Hiring a nanny just for school runs (morning + afternoon)

I simply can't get the hang of morning school runs. The little one isn't that troublesome these days about getting his clothes sorted and on + shower and brushing his teeth has become a breeze. The problem is I wake up in the morning and simply can't get myself together. No number of espressos can help me and most recently I made us late by losing my phone. Where was it? In the cat food bowl when I thought I had given the cat food... Instead I gave her my phone. As a new mum I'm thinking that since our son isn't too much of a handful these days maybe getting someone in is the answer?

Does anyone else have someone to help with 9am morning school runs? How much do they help out? Do they get your little one ready too?

Ha ha, my thoughts too fidel. Pesky time travel again Grin

fastdaytears · 07/01/2016 22:11

your hair elastics need replacing. Hope that help.

Sandunes- Queens Gate is a lovely place to live actually. And there are lots of lovely places overlooking Knightsbridge, just by RAH (in Vikram Seth's An Equal Music, the protagonist lives there)

SandunesAndRainclouds · 07/01/2016 22:12

No, not bland at all. I've just never noticed anywhere to live - but when I've been there I've been mostly looking after my DCs and en route to museums etc.

Do you get to go to so many wonderful places with your DC? Or is it a bit like a beautiful view that you just don't see after you've looked out of the same window for a long time?

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:12

That's not 'next' to the Science Museum Han

HanSolo · 07/01/2016 22:13

Queens Gate is.

Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:15

I think taking "next to" to mean right next door is a bit much

Floggingmolly · 07/01/2016 22:15

Why is the cat sleeping in a plastic carrier bag? If that carpet isn't gracing the floors of a council flat in Tower Hamlets I'll eat my hat.

YouBastardSockBalls · 07/01/2016 22:16

Ooh this is one of my favourite threads ever!

HanSolo · 07/01/2016 22:16

Plus there are lots of mews houses off Cromwell Rd, which (if I lived in one) I would describe as 'next to the science museum'. Though I'd probably say NatHistMus (like the Fossil sisters did, in Ballet Shoes)

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:16

Sandunes query was Exhibition road specific.

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:17

Maybe cats in carrier bags is an 'ironic' South Ken fashion?

msgrinch · 07/01/2016 22:18

Mandzi, thanks massive respect if you're struggling through to.

op you're funny. Your husband sounds ace, is he not annoyed by how little you're putting in to the partnership? is it not bed time it's school tomorrow

Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:19

Is a carrier bag 5p if there's a live cat in it?

sugar21 · 07/01/2016 22:21

Nofig the moggy is 10p extra + vat

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:21

Fresh produce, surely?

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 22:21

I'm lying in bed wetting myself at this thread.

Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:23

At what age is a cat not fresh? Surely a kitten is fresh?

OP is probably with DH now he has finished work

SKLily · 07/01/2016 22:23

It's a plastic bag from Russia because my Russian friend left it? The cat loves bags and boxes as does any. If anyone feels like translating the writing on the bag it's fine by me! Might help everyone a little? And it's a mat for the pets. Hubby and I are on the sofa watching The Jinx! Our dog is 6 coming up to 7, I am flattered everyone thinks she's so young though! And I'll rearrange the hair bands around the Cartier elegantly, thanks for the suggestion Fasty!

A puppy is fresh too especially a time travelling one

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:25

He's probably squeezing in the evening dog walk before he takes the baby for the night.

maybebabybee · 07/01/2016 22:25

Flattered because people think your dog is young?

BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 22:25

i wonder if ocado would give you 5p back on a non-British plastic bag?

DancingDinosaur · 07/01/2016 22:28

Now if the cat had been a fish there would have been no charge for the bag.

sugar21 · 07/01/2016 22:28

I hope he's got some poo bags fid
