I have never regretted anything more in my life. Took mifepristone a couple of days ago. My heart is broken. I don't want to proceed with second tablets.

Has anyone done this and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy? I am beside myself. Tried ringing EPU but they are closed on weekend. Spoke to out of hours GP who said he knew nothing about the tablets and that I need to speak to gynae but there's no one there. I feel such a mess.

Hi, so sorry to read about your situation. I read a thread on here a few months back with someone in same situation as you, she went to have her 12 week scan and baby was still alive. Im bot sure of the outcome after that as the post went quiet. Maybe have a search see if you could find it on here?
Hope everything works out well for you Flowers

I'm so sorry for your situation. There is a chance all will be ok if you wait it out. There were some doctors who would prescribe progesterone for this purpose but they are currently banned from doing so in the UK. You may wish to contact an organisation like ARCH for support and to see if there is any further advice they can give. www.archtrust.org.uk/ I really hope everything goes well for you. All the best.

I think this is the one I was talking about.

Thank you, that has given me some hope.

Thank you, yes I did read about the issue of being prescribed progesterone and that UK Doctors won't do that.

I will contact Arch when they are open tomorrow - thanks.

@Sudokuzebra

Wishing you the best of luck for your scan tomorrow.

Do you have any supportive friends or family around you ?Xxx

Thank you. Only one friend knows I'm pregnant as I've been waiting for the 12-week scan to tell others, but I haven't confided in her about the termination.

Just to update.

I went for a scan this afternoon and little one was there with a heartbeat and looks perfectly healthy according to sonographer, I have some photos and some videos and feel so so relieved. DH and I are counting our blessings.

Good news op, my friend went through this and was told without the second tablet it is likely that nothing will happen, she has gone on to have a healthy pregnancy and I'm wishing the same for you x

Unfortunately not. The first pill is to end the life of the Fetus. I had to have an abortion for medical reasons and had every step explained to me in great detail.

I'm so sorry OP

Have you not read the OP’s update?
MonsignorMirth · 08/11/2021 18:40

Ffs if you're ever going to deign to spend 5 minutes to rtft out of basic courtesy, you'd think one on this particular board might warrant it.

Almostmenopausal · 08/11/2021 18:43

@Warmduscher I have rtft but unfortunately Mifepristone can take a few days to take effect. With me it was 3.5 days. They had to check to make sure there was no heartbeat before giving me the second tablet.

Almostmenopausal · 08/11/2021 18:45

It was a horrendous experience and I kept asking them to give me another of the first tablet as it obviously hadn't worked but they refused. Kept reassuring me that the one I'd
taken would take effect

ShirleyPhallus · 08/11/2021 18:47

Ah good news OP, did they mention anything about additional checks just in case?

Starcaller · 08/11/2021 18:52

The first pill can sometimes end the pregnancy. With a previous termination, I started bleeding a couple of days after taking it, the morning I was due to take the second pills, which are the ones that expel it and completely finish it off. But the first pill alone quite often doesn't end the pregnancy, which is clearly what's happened here.

However, you need to contact your GP urgently, OP. The pill stops the production of progesterone, which stops the baby growing, so you may need to be prescribed some quickly. Did the scanning place know the background to the scan?
