The fake news is that migrants are going to BEHEAD primary school kids in a co-ordinated attack on schools based on absolutely nothing but widely spread by the likes of Tommy Robinson to whip up fear of migrants.

Your school hasn't been in contact because it's absolute 100% solid bullshit.

Do people actually believe this shite?

cariadlet · 21/08/2025 21:03

Good grief! Thanks to those who shared the actual rumours. I hadn't heard of them at all. I spend far too much time on social media but luckily not on the craziest corners.

The sad thing is that it's very easy to find yourself in a part of the internet where extreme rumours are spread and people re-enforce each others' worries so end up believing them.

SomeOfTheTrouble · 21/08/2025 18:43

Yeah, as long as critical thinking isn’t required for their futures!

Or spelling.

There are lots of teachers currently on Twitter trying to explain to Tommy Robinson that schools have actually been doing lockdown drills for years and that schools aren't suddenly doing lockdown prep because they have secret info from the government about the "imminent terrorist attack on schools".

So fucking depressing. There has only been one successful attack on a primary school in British history as far as I’m aware, and the perpetrator wasn’t a Muslim immigrant.

HappySummerDays · 21/08/2025 21:37

The last poster to start a thread on this topic never came back to let us know if she had to decided to homeschool her children.
Maybe having thought about what that would involve she changed her mind 🙄

And we have actual lockdowns in British schools quite regularly, they just never make the news.

Usually for an aggressive parent or a kid with a knife. Not for terrorists.

Pretty sure Tommy Robinson isn't actually planning to homeschool his kids either.

That would interfere with all his luxury holidays.

I remember 2 attacks on British primary schools: the Dunblane shooting in 1996 and the Wolverhampton machete attack, also in 1996.

Neither were carried out by Islamist terrorists.

Tommy Robinson really is a nasty piece of work.

Some do, which is why It's so reprehensible to spread lies.

GCAcademic · 22/08/2025 14:47

Your children desperately need to be in school so that they will know the difference between "there" and "their", and between "hole" and "whole".

And how to critically analyse news sources.

What does that actually add to anything? Sometimes, the old adage, "If you can't think of anything nice to say, don't say anything," does need to be applied.

The op is (unnecessarily) worried because of crap she has seen online. All she needs is reassurance that it's scaremongering bullshit, not to have her spelling criticised.

I inwardly roll my eyes at a lot of the spelling and grammar on this and other sites but unless it's directly relevant, I wouldn't say anything. Someone might be dyslexic or speaking English as a 2nd or additional language. Sometimes it's a typo (I often type the wrong homophone but never make those mistakes when writing by hand). Even if there's not a reason like that, taking the piss is unnecessary.

Dreadwitch · 25/08/2025 16:43

Why what's happening in England? Racists putting flags everywhere and harassing innocent people? The government completely ignoring the genocide in Palestine? The hosepipe bans? The hot weather? Food prices still climbing? Bills still climbing?

How does any of that affect kids going back to school?

Dreadwitch · 25/08/2025 16:44

KateMiskin · 21/08/2025 18:27

If only people would stop getting news from Tiktok.

But what news? Not that I even look at tiktok, but I don't even know what it is they're talking about.

KateMiskin · 25/08/2025 17:29

I was suspended for troll hunting so am not going to answer that! I'll just Be Kind.

Our school have been doing lockdown drills since at least 2015, when my eldest started. They’re nothing new.

SensitiveSky5664 · 16/12/2025 22:39

Wow

SensitiveSky5664 · 16/12/2025 22:48

Im disgusted at the responses on this post, gaslighting the OP into thinking she’s crazy and that there’s nothing in the news or media about the absolute carnage going on in this country.

For all the dumbasses asking “what exactly are you worried about” - in the news and the media we have seen many tragedies in this country recently including terrorist attacks, children being stabbed to death, mass shootings or people planning to carry out massacres in schools and public places. OP is rightfully worried about her children, like any normal parent would and should be.

Totally agree with OP and share the same worries for children and families.

The rest of you are clearly bots because I can’t comprehend how you can all respond to OP in the same manner.

My advice would be, if you can afford to, home school your children.

I’d love to know what the current government have in place to prevent such horrific and unimaginable suffering.

OP you’re not alone in your worries, and you’re certainly not wrong, although most on here are telling you otherwise. I would suggest maybe trying any parent/mums groups in your local community to share your concerns, you will probably get more sense and empathy than you will from tossers on the internet.

If lots of posters disagree with you, they have to be bots or tossers? 🤔

Alternatively, many people have had experience (as school staff or parents) of lock down drills being run for years so don't think it's related to any terrifying new threat and can think of examples of non terrorist related incidents which have necessitated the implementation of lock down drills.

maybe not bots, but definitely tossers :)

Denying the fact that the UK has recently seen terrorist attacks and pretending that there is absolutely no reason to be worried about sending children to schools. Just last year someone was arrested after killing 3 of his family members with a shotgun in Luton, the police discovered that he was planning to carry out a mass shooting at a primary school if he hadn’t been caught beforehand.

3 young girls were stabbed in an unprovoked attack at a dance class.

Young children and young girls are being attacked, raped, stabbed, killed for no apparent reason in this country. Right now.

Most responders on this thread have acted oblivious to what is going on in England. Essentially gaslighting the OP into thinking she has said something out of turn and is mental for being concerned about her children. Shocking behaviour.

What you are failing to acknowledge that the 'news' that was on social media was some fictional racist bollocks about asylum seekers.

And you are failing to acknowledge all of the non fiction events that are happening and have happened, as stated in my response above.
