I don’t know why another thread hasn’t been created yet , so here you go. Now as we prep ourselves to the peak of this pandemic, let’s all face it together and appreciate how fragile our lives are and how we need each other to survive and flourish.

People here, do you know or recommend any local organic veg delivery shops near MK please? I have no idea where to try. I am just looking at the soil association website but no one near is taking new customers

@inmylife...

Here they are giving patients electronic devices to enable them to maintain contact so definitely take an iPad or similar.

footprintsintheslow · 22/03/2020 11:07

@Gammeldragz you ARE a super hero. My practice nurse has saved me numerous times. I love her.

@Sprayitall great idea about lock screen

And everyone else thanks for the advice I will try and access online support/counselling

inmylifeIlovedthemall · 22/03/2020 11:37

Whatthefoxgoingon very true. I suppose in my mind I wouldn’t be going in unless very seriously ill.

Great idea Sprayitall . I always have a piece of card in my bag when I go in detailing my Name, DOB, NHS Number, GP details, Drugs and Next of Kin contact details. I am always asked for this info and have lost count of the number of times I have forgotten my DD phone number or drug details when being admitted in a very unwell state.

BlackeyedSusan · 22/03/2020 11:46

I have emergency contacts that can be accessed from the lock screen. Details of conditions and allergies.

I was tempted to write my drug allergy to up my arm with a Sharpie, renewing it everyday!

CVRD · 22/03/2020 11:48

Thank you all for so many good wishes, you've made me feel even more quite tearful! I'm feeling brighter today, I sat up in bed for half an hour yesterday and ate some mash which was nice Smile

Inmylife I don't want to worry people as I think I will be slightly more worrying different due to my fibrosis, but I got no notice, I literally woke up from sleep coughing as though I had drank something which went down the wrong way, where you can't quite catch your breath. It was strange. I also know quite a few people though who believe they've had it and it was very mild, just like a cold which is reassuring.

YY about the lock screen and the hospital notes. I have epilepsy so also have a bracelet saying this and DH's number in case anyone who finds me doesn't know about the phone thing. Also a similar keyring fob. Also if you live alone with pets you can get a key fob advising people your cat is home alone! I'm hoping no one will be admitted and I know the staff will be so overstretched ...sending much love and thanks to everyone in the NHS and teachers and everyone else keeping people safe and well and making their lives easier.

BlackeyedSusan · 22/03/2020 11:50

Found in settings...

When swipe up to unlock, emergency button appears. Clicking brings up contacts and medical info.

BlackeyedSusan · 22/03/2020 11:52

Set it up in settings on your phone.

Sorry lost one post so the last one was not quite so clear.

Waitasecond · 22/03/2020 12:03

Happy Mother’s Day everyone. It’s going to be a tough one for everyone this year. I’m going to FaceTime my mum, even though my sister has traveled down from a major city to see her Angry When are people going to start taking this seriously. I despair.

I got a tesco delivery yesterday, and there was obviously a lot missing and a lot of substitutions, but it seems people have moved on from panic buying tins to fresh fruit/veg and meat. None of my meat was sent, and only tomatoes and cucumber out of my veg. I’m getting a meat delivery on Tuesday from a company called musclefood so I’ll survive, also getting a veg box from a local farm this week. Between that, my milkman deliveries and my preps I won’t have to leave the house at all, which is such a relief.

Sprayitall · 22/03/2020 12:36

I have always had that as my lock screen lol because I had this dizzy spells during school runs occasionally.
Meanwhile in Chennai, it’s so beautiful to see all our neighbours and friends standing at the rooftop terraces outside clapping their hands to show their thanks to the front line doctors/nurses and other key workers. They have all stayed in today to show their support to the cause. It moved me to tears.
I am suddenly realising how much of change this has brought into people’s lives now. If the world changes to be a better place with more love, unity, peace and tolerance I think we can all beat this together. Let us show our support to all the key workers and people in the front line here.
If you can afford to please stay in and keep your kids home so there is less pressure on the Nhs. That’s the best thing you can do -How often do you get a chance to lie down in front of the tv to save the world?? Now is the chance, so please be a super hero, wear your cape and do your part well!
Well with regards to my friends who have become ex friends- I think I am one “Big stupid leech bitch magnet” may be.. lol - always attracting the wrong kind and end up feeling stupid

Sorry. Posted on wrong page

BlackeyedSusan · 22/03/2020 12:43

We have just done church via the internet. It is strange to change the way we do things. All in little family groups.

