all had reading books and records that they brought home every week ... that teacher wrote notes on how they read in class in, and parents wrote notes on how they read at home

and they'd had them for 4 or 5 WEEKS

and your child didn't have one (hadn't had one since Reception last year)

What would you think /do?

twiglett ...

Bozza · 11/10/2006 08:48

Hope you get it sorted twig. From a neutral pov those 5 weeks won't really make that much difference. But I know how I would feel if it was DS - I would be upset and angry.

DS has been bringing home a reading book from the end of the first week. At first they were a lower level than the ones he had finished reception on - but a couple of notes in his reading record sorted that. But these reading books are only read with DH and me. The teacher/assistant etc never read them. And they never read individually with DS - they do guided reading in groups. I just wonder if this might be why your DS says he has not read with the teacher.

EnidVorhees · 11/10/2006 08:49

that is shocking

I would be LIVID

have you been up there yet

TwigTwoolett · 11/10/2006 08:50

don't be shocked ghosty .. really truly gin IS better with a splash of tonic

I don't think DS would tell me even if they did keep him locked in a cupboard. It is like getting blood out of a stone getting any information from him - I find out more from his friends.

EnidVorhees · 11/10/2006 08:50

20 in dd1's mixed yr 1 & 2 class, reading record from day one, book every night, reading in class every day, with TA mostly, with teacher every 10 days or so.

TwigTwoolett · 11/10/2006 08:50

leaving in 10 mins .. school is just round the corner

I do think today is that stupid 'prep day' so the teacher won't be there this morning

shall I tell teaching assistant I need to have a word with her (teacher)??

EnidVorhees · 11/10/2006 08:51

yes get shirty with TA too

EnidVorhees · 11/10/2006 08:51

tbh I cannot BELIEVE they have 'forgotten' him

something not quite right here

ghosty · 11/10/2006 08:52

That's the spirit Twigmeister ... keep your sense of humour ... [girn][tonic][wino]Gin

Can you tell I have a large glass of wine in my hand??????

ghosty · 11/10/2006 08:53

All positive vibes coming from NZ ...

Ladymuck · 11/10/2006 08:53

Actually I'd use the TA to get some more info before any confrontation with the teacher. An innocent "Can I see Twiglett Jr's reading record for a moment?" may be more revealing than storming in later.

EnidVorhees · 11/10/2006 08:54

god yes

i am so crap at clever things like that

agree with ladymuck

Marina · 11/10/2006 09:12

Go Twiggy [punt e mes]

Bozza · 11/10/2006 09:13

Good idea ladymuck. Wonder if twiglet saw it before she went off.

Ladymuck · 11/10/2006 09:29

So she left at 9, school is just around the corner....

How long before we start wondering if the school is still standing....

Gobbledispook · 11/10/2006 09:31

C'mon Twig - gotta go out again in a bit!

pindy · 11/10/2006 09:40

Maybe they've locked her in the cupboard aswell for being a trouble maker!!!!

Seriously, hope you got some answers, and it is all sorted. X

Ladymuck · 11/10/2006 09:42

Well I am heading out. Am hoping that this is a sign that in fact all was well and she is around having coffee with a mate, rather than either she or the TA are in floods of tears at the school...

ghosty · 11/10/2006 09:42

Come on Twig ... if you don't come back soon I will have to take the bins out ...
Well, I have to take the bins out anyway, but I don't want to yet ....

Hmm yes ghosty - so inconsiderate of her - I might actually have to do something I am paid for and check my code changes have been implemented.

ghosty · 11/10/2006 09:45

Hmmm ... another glass of wine BEFORE I take the bins out or AFTER ?

ghosty · 11/10/2006 09:53

Right, bin time ... you better be here by the time I get back Twiglett [stern]
