Do you know the sex of your baby???

I am having my 21 wk scan next week and both me and DP can't wait to see if everything is OK and the sex of the baby!!!

Its our first baby and we fly off to Vegas the week after and am intending on buying lots of pink/blue stuff whilst on holiday.

Do you know what you are having??????

No, i don't know what i'm having. I wanted to find out but DH didn't, so he won the argument, but i'm now very very glad that we don't know. There are very few surprises left in this world and I want to go through the birth with some degree of excitment.

I'm also not a big fan of pink for girl, blue for boy, so it's not really essential for us to know before hand - the nursery is unisex, and so will any clothes be.

We also have absolutly no preference for either sex, so don't really need to know before the birth. And of course there's always the chance of getting it wrong!

Good luck with your scan, and I hope you enjoy Vegas, I went a couple of years ago and had a blast

I didn't find out with DS, mainly due to DH not wanting to...I am really thinking of finding out with this one, though...

I had an amnio and opted to find out the sex from that - 100% reliable unlike a scan!

I absolutely hate surprises!

Too nosy to wait I'm afraid. Couldn't find out with DS1 as he had his legs crossed during the scan, but found out with DS2 and DD.

i didn't find out. and i didn't want to.
the last few weeks of pregnancy are SO boring, and it's lovely to have a big surprise!
we had a few unisex bits of clothing and when ds was born we were inundated with blue stuff for him
it's exciting not knowing what it'll be

How much of a surprise can it really be though? It's going to be one or the other!

I knew before hand but I'm pretty sure it didn't make any difference whether I knew or not when it she was born. She was a surprise anyway, a beautiful one!

It was nice to have the surprise during the scan. Dh was sooo convinced she would be a boy, he's convinced me too

No. We are not offered 20 weeks scans here so we do not get to find out the sex.

we found out with DD (was 90% sure she was a girl if they had said boy I would have fallen off the table)

it was lovely finding out I think it helped us bond with her, she was named and we refered to her by her name rather than it or the bump.

am 19 weeks tomorrow and so desperate to find out again, I can understand people wanting the surprise but I'm a very impatient person

we didn't find out with dd. I loved being told "it's a girl"

We do know what we're having this time round. More because dh wanted to know than me. Also it's nice for dd to know what shes getting.

Although I'm still reluctant to rush out and buy lots of blue bits. I know of 3 ladies who were told the incorrect sex so I'm still not convinced!!! Needless to say, we have decorated the nursery in neutral colours

I ask and was told i was most deffantly having a girl, and i was told this weekly (i was scanned weekly) untill i was 39 weeks then to be told i was deffantly having a bay and that blob was a large scrotum!

I made the mistake of buying lots of girly clothes and ended up selling them!

I would strongly advise byuing enough unisex clothes to last aswell as your colours!

I really hope we can find out My DP is flying back from Taiwan early to be there. I don;t care what it is so long as it is healthy. DP would like a boy but is not really bothered.

I still can't quite believe I am having a baby!!!!!!

Oh and getting married next month

My dad keeps saying that I'm all grown up now. I just smile as I'm 27 have a career own my own home etc but am all grown up because I'm having a baby.

If I am half as good a parent as mine have been I will do a great job.

First time round I would have liked to have found out and figured it was a nice suprise whenever you find out. Our health authority won't tell you though so I did not find out until the delivery when my DH and I saw her.

It was a special moment and I loved that little extra after all the hard work was done. Still, this time round I toyed with the idea of getting a private scan at 20 weeks so I would know if I could get rid of the mountain of girl clothes before we moved house. DH adamantly did not want to know and now that I am near 37 weeks pregnant I am loving not knowing more than last time round. I love the anticipation at the end of pregnancy anyway - what will baby look like, what will the birth be like and waiting to find out what the dynamic of our family will be (even stevens or DH out-numbered by girls) is an added extra.

awww double congrats dyzzidi!

I dont know sex of baby, legs firmly crossed at scan. I did want to find out so I could get it all sorted in my mind as dont want to feel a way towards baba if he's a he IYKWIM.

Can't wait to meet her/him.

dyzz - yes we found out as with our first. We are having another girl, which is nice for our first dd, although am sure the appearence of a new baby would have been a shock no matter what.

I SOOOO jealous you are off to vegas, I went last year and had a blast, it was lots of fun as long as you don't take it too seriously! My dh is desperate to go back but it is probably going to be at least another year or two before we get the chance!

Didnt find out with Jess and dont know with this one.... i like the suprise.... we were so sure Jess was a boy, that it made it even more special when we saw she was a girl!
I didnt go through labour to get what i had been expecting... i went through it for the suprise at the end!

I can't wait to get to Vegas as we are getting married there on 7 Sept. We go two weeks today and are all really excited.

awwww, that's lovely. Make sure you get some serious pampering while you are out there, there are some great spas. I did not do it as I was too busy deluding myself that I was going to win a fortune!!!

You are going to have a great time! the shows, the grand canyon, the great food, the shops & of course your wedding - vegas is just one big grown up playground!

I asked at my 20 week scan (100% convinced that it was a girl - had dreamt of her, named her - everything!) ony to be told that 'well, it's not shy..have a look...it's a boy!'
That was a really special moment and definitely made for bonding. DH and I also now refer to him by the name we've chosen. I appreciate that they can get it wrong and I have neither decorated or bought lots of blue so if there is a mistake I will be happy either way, however, I'm glad i found out. The surprise for me will be getting through childbirth full stop. Am sure by the time it's over will not be caring what it is other than healthy....changing subject swiftly.....

Congrats on your pregnancy and wedding and have a lovely trip!

first of all congratulations on your pregnancy.
i found out with dd, was a little shocked as i was convinced she was a boy. found out again this time, and it's definetly correct as i saw for myself on the 3d scan we had. i'm too impatient to wait, and my bump has a name and it feels really nice.
secondly, wow on the vegas wedding, that is my dream. went there last october and loved every second, hope it all goes well, i want to say my vows in a beautiful little chapel just off the strip, then limo ride to the valley of fire for my photos. god i'm soooooooo jealous. how are you doing it or are you not telling?

Have fun in Vegas - we got married there 3 years ago, at the drive-thru little white wedding chapel, in a fab AC Cobra car, followed by pony trekking on a ranch by the Grand Canyon. It was lovely.
Didn't find out the sex until dd was born. For me, I will never forget the excitement after grotty labour of dh and I looking at this new baby and simultaneously saying "it's a girl". Absolutely amazing experience. Haven't found out this time. Though am convinced it's a boy (and I "felt" that dd was a girl, so we shall see).

I really don't think it ruined the surprise at the end of labour seeing that little face and thinking "OMG that came out of me" was surprise enough. TBH I loved knowing for sure she was a girl, I used to go shopping and say to her "when your a big girl we'll go shoe shopping together" people must have thought I was insane.

The thing with clothes is that most people who don't know the sex buy a load of unisex then go out and buy a load of pink /blue afterwards (remember you'll get tons of pressies too) I think it's to stop people going "what is it?" into the pram every 5 mins although DD could be head to toe in pink and someone would say "Isn't he lovely?"
