Fluffy your LA can tell you the exact distance they have for you

MrsJamin · 17/04/2015 08:10

I know I shouldn't link to another thread but this is essential reading if you didn't get a school you want.

MTWTFSS · 17/04/2015 08:20

As thread starter MrsJamin I allow it :)

Really sorry for people who did not get any if preferences.

I'm still considering my offer.

One ransom mum at eldest school been slating ne said no surprise I picked school to far away it's over a mile and eldest tgere. So I put on Facebook its in same county I pay council tax unlike you I mean honestly some people.

Some people had some really odd allocations must be super over everywhere this year fear my county's worse next year due to a new housing.

Mrs grime I been through all this last year with middle child.

If you want any advice on interim home education until tgat and waitlists pm me.

It's good hear so many positive stories.

But sometimes you have play long game there's no guarantees.

Daughter still has no school and it's april.
I turned down allocated school as latest I could defer was jan as she was 5 in sept just wasent logistically doable.

We have moved up and down waitlist.

Speaking to admissions after every half term and mid term real joy not.

If someone moves next to school we get bumped down if someone gets sibling on year that has got spaces or round here mod family Need space we get bumped.

I have no idea why I'm so chilled out maybe spending top long I'm sunny park with happy 5 year old fried my brains.

I think not getting a school place has Ben making of get. Out of all 3 she's most confident and social.given her gift of being little and under no pressure that little bit longer keep telling people we European attitudes to education .

good luck everyone.

Sorry your getting stick 3as

what a cow. as if its not hard enough.

problems like this aren't exclusive to far away or out of catchment schools. People living g virtually next door still miss put sometimes. distances are literally metres for many schools.

I hope you and everyone else has some joy with lists etc Flowers

MTWTFSS · 17/04/2015 08:41

3asAbird some people have way too much time!

I've just found out my neighbour didn't get a place and she is now on the warpath wanting to use our application success as a reason why her kid should get in too.

Its taking the shine of our result somewhat as she seems to think we shouldn't have got in either.

Does anyone know if the LEA will ignore her referring to our application or not. Am paranoid now that there has been a mistake and we'll get our place withdrawn...

Thanks Tiggy I'm thinking it might be a mistake on her form as she got one miles away and didn't get any of her 6 choices which seems odd as most people around here seem to have got at least one of first three.

Some people are so vindictive and nasty about it all - and we go to same nursery so can't even avoid her too well!!

I know appeal deadline is May but how long does it take for outcome? Assume it can literally be until start of term? Especially if she is relying on waiting lists etc?

MrsJamin · 17/04/2015 09:18

AnnieLewis - they can't withdraw your offer even if it is a mistake somehow that your child was offered a place.

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/04/2015 09:18

annie I also had someone ask me if I got in. not a neighbour but they were clearly checking as obviously I'm further away than many.

I've checked the allocations and all were admitted under catchment and siblings an some under distance. so I'm assuming that if whoever he was asking for was catchment or had a sibling then they must have made a mistake on the form because everyone who was supposed to have got In, did, according to the table.

but I did panic about them withdrawing the place as they made a mistake. but they can't of you didn't lie on the form or whatever

Getdownfromtherethisinstant · 17/04/2015 09:28

tiggytape yes that makes sense. One child out of 59 allocated to school with PAN 60. My email arrived this morning - better late than never!!

AnnieLewis · 17/04/2015 09:32

Giles are you in London? Where are you checking stats for this years admissions? I can't see anything on our borough website yet, would like to be able to check for myself. It does seem odd as we didn't get sibling place or anything. PFB for both of us.

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/04/2015 09:34

No not London. I just looked at the LA website.

hopefully someone else will be able to help you on that.

Maybe a Google search

Almostapril · 17/04/2015 09:41

Our stats went onto LA web site about 4pm yesterday. I assume they do it to help resolve queries

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/04/2015 09:43

And annie please, be happy. allow yourself that. You not getting a place well not have meant they did.

This time 4 years ago I was panicking because my dd had been dumped in one the counties worst schools. People were removing their kids it had been threatened with closure.

everyone else I knew had got the one they wanted. It's hard it really is. especially when the bad news is really bad.

but a decent person would be happy for you despite being annoyed themselves at not getting a place. I'd there was a mistake it wasn't by you. It is possible to feel screwed over and be happy fir someone.

I was equally angry and upset at the unfairness. but that wasn't directed at the people who got in.

be happy. everyone on this thread is happy for you despite their own outcomes

MrsHathaway · 17/04/2015 09:49

What search terms should I be using to find the admissions stats for this year? I can only find 2014-15.

Thanks in advance, anyone!

Minicooper · 17/04/2015 09:52

Thanks, tiggy - all is now clear - friend has moved, so I was basing it on the wrong address! New house is further away than we are. Which makes sense!! Seems we are the cut off point though - family opposite us got a school 3 miles away....

I've found this for some LA's but not London.

www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/11541993/Primary-school-admissions-2015-local-authority-figures.html

fluffymouse · 17/04/2015 10:05

I've called our council and we missed out on our first choice by 40 metres. I'm totally gutted. Its our nearest school, dd goes to their nursery, and all dd's friends will be going there. Sad

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/04/2015 10:05

interesting annie

my region is not on there but I noticed that the figures for getting 1 of top 3 is mid to high end 90s %.

so I was one of just 1-4 % of people first time round. scary.
