Hiring a nanny just for school runs (morning + afternoon)

I simply can't get the hang of morning school runs. The little one isn't that troublesome these days about getting his clothes sorted and on + shower and brushing his teeth has become a breeze. The problem is I wake up in the morning and simply can't get myself together. No number of espressos can help me and most recently I made us late by losing my phone. Where was it? In the cat food bowl when I thought I had given the cat food... Instead I gave her my phone. As a new mum I'm thinking that since our son isn't too much of a handful these days maybe getting someone in is the answer?

Does anyone else have someone to help with 9am morning school runs? How much do they help out? Do they get your little one ready too?

If you go with the £20ph+ plan you could probably get a multilingual nanny and write carrier bag translation into her duties OP.

Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:29

You really should get a fish OP

sugar21 · 07/01/2016 22:29

Grin Grin

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:29

Of course, if you time-travel, there's no need to ever pay for carrier bags.

DancingDinosaur · 07/01/2016 22:29

Why are you flattered that people think your dog is young? Does its youthful good looks reflect on you?

SandunesAndRainclouds · 07/01/2016 22:29

Having looked at the house prices in SW7, I'm thinking if you can afford to live there you can probably afford a nanny and a butler. Just staff, generally.

I also have low blood pressure - I've been known to tick along at 70/40. It has never stopped me getting up in the morning of having all four of my DCs out of the door by 8:15am for school.

fastdaytears · 07/01/2016 22:29

Youthful good looks in a dog is definitely something to be proud of! That dog is cute.

I would have totally married its owner.

chocomochi · 07/01/2016 22:30

Still don't understand how the op conceived when she was 19, going to be 23 tomorrow and oldest is 2.5 years old. Maybe because it's late and I need my sleep to get up at 6.30am. Yawns.

Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:30

Tbh I am flattered when people think my eldest dog is the same age as my youngest. I don't get compliments much so I nick theirs.

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:31

We're all just hanging out for the explanation choco Smile

DancingDinosaur · 07/01/2016 22:31

Of course fidel Grin when asked in Tescos 'would you like a 5p bag?' Hell no, I'll nip back to the past and grab a handful!!

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:32

Exactly Grin

fastdaytears · 07/01/2016 22:32

Me too Fig. When I take the cat to the vet and they say what a perfect weight she is I feel quite proud, then stop for McDonalds on the way home. One of us is a perfect weight and that's enough for me.

DancingDinosaur · 07/01/2016 22:33

Fast Grin thats a good one.

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 22:33

People always tell me my cat has beautiful eyes. Makes me feel so flattered.

Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:33

19 6 months + 9 months = 20 3 months + 2.5 yrs = 22 9 months. She was prob in the latter half of 19...

I could go on countdown

fastdaytears · 07/01/2016 22:33

Does anyone know if I could hire a nanny to get me out of the house in the morning? I don't have DC but I do lose my shoes a lot and I need someone to tell me gently and firmly to get off MN and put some mascara on. Wouldn't need to be bilingual so I'm thinking maybe £18 an hour net?

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 22:34

Fast I'll do it!! £20/hour is the going rate though.

SKLily · 07/01/2016 22:34

Because when someone calls my dog cute it's always sweet? Same with young right? Oh well!

My puppy poo's on the floor. Makes me feel so ashamed. Almost like I did it. That dog reflects badly on me.

fig my birthday is January 8th and we conceived around Christmas, so that's the general time frame we're working with. 23 tomorrow! Well in about an hour

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 22:36

Sweet maybe. Not flattering.

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:36

I'll phone you up at 7am every day and yell at you for 10 whole minutes for the bargain rate of £12 per call fast

Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:37

See, SK says in good at maths. Do either of you need an accountant?
