your demographic) just very other-worldly as you live in a bubble. Plus I understand that you did not mean to be inconsiderate or upset anyone, I think you just came across that way because you don't understand how normal people's lives work. But honestly, I do wish you and your little ones the best, they are very lucky to have a mother who is so financially secure.

PassTheCremeEggs · 10/01/2016 09:07

This is one of the most extraordinary threads I've ever come across. I assumed it wasn't true but now the bracelet makes me think it is, which is even more unbelievable than the idea of someone making all this up just for fun. I grew up in a fairly privileged environment but this is just another world. £20k+ for someone to take your child to nursery because you can't get out of bed on time Hmm

FrankUnderwoodsWife · 10/01/2016 09:43

I believe this is a genuine person and a real thread.

I live relatively close to where the OP lives, and have friends with a lot of money. The difference is they're not spoilt like the OP.

Yes they have nannies and housekeepers, but you see them on the school run daily. They acknowledge how fortunate they are to have money, and instill strong morals in their children, reminding them of the fortunate position they're in and insisting on good manners and irreproachable behaviour.

They are loving and kind, and don't treat the people they employ like "staff".

The OP has no class. Yes she is young but her personality is lacking. No wonder she has few friends at her child's nursery.

Maybe when she grows up she will look back at this period in her life and cringe.
