I'm 39 and 4+4 at the minute. I have only been with my bf 5 weeks and unfortunately got pregnant the first time we slept together. He knows and is being supportive as he can be. I'm booked in on 29th for 1st pill and back on 30th for 2nd lot. I'm so scared of the pain and bleeding . So many horror stories online. I know this is the right decision ut im so so terrified. Can anyone help shed some light on this..... help me settle my mind. X

Hope you're ok Scot.

Are you going alone? Do you know which kind of procedure you're going to have?

It's normal to be nervous it's such a big thing that you're going through. You just have to get through the day as best you can x

Hopefully not. Hoping bf will be there. I'm having medical. So not too worried about Tabley tomorrow. Just the other 4. On Tuesday. I nervous of the pain etc from all the horror stories online but there are some out there rather positive. I'm scared of what if it will fail. And scared I don't get home In time

Not sure if this will help settle your mind, I recently had a medical abortion. If you are taking the second set of pills orally you need to keep them in your mouth for 30 mins to dissolve and the nurses let me leave as soon as they were in so you may well have made it home before anything starts to kick in.
I hope it goes smoothly for you.

I have a 40 min drive home. Bf has instructions to floor it. How was the rest of it.....painful?

It took me about that long to get home and I made it back before it started. It wasn't as hideous as I thought it might be - I think I probably read the same horror stories on the net that you have. The first night I did dose up on painkillers and had a hot water bottle, had the shivers a bit but definitely didn't feel anything like contractions. I only had light bleeding for the first couple of days, which initially made me worry that it hadn't worked but it did then kick in with a couple of days of heavy bleeding. I wouldn't say that it massively impinged on day to day life I just made sure that I carried pads and knew where toilets were so I didn't have any accidents.

See I have a new years eve party to go to so I'm scared how I'll feel for that the day after. It's with my mum n partner out for a meal so bit on edge

Sorry not much I can suggest for that - if you're the same as me you'd barely be bleeding by that stage or it might have kicked in quickly. My suggestion would just be to make sure that you've kept up with the painkillers and don't drink too much as that can increase bleeding.

Not sure I'll sleep much tonight

1st appointment fine. But bf now can't take me tomorrow so I'm going to be all on my own and train takes about 1 hr 40 to get back. I'm petrified.

GilbertBlytheWouldGiftIt · 29/12/2014 20:33

Oh no, that doesn't sound good. Is there no way at all he can take you? Glad first appointment went ok for you.

RandomBob · 29/12/2014 21:20

Is there anyone else that can collect you or can you get a taxi back?

scotl66 · 29/12/2014 21:24

No. He's had day from hell. His flats been broken into and the boys dumped on him. So unfortunately I'm on my own..... any advice for smooth public transport home? Train at least has toilet on board which is a bonus.

Yeah first appointment was breeze. Very unassuming building. About 5 others in. Cheery music playing. Got called in. Went over name age. Contraception. Ran through what was going to happen and if I was sure. Took blood pressure and pin prick blood. Then got told I needed scan and I thought oh god here we go an internal scan....nope...normal scan. She went ooooh you have caught it early. 5 weeks 1 day. Then explained failure rates of pill and offered me to come back 6 hr.. 24 hr and 48 hr. I opted for 24 as im suppose to be put on new years eve. Got some water and took pill....its about 5p sized. Got given pregnancy tests to take at 4 and 5 weeks. And antibiotics. Oh and still swab to do which you get a text for results. Sat ba k out in waiting room for about 5 mins and then got next appointment and headed home. Felt fine all day. Odd taste in mouth and been sick once and tight feeling in tum but that's it.

scotl66 · 29/12/2014 21:26

Taxi I'd feel more panicky in than train. Would only take about 15 min less... cost a fortune and no toilet unlike train

OP posts:
scotl66 · 29/12/2014 21:27

And no one else knows

OP posts:
RandomBob · 29/12/2014 21:36

I know that when I went they advised not using public transport in case things kick in on the way home - i don't think so much bleeding because they advise you to wear a pad more the other possible side effects, sorry that's not helpful if your only option is train.
Though I was told that some women don't get any side effects and mine weren't too bad so even with the public transport you should make it home without a problem.

Stillyummy · 29/12/2014 21:43

You'll be ok. Just do the things you would do if you were having any other procedure- full fridge, off work, someone to look after you, some good films.

scotl66 · 29/12/2014 22:26

I have no one with my till after 6pm tomorrow so I'll have 3 hrs on my own
