Hiring a nanny just for school runs (morning + afternoon)

I simply can't get the hang of morning school runs. The little one isn't that troublesome these days about getting his clothes sorted and on + shower and brushing his teeth has become a breeze. The problem is I wake up in the morning and simply can't get myself together. No number of espressos can help me and most recently I made us late by losing my phone. Where was it? In the cat food bowl when I thought I had given the cat food... Instead I gave her my phone. As a new mum I'm thinking that since our son isn't too much of a handful these days maybe getting someone in is the answer?

Does anyone else have someone to help with 9am morning school runs? How much do they help out? Do they get your little one ready too?

Maybe OP will be back when her DH starts work at 12.30

BlueSmarties76 · 08/01/2016 12:25

In all fairness to the OP, although her posts were quite confusing and contradictory in places, is not unbelievable to be young 20's, married to a 32yr old, 2 young kids, moved around a lot between w indies and uk, rich family, living near exhibition road, kid at nursery school. To me, she just comes across as being quite scatterbrained.... Also, the fact that she knew about Mews in the area would make it unlikely that she doesn't live in that sort of neighbourhood as Mews are not a very commonly known about thing outside of rich bits of London.

I know that area and there are far more unbelievable people than her around!

Owllady · 08/01/2016 12:30

I wish I could get a job doing nice stuff that pays £20 an hour :(
I think you are all jealous Wink :o

Is it Emma? Though Emma lives on a safari park

SoWhite · 08/01/2016 12:45

I'm convinced its real. Her scatterbrain posting style definitely fits someone complaining of organisational difficulties.

The OP sounds sooo much like the wealthy Russian I know. Shares in Grandad's mine. I met shedloads of people like the OP at uni - notably an English student who became a 'freelance journalist' writing one article every 6 months about F1 so that she could hop back and forth from Chelsea to Monaco.

The City is full of them.

BikeRunSki · 08/01/2016 12:48

Being pedantic (and I do believe this thread), if you live in a mews near the Science Museum, then surely you're in South Kensington rather than Knightsbridge. I know the area pretty well, I went to school across the road from the Natural History Museum, definitely South Ken. My parents took us, obviously with 4 DC they'd had plenty of practice!

BlueSmarties76 · 08/01/2016 13:29

I think if you lived around say, Ennismore Gdns you could say it was next to the museums and would prob call it South Ken but could be forgiven for calling it Knightsbridge as it is pretty close. Though I think the OP actually said 'South Ken / Knightsbridge'. But I can't be bothered to check as this thread has too many pages now!

Floggingmolly · 08/01/2016 13:40

I know about the Mews in the area and I don't live in it, BlueSmarties Confused. Op will have to try a lot harder than that to be remotely credible.

ChessieFL · 08/01/2016 13:45

I live in Somerset, I know no rich people and I know about mews in London!

SoWhite · 08/01/2016 14:56

OP did indeed say South Ken/Knightsbridge. I took the SK in her username to stand for South Ken too. Could be reaching though.

CruCru · 08/01/2016 15:01

This is an interesting thread. I do know quite a few SAHMs who have full time (40+ hours a week) nannies.

OP, if you are looking for a nanny, I recommend either Imperial Nannies (my maternity nurse was registered with them) or Eden Nannies (a friend was impressed with them).

From the OP (and the rest of the thread), I wonder whether the OP may be depressed (PND or not) or a bit isolated. The sort of hours her husband works / wants her available would make it hard for me to join in with preschool etc. If you want / need to stay up until 1am to see your husband, would you consider going to bed at 10pm at least a couple of nights OP?

Figwin · 08/01/2016 15:02

Omg if your really debating that. Here... From a Londoner born and bred it's right on the edge

claracluck1978 · 08/01/2016 21:10

How was your birthday OP?

fastdaytears · 08/01/2016 21:34

The OP MUST be awake by now. I need to know what presents she got.

Figwin · 08/01/2016 21:36

She might be out celebrating

fidel1ne · 08/01/2016 21:39

We might have worn her out completely with our leg-pulling yesterday.

I really need to know what age she decided to be.

redstrawberries101 · 08/01/2016 22:39

Think people are getting a bit carried away with taking the mick out of the poster.. It's quite sad to see people have so much time on their hands to diss someone. Grow up!