If you get chance, get phone numbers and emails from friends and family to help keep you sane.

BlackeyedSusan · 22/03/2020 12:45

Don't be sorry. We miss your updates.

Sprayitall · 22/03/2020 13:03

@Blackeyed I have set the emergency contacts in settings but half the people don’t know if there is one or how to access it when they need. That’s why I have put it in the lock screen so it won’t take much effort.
I have downloaded the nest egg app and I am going to try it today. (the app with birds nest that has two eggs?) I am still trying to figure it out , will update about it soon

Sorry I'm a bit dim, but how do you set your lock screen on a Samsung phone wirh your name and emergency contacts please? Such a vital thing to do right now!

AlohaMolly · 22/03/2020 13:52

I set up my phone with the emergency details just now, thank you.

We’ve had a ridiculous weekend here. I live in snowdonia and it was like August bank holiday weekend here, there were so many tourists! I’ll post some pictures of the numbers, I was truly disgusted.

AlohaMolly · 22/03/2020 13:54

All local car parks. People were literally queuing on snowdon.

Thinking of the fact its mothers day. I am so pleased mine thought me to cook. I made a roast today and have put aside the bone from the joint to make stock for soup latter on the week. I plan to squeeze every last bit of nutrients into my children if it kills me. I have also saved the gravey (proper gravey I don't normally bother to do) and will add it to a shepards pie latter in the week or freeze it for latter.

I am about to go into the garden and practice the skills my dad taught me. To start my prepping for some raised beds we meant to do when we moved in but other things got in the way.

I am doing this alone as my husband works away from home and isn't due back for months which is causing me to wobble at times. When he started to understand the gravity of the situation it brought it home that it was real. He is very pleased that I was on the ball had prepared the best I could.

HuggedTheRedwoods · 22/03/2020 14:24

Someone asked up thread do we think the shops will get back to 'normal' soon. I popped in the local Asda earlier in faint hope of getting some bread and fresh tomatoes but not optimistic. I was very surprised - it was like stepping back in time a few weeks, lots of fresh fruit, salad and vegetables and was even able to get the bread I prefer. Shelves weren't fully stocked but most items seemed to be there apart from loo roll and the beer shelves. The store was fairly busy but with a much calmer feeling than of late. I felt like I'd just been dropped in from pre-historic times as I wandered around staring at all the pretty tins and colours!! The till lady told me there had been the usual queue scrum at opening time but had been quiet since then. I bought only the items I went in for and hoped others were doing the same.

Maybe, just maybe, we are turning the corner with the shopping behaviours.

Sprayitall · 22/03/2020 16:44

@AlohaMolly what’s wrong with the people here.. this level of selfishness is atrocious. No doubt we might go into lock down much earlier because of these people

https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/pm-mothers-day-words-22-march-2020 what a waste of breath. He needs to lock down the country if he's serious. Horrible as that would be.

Justalittlebitfurther · 22/03/2020 17:12

@ofwarren don't be sorry I miss your updates.

I am honestly shocked at the stupidity of the people queueing to get into the car parks near Snowdonia. I have been in for a whole week and two days and although it's been challenging at points it hasn't been horrific. I wish people would stay home.

Been out in the garden today, prepping the veg beds and doing some jobs. Hope you've all managed to do something nice today.

Sprayitall · 22/03/2020 17:27

I am so shocked to learn there are youngsters in 30’s are fighting for their life here in the U.K. including nurses and doctors on ventilators and in icu.. Covid is horrible and please the only thing they all ask us to do is to stay home. I’m sending my heartfelt thanks to whoever is staying home and not venturing out. DD’s school mate who is also our neighbour had his birthday party cancelled so we made sure we sent his gift to spread the smile. It was a box set of books which dd wanted to gift that we bought two weeks ago. we gave a full wipe down again today and sent dh to hand it over from a distance informing this has been wiped and he is giving this with clean hand gel applied hands. Why I am saying this is - This gives reassurance to the receiver and by making sure you say it aloud about what precautions you have taken everytime (when giving or receiving parcels or anything) you will make yourselves fully aware & consciously remember to protect yourself and your loved ones more. Try it and share it please.
