New thread - happy Monday!

Just incase you are wondering this is a thread for premmie mums who feel like they have missed out on the NCT classes experience and would like to chat.

I have missed out twice as has had two premies!
One of which seems to be wide awake at 4am - I have just fallen over a toy trying to get to her and am now cuddling her praying she'll drop off fast!
How's everyone?

Great news, so happy to hear they are being positive. How is halo tonight?
Waiting is always the worst unfortunately but you'll soon have your boy wide awake.

After much discussions with staff and after begging them and unashamedly putting on the water works they let me bring Artie on to the ward. We are currently snuggling up beside Halo's bed. I don't want to put her down because it means leaving Halo and going to the parents room. I may bring on the tears again and see if they let me have a fold out in Halo's room! Grin

FraggleRock77 · 30/04/2014 22:41

What fantastic news. Bring on the water works MM. I would. Xxx

MultipleMama · 01/05/2014 00:31

Dad just text me; his plane has landed :) so just had to let DH know to listen out for him knocking. I'm so glad my dad is here I've missed him so much.

On a side note; the tears worked. Artie and I are sharing the fold up cot (her in the carrycot against the wall on the bed). It's a tight fit in a tiny room and it's annoying having staff walk in and out every 15 minutes but I wouldn't change the arrangement :)

Mama1980 · 01/05/2014 08:05

Glad your dad is there.
Def use the waterworks, Grin how's halo this morning? I hope you got some sleep x

MultipleMama · 01/05/2014 08:56

His care team did their round at 7am and today they wean him the rest of the way so he'll almost always have someone present to monitor his responses. His stats are stable.

They say they won't be making any changes until this afternoon so I'm forced myself to go home to my dad and spent the rest of the enjoying my beautiful DC who have been incredibly patient and well behaved. So blessed :)

Bankholidaybaby · 01/05/2014 15:20

It sounds like everything in hospital and at home is going in a good direction, mmama. I hope Halo continues in a stable condition and that you can rest.

Mama1980 · 01/05/2014 15:36

Great news Smile
I hope you are enjoying your day with you elder dc s and your dad.

Halo is now out of his medically induced coma but he's still classed as in a coma because he hasn't woken up yet but all his treatment has now stopped except his fluids. It's just a waiting game, now.

The doctors are extremely pleased, if this hadn't had work, Halo would have had to have surgery to remove a part of his skull - they only told me this today Shock. I am however, glad they did not tell me because I would have been more on edge and worried about him.

Valdeeves · 01/05/2014 21:20

Glad it didn't come to that! Hope Halo wakes up soon Mama - are you sleeping there now?
Got referral for ENT with my little one - something not quite right there.

OP posts:
MultipleMama · 01/05/2014 21:41

I hope everything is okay Val, fingers crossed for you. K when he was younger had a ENT referral due to his ears - he eventually had to have tubes in both ears.

Not tonight, DH wanted some quality time with him, so he's taking the fold up. I am trying enjoy a lovely bubble bath with candles, but Artie woke up so I have her in the bouncer by the bath! Grin She's in a milk coma!

I would have used the parent room but a couple came in today with an ill child - not as ill as Halo - but were told no parent rooms were available, so we offered them ours for the night (you also have to pay for parent rooms - if you're here longer than 2 nights)

MultipleMama · 02/05/2014 13:56

Halo's had another scan today and his brain is looking good despite the damage. They also let me hold him for the first time since he was admitted! It felt so good. He's still not woken up but they're not too worried.

Artie is an expert crawler now. You put her down and she's off. You need 3 pairs of eyes to watch her! She's now fully recovered and the most happiest and easiest baby alive! :)

Poppet45 · 02/05/2014 19:03

Great news on the scan! Now lets see those beautiful eyes again Halo. Will be thinking of you all x

MultipleMama · 02/05/2014 22:51

At 5.46pm Halo's heart stopped beating. A crash team was brought in, DH and I was kicked out of the room. It took 7 minutes to bring him back.

Miraculously, an hour later he opened his eyes!!!! It was only for a few seconds, and he hasn't opened them since, but a very happy end to a miserable evening.

Valdeeves · 03/05/2014 00:12

Mmama how is he doing now?

OP posts:
MultipleMama · 03/05/2014 12:37

Left about half an hour ago after his care team visited. Brain and heart are looking good. Due to the ventilator and the measles his lungs have scarred a little more but overall he's improving and no changes.

Bankholidaybaby · 03/05/2014 19:30

That's very positive. I hope you and he get some rest!

Valdeeves · 04/05/2014 01:03

Sounds like progress Mama, just checking in to see how you are.
Ladies hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday wkend - spent today running around a theme park with the kids.

Mama1980 · 04/05/2014 08:18

Oh Mmama how terrifying. So happy to hear things are looking positive again since though. My eldest ds has ventilator scarred lungs and they cause no problems now he's older.
Fingers crossed for more good news today, and that you get to see halo s beautiful eyes again soon. X

MultipleMama · 04/05/2014 11:28

Currently in the parents room with Artie catching up on work that has to be for my deadline tomorrow morning. Only place I can concentrate, at home I'd be constantly phoning the hospital at least here I'm only across the hall. Luckily the DC are being spoilt rotten and all the GPs have taken them to Berlin for the day. Lucky buggers :)

Halo is doing well. How are your LOs? I feel I'm hogging most of the thread!!

Valdeeves · 04/05/2014 22:53

All ok here, had a few piña coladas with my hubby, bank holiday happy hour if you know what I mean xx

Hi, Val! Have a few on me! Both DH & I don't drink but tonight we'll be celebrating with mocktails!

Why are we celebrating you ask, well, Halo woke up this evening!! He's very sleepy but he managed to stay awake for half an hour! His eyes are focusing which is brilliant, he has little to no movement in his left leg and has no movement in his left arm but his care team are pleased with how quickly he came around :)

Valdeeves · 05/05/2014 20:45

That's good news, keep us up to date with his progress - let's hope for more awake time tomorrow.
Been on a family bike ride today - first time in many many years.
My bum is killing me, ha ha.

OP posts:
Mama1980 · 06/05/2014 07:35

Wonderful news, well done Halo! Grin I hope you enjoyed your mocktail celebration.
All is good here, took my children all to the coast yesterday predictably everyone headed straight for the water and Alex actually manage to genuinely outrun me, cue very wet clothes but a very happy boy. Note to self crutches do not work well on sand! Smile
I hope there s more good news and Halo wakes up again for a while today x

MultipleMama · 06/05/2014 08:01

Glad you had fun, mama. Seems like he enjoyed himself! :) :)

Yesterday afternoon, Halo was weaned off the ventilator (w/out steriods for the 1st time ever!), and so far he's doing well on CPAP. They also started introduce bm back into his diet of fluids - still no swallow reflex though. We had a visit from the PT and Halo made it quite clear he did not like her touching him and she obviously didn't get his SPD notes, all sorted now though.

Artie is being a PITA she's starting to refuse bottles and we've exhausted every option. She's not teething because she happily bf but just refuses droppers/bottle/cups. At my wits end with her, today.

I have an Ice hockey fitness test next week. My friend is a strength and conditioning coach and has agreed to work with me. I'm dreading it. I used to be able to jump forward 3 metres, I tried this morning; barely 2 metres so unfit
