I went for a scan yesterday, assuming Id be having my abortion on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

My lmp dates suggest im just over 7 weeks.

My scan showed I was around 5. They said I need to go back in two weeks time to redo the scan as they need to see a embryo and all they saw was a pregnancy sac (normal for 5 weeks).
I am so upset. Will I be over 9 weeks when I go back? Nurse said no- I will be around 7 weeks.
What date did your scan go by?
I'm really struggling, have no one to talk to and I'm so confused . Please someone help im begging you.

I think its a lot to with pain threshold - I personally don't think labour is anywhere near as bad as people make out but others have said it's the most painful thing they've experienced.

Failed abortions are very very rare

tryingtobestronger · 17/08/2016 13:24

They don't seem to be rare on here Sad
Do you think it will be like labour. I've never had a contraction

I think a lot of people on here exaggerate though and post horror stories - obviously not all of them.

I'm not sure it shouldn't be as strong as labour as there's obviously less to push. But i was induced and had back to back contractions my uterus overreacted to the pessaries and I'll be given them again if I can have medical which is worrying although I still didn't use painrelief then!

tryingtobestronger · 17/08/2016 13:33

No pain feeling at all Blushwas that because you didn't have a choice

No I chose not to - I'm a bit of a crank when it comes to stuff like pain relief though!

Working your self up can work two ways - when you have the procedure it won't be anywhere near as bad as you imagined or you can work yourself up to a point they won't go ahead with it.

tryingtobestronger · 17/08/2016 13:39

That's so brave.
Id normally class myself as not a wimp. If I'm sick i never call into work sick. I just see it out. I only take painkillers if I have bad bad period pain.

Then again I've never had to have a procedure like this.

From what I know, it is mostly like period cramps then actual contractions. Especially due to being less than 12 weeks, the further along you are the more painful it will be but it's said to be like periods pains. Everyone recommends heat pads and a paracetamol or similar.

tryingtobestronger · 17/08/2016 14:14

Period pains I can deal with. I think!

Advicepls7080 · 17/08/2016 14:21

If you look on Marie Stopes BPAS NHS Mayo clinic etc they say the pains are cramping misty described as period pains. :)

Advicepls7080 · 17/08/2016 14:22

I'm trying to read these rather than forums due to people who try and scare people. Although I'm still scared reading it on professional sites does make it feel better

tryingtobestronger · 17/08/2016 14:33

Are those from people who have had it done? Or just from what the clinics have said

OP posts:
Advicepls7080 · 17/08/2016 15:26

They've got feed back and what clinics have said.!

Right, in the kindest possible way, get a grip! Stop googling abortion stories, stop stressing about the pain and go and take your mind of it all. I genuinely mean that kindly. When I had convinced myself I had Ovarian cancer last month my normally kind, patient husband said something similar to me and it was the kick up the arse I needed to close the laptop and focus on something else.

I have lots of friends who have had terminations, not one of them said it was 'horrific' or 'unbearable'.

Like I mentioned earlier I miscarried at 14 weeks, it was uncomfortable and messy but it lasted a few hours and I was fine the next day.

tryingtobestronger · 17/08/2016 15:54

I'm really really really trying. I've been getting out of the house. Planning things . I've been trying so so hard.
This wait is just awful. I know people are going through so much worse. And I feel mean for complaining about this. I just can't help being scared. I've not been on the particular site for a week now as that stuff was literally all horrific, probably yes not true either. I can't seem to help it. I must be so annoying on here but there's literally no where else I can discuss it .... Sad

I desperately need and want to get a grip

I've been through so much worse than this with my first pregnancy. But I hadn't really learned to google symptoms and signs. I just went by the doctors words.
He was at extreme risk of being still born and even though I knew the risks I trusted in the doctors.

We got through that. Surely I can get through this.
