Would you have an issue with a tattooed primary teacher?

ThanksSmile

No. Why on earth would anyone care? Unless the tattoo was offensive.

madwomanintheattic · 29/02/2012 22:30

Omg, I am dying at the tarts. Grin are we still doing quote of the week? Are we? Are we? I don't get any newsletters or round up or whatever, but that has to be a contender if we are....

jbl2312 · 01/03/2012 11:02

@the secondcomming lucky priest for having tarts lol

jbl2312 · 01/03/2012 11:06

@the secondcoming what a lucky priest to have tarts lmao

Michaelahpurple · 01/03/2012 12:15

Male primary teachers are gold dust!
But where is his tattoo such that you think it would show in a classroom? If it is on his upper arm, shoulder etc, then there is no reason why the matter should ever arise. If all over his forearms and he isn't happy to wear a formal shirt, I'd say not ideal, but probably not a category killer.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/03/2012 12:19

At dh's school they are expected to dress professionally and that means covering visible tattoos under shirt sleeves and taping piercings.

I don't want to see tattoos in a professional context.

EdithWeston · 01/03/2012 12:22

Irrespective of the sex of the teacher, I wouldn't like to see tattoos on the face, neck or hands; any that looked home-made; any misspelled or containing profanities; or any featuring nudity.

Sarcalogos · 01/03/2012 12:25

Just laughed out loud in an extremely boring important silent moment at work because of Rc priest and his tarts. Guess I shouldn't be on mn at work...

birdofthenorth · 01/03/2012 12:25

No probs so long as it's not inappropriate (naked woman etc!).

Just interviewed a man wearing earrings for a school position. Didn't bother me but the HT was unimpressed by his appearance.

Chandon · 01/03/2012 12:29

no, unless the tattoo is offensive, in language or pictures (like swear words, or sexual stuff)

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 01/03/2012 12:36

Just read first page and pmsl at TSC typo he has tarts. Classic Grin

Off to read the rest now.

No I wouldn't have a problem at all, if non offensive tattoo.

startail · 01/03/2012 12:40

No just be reallyGrinGrinGrin you have a male primary teacher.
They are as rare as hens teeth and really help produce a rounded school environment.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 01/03/2012 12:40

Am happy to volunteer for fit young male arse inspection duties as required ...

threeineachlobe · 01/03/2012 12:41

Serious question posed, descended swiftly into vicars and tarts party. Lovely lovely MN. Grin

EdithWeston · 01/03/2012 12:44

I've yet to meet a teacher whose bottom I would want to inspect.

And thinking of some at our school, I'm shuddering at the mere idea.

BertieBotts · 01/03/2012 12:44

I used to shag a male primary school teacher-in-training. He had a nice arse. But no tattoos.

badtasteflump · 01/03/2012 12:50

No, as long as they can be covered by day to day clothing. Nothing to do with not suiting a teacher particularly, more that anything else looks naff IMO (sorry).

maddiemostmerry · 01/03/2012 18:33

He is now wondering if he could make a career out of pictures of his arse instead.Grin

Thanks everyone. It will be covered up and he is pretty smart looking.

As long as it wasnt offensive/facial/racist then no issues. Why should being tattooed affect your ability to teach?

jalapeno · 01/03/2012 19:22

No, I'd just be pleased for a male teacher! Not one in my DS's primary!!

Abra1d · 01/03/2012 19:26

If the tattoo were visible and of a reasonable size, yes, I would judge. And it wouldn't be favourably.

You are supposed to dress professionally in schools.

BertieBotts · 02/03/2012 08:36

I wouldn't care at all. I think it's far more important that a teacher can connect with the pupils than that they are dressed professionally.

VivaLeBeaver · 02/03/2012 08:39

I noticed yesterday that dd's female headteacher has starts tattooed on her wrists. I was a bit suprised btu still think she's very good.

ButWhyIsTheGinGone · 03/03/2012 01:13

How does the decision to apply permanent ink to one's skin make one less competent at one's job, I wonder?

These people who admit they would judge make me laugh. Imagine you're having some pioneering operation where you have to remain awake. Suddenly, mid operation, you notice your surgeon is......TATTOOED!!!! Obviously this changes everything......

MrsWembley · 03/03/2012 01:21

First reaction to the question: don't give a shit, just glad to see a male primary teacher.

Then read TSC's contribution...

GrinGrinGrin

Honestly, when vicars have tarts, teachers can have what the fuck they like!
