Hiring a nanny just for school runs (morning + afternoon)

I simply can't get the hang of morning school runs. The little one isn't that troublesome these days about getting his clothes sorted and on + shower and brushing his teeth has become a breeze. The problem is I wake up in the morning and simply can't get myself together. No number of espressos can help me and most recently I made us late by losing my phone. Where was it? In the cat food bowl when I thought I had given the cat food... Instead I gave her my phone. As a new mum I'm thinking that since our son isn't too much of a handful these days maybe getting someone in is the answer?

Does anyone else have someone to help with 9am morning school runs? How much do they help out? Do they get your little one ready too?

How come I don't meet any rich men in Hyde park Sad

How did you meet SK? Any tips?

fastdaytears · 07/01/2016 22:37

Maybe for £20 an hour I'd also want coffee making and a pep talk about achieving my dreams.

OP please tell us you have huge birthday plans. Are they closing a hotel for you?

Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:38

Thru are you 18? That might be key

Tartecitron · 07/01/2016 22:38

I agree with honeymom. A live in nanny sounds like the perfect solution, and I'm sure with your home where it is you would have sufficient space to still allow everyone privacy. She could take on the night waking duties with your baby, freeing up your dh to sleep. (He sounds like a top chap btw)

Just an aside though, DH walks the Cavalier yet you want to pay someone to take your DS to school. Perhaps you could pay a dog walker and DH walk his son to school instead?

The priorities seem a little off tbph..... Perhaps children weren't for you....Just a thought...

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 22:38

I go for a walk in Hyde park every lunchtime, Thru. There is an abundance of men in their thirties walking their dogs who make loads of money working American hours from home. You must be doing it wrong.

DancingDinosaur · 07/01/2016 22:39

You don't want much do you fast. Cheapskate.

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:40

Have you got one too maybe? Does yours do nightfeeds? Are they all new men just milling around?

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 22:41

No, he's too busy walking our dogs and collecting dividends on our hotel franchise.

Artandco · 07/01/2016 22:41

We go to Hyde park most days. I'm usually too busy stopping a small child scooting into the serpentine to look for rich dog walkers. Or my 4 year old is going semi mental because a random dog sniffed him which he doesn't like.

sugar21 · 07/01/2016 22:44

maybe I work in an hotel are you my boss?

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 22:45

I fear not sugar, I am a PA.

Only1scoop · 07/01/2016 22:48

Money talks....

Wealth whispers....

SssshhhhhWink

sugar21 · 07/01/2016 22:48

Ah ok so I'm off the hook as I am working having a quiet evening

SKLily · 07/01/2016 22:49

Really didn't realise how foreign my lifestyle was... Thanks to those of you that actually helped. No more mothers brunches at Urban Retreat? Boo.

Glad to have been of help Smile

Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:50

Have a lovely birthday tomorrow! I hope you get a fish to complete the set! Or would that be a mouse?

Floggingmolly · 07/01/2016 22:51

It's not foreign, op. It's just... not actually real

YouBastardSockBalls · 07/01/2016 22:51

Quoi..?

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 22:52

Imaginary lifestyles are like that!

thegiddylimit · 07/01/2016 22:52

Seriously, I was -ahem- 20 years older than the OP when I had my youngest (a month early) just a few days after my eldest started school and I found the school run a nightmare that first year and when my lovely friend offered to take the eldest to school or pick her up it made such a difference. I have managed to hold down a professional job for years, had no PND, but did find getting 3 children under 5 out of the house by 08.20 a bloody nightmare and it took (and still does take) a lot longer than half an hour despite clothes being laid out, the breakfast table being laid etc etc. And that was with help from DH. So I can see how the OP might be struggling, especially if she has had issues with depression before.

OP, I'd agree with PPs who say get to a doctor and get your health issues sorted so you can function a bit better.

BuffyTheSpikeLayer · 07/01/2016 22:53
Hmm I'm calling bullshit. Sorry.
DragonsCanHop · 07/01/2016 22:53

Happy birthday for tomorrow Cake Flowers

FairNotFair · 07/01/2016 22:57

I'm loving this thread. Loving it. Smile

OllyBJolly · 07/01/2016 22:59

People are making some nasty and uncalled for insinuations on this thread - and some nice supportive people too.

It's quite possible to land lucky in life, inherit shares, meet and marry the love of your life, have children and be comfortable enough to opt out of paid work. Surely we should respect how other people choose to live if it's not harming us in any way?

The OP is looking for help in organising the morning school run. I was a working single parent, very demanding job, and that hour before we left in the morning was the most stressful hour of my day. I didn't even have to give the DCs breakfast or get them to school, just to the childminder who fed them, transformed their haystack hair, straightened ties and I took all the credit "How do you manage it?" My tiny bit was tough enough!

The OP has a toddler and a baby and the wherewithal to provide employment to someone else. If that's the solution, she is perfectly at liberty to do that.

OP - you are giving away a lot of personal, almost identifiable information - I'd counsel you to be a bit more careful.

Have a good birthday tomorrow.

FlatOnTheHill · 07/01/2016 23:00

Is this a fekking joke thread Hmm
