Hiring a nanny just for school runs (morning + afternoon)

I simply can't get the hang of morning school runs. The little one isn't that troublesome these days about getting his clothes sorted and on + shower and brushing his teeth has become a breeze. The problem is I wake up in the morning and simply can't get myself together. No number of espressos can help me and most recently I made us late by losing my phone. Where was it? In the cat food bowl when I thought I had given the cat food... Instead I gave her my phone. As a new mum I'm thinking that since our son isn't too much of a handful these days maybe getting someone in is the answer?

Does anyone else have someone to help with 9am morning school runs? How much do they help out? Do they get your little one ready too?

Lmao... Kitty.

I was concerned about the dog as there's no mention of who feeds, walks etc the dog.

RudeElf · 07/01/2016 22:02

The cat ate the dog. OP put it in her dish by accident.

SKLily · 07/01/2016 22:02

Dog walking is the husbands duty

I need to get to bed because I've got the school run tomorrow.
Please promise me this will still be here in the morning?

BYOSnowman · 07/01/2016 22:03

i always like pet pictures! although still like the idea of the dog identifying as cat

anyway, just get a nanny!!

HanSolo · 07/01/2016 22:03

It's not really normal for someone your age to struggle getting up in the morning, going to bed at 1 tbh. I do it every day- 1am bedtime, get up between 6:15 and 6:45. I'm twice your age.
When I was your age I would regularly have about 3 hours sleep (though I didn't have children then).
See a GP, something isn't right.

I think the only way to convince people of your validity IS to grant me the holiday gratis Wink Then I can post pictures and everything.

No sarcasm at all. Some people on this thread are just jealous. I bet most of them would love to be able to afford home help. I mean no one actually wants to spend their days arguing with a small version of themselves.

I would suggest you get a good medical check up though and there are plenty of pick me ups out there. Perhaps a few days at a spa might help too.

Does your son go full days already? Perhaps one of the staff at the prep school would relish a little pocket money and might pick him up on their way into work?

I don't know if it's within your price range but if you like like your space you get could get adjoining apartments and just let the nanny and children live in one side ( you may need two nannies though). They get very particular about breaks etc. And you and your husband live a life of privacy and sleep next door.

It's ever so tricky though. One only has children to show off. I hear they get interesting once they can go shopping. Smile

Besides I hear spending time with the parents totally spoils a chikd and ensures they have attatchnent issues. You wouldn't possibly want that now dear.

So DH does night duty, dog care and works FT.

He sounds nice.

Mandzi34 · 07/01/2016 22:05

msgrinch I hear you!

Pigeonpost · 07/01/2016 22:05

pigeon thank god I'm not alone!

Hmmm well I'd also like the moon on a stick.

Surely no- one actually likes doing the school run? It's just one of those necessarily evils that the rest of us do just do because we erm, have to?

SandunesAndRainclouds · 07/01/2016 22:06

I genuinely didn't know that there were houses / apartments / residences near the science museum. I thought Exhibition Road was for, you know, exhibitions

Who walks the dog? Everybody is so busy sleeping or collecting dividends. I worry the thing is neglected.

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:08

I expect dividends are quite bulky, awkwardly shaped and difficult to carry.

DancingDinosaur · 07/01/2016 22:08

Aww theres kitty kitty. And the dog hasn't escaped into the future after all. Thats nice. You should ask your cleaner to hoover that carpet though :-(

pollylovespie · 07/01/2016 22:08

Couldn't he just go to whatever weird school for 2 yr olds this is in the afternoons? Then he'd still get to see his friends. Is it compulsory for them to put in a full day at 2?

Mandzi34 · 07/01/2016 22:09

You should definitely take honeymoms advice! That sounds ideal for your needs if you can afford it.

SKLily · 07/01/2016 22:09

Sandunes; so there aren't any mews?? I wonder what your idea of SK looks like then, must be bland

OP posts:
Figwin · 07/01/2016 22:09

I think it's a mat not carpet

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 22:10

I'm not so sure Dinosaur, that dog looks suspiciously young considering it was stalking OP's mum through Hyde Park 5 years ago.

DancingDinosaur · 07/01/2016 22:10

And how old is your darling puppy op?
