Primary school admission under medical criteria

Hi I need some advise Plz. My daughter has a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. She is currently attending a school nursery, which is not the closest to my home. I applied to keep her at the same school( reception) u set the medical criteria or the LA admission criteria( medical is second on the criteria). I supported her application with letter from paediatrician, gp, speech and Lang therapist, health visitors, and family support workers. All supporting my application to keep her at that school for continuity.

They refused her a place, staying that we live too far and it was parental choice to put her tgere, so they won't take medical evidence into consideration.

I asked the admissions to review my application again and gave more information as to why my daughter needs to stay there. They wrote to all the 6 professionals asking if they think it is necessary for her to stay on. They all said it will be detrimental to her development if she is taken out and put into another school. Admission team has again disregard the doctors advise. Now they want proof as to why I put her there in the first pkace( we were looking to relocate at that time.)

I am appealing but I don't understand what the admission team is doing. As They won't take consultant and professional opinion into account but want proof of us trying to buy a house?

I don't know what to do.. As I'm worried we might not win on appeal cod of infant class size.pleasr advise

By soft and fluffy I meant attitude. I can be a bit abrasive when something annoys me. Everyone has there own experiences.

I am hoping that the the letter from the LA in regards to the hearing will shed more light on the panels thinking.. ill post it on here when it arrives..

Are the school not supportive if you staying on.

I can't believe what they doing and hope you get some success with lgo.

I think you can just get 1 appeal per academic year so can you appeal again in September or declare today's good as has and fact they decided so quickly.

3asabird....

the headteacher was nasty with me when i asked for some information about expected children at the school.. but i just thought im not in it to make freinds with the head.. i want my dd to suffer less with the transition so just ignored her.. in the email to the head wrote that my dd doesnt need ehc.. and that she is gifted and talented and gets on well with everyone in nursery and that they made it very clear to me that she wont get a full time place...

Are we talking head if current school where nursery is at or head of school your daughters been allocated.

That's a shame nursery can't buy you more time

My son's preschool are anti defering too.

Thanks im.doing 2 appeals for same school 2 different children daughter will be year 1 sept has no sen. Son is 4 and men at be starting reception and has sen which could are ignored.

I'm going it alone with primary appeals but may hire solicitors regarding ehcp.

Um you need your future head on your side.

Anything goes wrong in the future s/he is one of the most important people you will deal with, or alternatively the hardest persons opinion to get disregarded.

Also the head's ethos often strongly influences the schools ethos. Finding yourself at loggerheads with your child's head from day one is not pleasent. (Especially if they are convinced they are doing everything right)

Still going with lucky escape Wink

Toffee that what all my friends are saying About the current head... But can LA influence tge new head or senco.. As it seems that la has good relations with the allocated school senco
