I would work on making some friends, maybe of other mums with kids a similar age. It’s a scary world but I find much better to talk things over with someone in real life. Helps put things into perspective.

Am just worried about everything atm the hole world seems upside-down

Nope that’s still unclear - are you worried about gravity? Change in poles? The Upside Down

What were you expecting school to be in touch about exactly?
I too work in a primary school and have no idea what you’re on about? No concerns about return to school here.

itsgettingweird · 21/08/2025 18:40

This is worse than one of those Fb posts that say “I’m done”

Followed by a million messages asking if everything’s ok and there’s no actual answer just more words and waffle.

OP either give us a clue as to what is worrying you so we can help or so t bother starting the thread .

It’s so transparent because apparently now a few names online have said “no” you’re claiming to be reassured 🙄

SomeOfTheTrouble · 21/08/2025 18:41

I’m really confused because I live in England but appear to be completely oblivious to all the things that are apparently happening here that mean I should be worried about my children going to school 😬

I was going to suggest home educating….. but might not be a good idea.

Needmorelego · 21/08/2025 18:42

Homeschool them then.
Maybe in a bunker.
Your kids will turn out just fine 🙄

Yeah, as long as critical thinking isn’t required for their futures!

Mangetouts · 21/08/2025 18:44

What are you wittering about. What's the problem with schools?

IdaGlossop · 21/08/2025 18:44

My DD was at primary school with a mother who worried about everything - school trips because of road traffic accidents, sleepovers with grandparents because of sexual abuse, what her child had in her lunch box because of the child's likes and dislikes. After much negotiation, I took the child out with DD and one other, agreeing to phone the mother to report what the child had eaten. The mother was astonished that her child had chosen the same as the other two, eaten everything, and finished at tge same time as the other two. At that point, I realised that the mother was projecting her anxieties onto the child and that the child was just like most other children.

Stop! Your child needs school to be a safe and happy place. Your confidence in it being so will help make it do.

Maybe they'll live happily ever after in their bunker 😁

mumofboys1308 · 21/08/2025 18:45

I'll do just that, stay away from social media thanks for all your opinions I have got my answer from all your comments that I am just over thinking and believing in fake news thanks

If you don’t watch the news then how are you worried about recent news reports?

I have concerns about my kids going back to school but at least one is ND, that child is transitioning to a new school and has been through a period of EBSNA. I don’t know if the new school will be right for my child.

I’ve shared what I’m worried about. What are you worried about?

bookworm14 · 21/08/2025 18:48

But what IS the fake news? It would be useful to know what TikTok conspiracy theorists think is happening…

Meadowfinch · 21/08/2025 18:49

I think you are worrying unnecessarily OP.

Our local primary school will be back on Sept 3rd. They will get back to sitting on carpets, listening to stories, learning their phonics and doing their sums.

They will get their weekly reading books and make their plans for harvest festival.

Don't deny your child their enjoyment and social interaction. Children are statistically safer in school that anywhere else so put down your melodramatic internet news stories and allow your child their right of passage.

Some fool has got hold of an advice note to schools from the Department for Education about lock-down procedures. This timing of this, they say, is because ISIS terrorists have come into the UK on small boats and are planning a major attack, on primary schools.

It is standard procedure for schools to have a lockdown process so this is highly irresponsible behaviour designed, like so much else at the moment, to whip up anti-Muslim sentiment.

mumofboys1308 · 21/08/2025 18:31

I dont really have anyone to talk about with this matter and upto now seeing people not worried as eased my anxiety about this situation. I stopped watching the news when we got put into lock down because I started feeling the same and I was looking for other opinions. Thanks

What is "this matter"? What specifically is worrying you?

DaringlyDizzy · 21/08/2025 18:57

4 replies and you are yet to say what the issue actually is!!!

Thank you - not frequenting the more batshit sections of social media, I had no idea about this story. This thread is starting to make a lot more sense.

Thanks for this, I cross posted with you. Had been blissfully unaware of this particular scaremongering.

Definitely remember dc telling me about "what we'd have to do if a stranger or a big scary dog got into school" many years ago when they were at a tiny village primary so agree not a new thing. Bloody Farage.

Bloody Farage indeed. The issue of irregular migration can be discussed without othering migrants but he chooses, cold-bloodedly, not to do that.

noblegiraffe · 21/08/2025 19:51

The fake news is that migrants are going to BEHEAD primary school kids in a co-ordinated attack on schools based on absolutely nothing but widely spread by the likes of Tommy Robinson to whip up fear of migrants.

Your school hasn't been in contact because it's absolute 100% solid bullshit.
