I have a spare bookshelf, random cupboard, bottom of wardrobe, top of wardrobe, space under bed, TV table drawers etc. No loft, but if the cellar was less damp I'd use that too.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 12:44

@AvocadosBeforeMortgages , May I introduce you to Round the Clock patience (playing cards). Which is pretty fiendish and distracting. In my 50s and only ever managed it twice.
Preen away, by the way.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 10/01/2019 12:45

And if you can't find any space in those areas you're probably overdue for a bit of Marie Kondo-ing anyway Wink

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 12:45

My neighbours are preppers, I'm just gonna invite myself around there 😃

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 10/01/2019 12:48

Be prepared to be told to sod off @FlameyCakes. My stash is to keep myself and especially vulnerable family members going. I am not going to be giving out food to neighbours perfectly capable of prepping for themselves; every tin I give away is one less meal for my family.

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 12:51

@avacadosbeforemortgages seriously give your head a wobble, I'm great friends with my neighbours and often share with them, try and figure if someone is being facetious x

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 12:53

Yep@flameycakes , you would get a firm Fuck Off from me unless you had something useful to offer me in exchange for food.
Already thinking about this with my nice neighbours who may also be Leave voters but who don't, as far as I know, know about our stash. Both are pretty handy at DIY and could, if necessary, help with rotas for watching our houses overnight.
If they just rocked up and said feed me, it would be a big "get stuffed" from me.

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 12:57

@bellingsurge another one who doesn't get someone being facetious, no wonder this planet's going to the dogs. Btw I already have a pantry and freezer full of stuff. Take the stick out of your bum for fechs sake x

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 12:59

Yesterday I made a huge Apple crumble, too much for just me and mine so I popped half over fence for neighbours, we have been friends for over 25 years and we often share x

AwdBovril · 10/01/2019 13:05

Instead of coconut milk, I got a big jar of coconut cream. Lasts ages even at room temperature. Needs a knife for digging it out though!

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 13:05

@flameycakes , if your neighbours are actually Preppers you can rest assured they have thought about whether and to what extent they share their stuff with you. Sorry to break that to you.

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 13:07

@bellinsurge look up the word facetious and stop being a dick x

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 13:12

Very nice dear

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 13:13

Why thank you kind sir/lady?

Holidayshopping · 10/01/2019 13:19

It does make you think about films/programs like 28 days later/The Walking Dead, doesn’t it.

If it was a situation where you have enough food for you, because you’d planned and prepped, but neighbours didn’t-you really wouldn’t want another household or two turning up and wanting your food. I think things would soon turn nasty!

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 13:20

It's a common discussion topic amongst Preppers.

NopeNi · 10/01/2019 13:22

Yes, I can just see us now with fresh baked bread smell piping out of our flat, looking terribly well fed, and telling the old lady from downstairs or the couple across the hall that they should have thought ahead more Grin

If anarchy really did happen and there were mass, mass food shortages over a few weeks, you'd have to be a right dick to refuse to share with desperate neighbours (who presumably would remember long after things got back to normal?)

Or have weapons ready to protect it (and if it got to that stage then I think we'd have already lost).

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 13:23

How would they know unless you went on line advertising it lol can't remember what I watched pertaining to this, some drama when one of the characters was online talking about his prepping cue him being raided by people when the poop hit the fan.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 13:29

@NopeNi , the mum of my DD's best friends is a leave voter who had trotted out some actual racist shit as part of what to me sounds like paranoia - people coming into her house to steal a bottle of bleach etc. For my DD's sake, I would help her if she asked , or rather, I would help her daughter and by extension the racist, paranoid mum. Because it would be good for my DD's well-being to have her friend be safe and warm.
As said before, I live among Leave voters and if they would be helpful to me, I would help them. I have some Leave voting family members who, if they turned up desperate at my door, I would help them.
But the gobby cow down the way who regularly witters on about how No Deal would be great? She can fuck off.

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 13:29

Anyone else have water purifying tablets and a storm kettle x

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 13:31

I do enjoy anything that would enable me to live of grid x

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 13:32

@NopeNi the old lady you refer to can be useful if she has knowledge about the local area that would be useful to me. Like water courses etc. Or other "lost skills" she could teach me.
But that's me talking as a prepper. Let's hope it doesn't come to any of that.

bellinisurge · 10/01/2019 13:33

@flameycakes , if you can live off grid you won't be bothering your neighbour to nanny you through stuff.

flameycakes · 10/01/2019 13:35

@bellingsurge are you being facetious there, my favourite thing at moment is my Roberts dab radio, and the neighbours are safe from me, for now anyway lol x

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 10/01/2019 13:36

If anyone tries to break in and steal my stash they'll have to get past the dog first - and I fear for their lower legs Grin (Not advocating the use of guard dogs - it's a complete pain in the arse when you can't have visitors and unavoidable visirs from the plumber to Openreach are traumatic all round).

No storm kettle here, but 300 purification tablets. I'm hoping that either gas or electricity will be available even if the other isn't.
