If your Y1 child is at a private school, what book band are they on?

curious to see how far privately educated childred are actually ahead already after only a year of school.

It all so depends on which private/state school, as well as which child, doesn't it.

I echo Teacher's post....sad to hear it wasn't possible to have what you describe your dd having now, at her State school. We pretty much have all of that (bar the frequency of reading) at dd's State school. I would say, though, that there is less anxiety (which is what I think some of it is) about kids achieving in KS1. The big push starts towards the end of Y2, but really kicks in in Y3.

And I have to say, for dd1 that is perfect: she did very well in KS1 by national standards - but not as good at handwriting/maths as private school peers. However now in KS2, she is catching up fast - she is ready, and loving every minute.

Off topic......I heard today that phonics tests are being introduced in Y1 - utterly depressing. Tests in Y1.
