Brill news WYG, yes it does have rather nice moments

Gilda we have the same problem but the other way around - our deal is I do girls' names, Himself does boys'. He's got loads of suggestions - but after dd i have NONE!. We have an awkward surname which tends towards easy for boys but most girls' names turn into tonguetwisters. Looks like we both need to do some thinking, lady! PS don't mention Mrs Doyle, I'm gagging for tea & toast but tea tastes horrible and toast makes me sick. (sympathy please. Ah go on.)

Am off for a rest - dh had taken dd swimming so have peace this morning. Ahh, bliss after active baby and noisy puppies all night. Not to mention antisocial strimmers outside the window at 8.00am.

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone!

Hi all

Well the fish worked (or maybe it was hearing the heartbeat this afternoon at my 16 week appointment- yay ) and I am feeling more positive (and rested, after 2 days off work mostly sleeping...). 4 weeks til our 20 week scan- we think we?re going to find out but then not tell anyone else so we can have the fun (wrote fin then, obviously still on the fish train of thought) of announcing after it?s born. Gilda we have the same problem, girls name fine, boys name... not a lot. So of course expecting it to be a boy. Not that I mind at all either way, DH would like a girl though as there aren?t any in his family .

Clareanna and WYG hurray on your scans. Unbuffy, quite envious of the lab puppies. I love labs (grew up with them- both black) but DH is allergic to most dog fur so we are rather limited. Love our Bedlie (Bedlington Terrier) girl though glad we didn?t get a second dog this year as we were planning to- house training a pup and being pregnant I can?t imagine being entirely pleasant...

Anyway, hope everyone else is feeling well and I shall stow the fish away for safe keeping for now...

Unbuffy · 15/07/2010 17:49

fab fish sparkly! And news

AlbaDeTamble · 15/07/2010 19:40

great to hear lovely news on scans, congrats all round!

Unbuffy, those puppies sound soooo cute!

Hectic week, finishing off work, feeling v tired and headachy and getting ready to head off on holiday tomorrow evening. Lake district for the week, with all the kids. Forecast to be lots of rain, should be fun!

Actually always find it really relaxing there, even if the kids in v small space can get a little trying at times... Fingers crossed the rain isn't too persistent.

Anyway - I shall probably be out of touch for a bit -- no mobile phone reception, let alone internet access

Hope the happy scan news continues whilst I'm away -- big waves to all

Muser · 15/07/2010 22:20

Chat more over the weekend,

Happy Girl

Redheadgal · 16/07/2010 11:11

Flying visit I'm afraid. Just checking in to see how you're all doing. Glad to hear about positive scans/midwife appointments! Also glad to see the smelly kipper has been banished for the moment. All's going well here (as far as I can tell). No more bleeding and I'm getting bigger and bigger. I can only assume that's a good sign...

Hope to swing by again later to catch up properly. xxx

louisesh · 16/07/2010 13:31

Hi all lovely news about all the fab scans!!!!

All well here now 29 weeks EEK!!!!! Had another private scan last week my mum and dad came in to see the scan which was lovely. The sonographer brillant and took ages explaining all all looks as it should. All measurements good for my dates.

Been dying of a cold , i know you are immune suppresssed when pg but gods sake felt like i was dying for over a week.Had week off ill from work and only just starting to feel human again....Apert from the fact i now can t hear properly due to remains of the cold!!!!!

Hope everyones ok...all being well will return to work next week.2 weeks ago went to look around different mat suite and now decided where i m giving birth soo now booked in at said hospital.[we live in the middle of 2 hospitals, about 30 mins from each and i have/do work in both soo not much in it really]

Got my HIP grant actually only took 8 days from returning my application forms to the money being credited to my account, very impressed with that....We ve already bought a pushchair/pram now to buy a car seat tomorrow with same.

BunnyBaby · 16/07/2010 17:49

Hi everyone, there must definitely be a moving bug in the air! We exchanged yesterday, so we'll be in our new place next Thursday!

I decided this time round that the removal men can pack us as well as move us, so can sit back and relax!

Feeling unbelievable tired today, and DS1 has so much energy, watching him play in the garden today, and put him down to bed but it's me who wants to go to bed.

Louise great news on the scan and getting all the lovely things for baby!

We got DS1 an Usborne book on life events, moving, new baby, plane journey, doctor, dentist, which he seems very interested in, he's 2.5

LadyBee · 16/07/2010 19:10

Updating for today, have taken some other 'expired' scan dates.

Are any of our lurkers feeling like adding themselves to the list? Just to see the days ticking by can be quite reassuring. Whisper if you'd like it

LadyBee · 16/07/2010 19:35

I think tonight is going to be another early one - just feel dead on my feet today. In fact, right now, I feel:

  1. Dead tired
  2. Ravenous
  3. Unable to think of a single thing I'd actually like to eat to help with no.2 above.

It's a tragic state (woe woe).

WYG lovely news about your scan the other day. You sounded so chuffed

Gi1da I got completely freaked out the responsibility of having to come up with someone's name. My own is quite unusual distinctive so I think I invest them with quite a lot of importance. Wasn't until the last weeks that we agreed on a couple of choices and only once DS was born that we settled on one.

Sparkly hooray for hearing the heartbeat at your appt as well - I'm just longing to get to that point

Alba I hope you have a lovely relaxing and not too damp break in the Lakes.

BunnyBaby congrats on exchanging - it's really happening, just the packing and moving to go now!! and Goodluckbear fingers crossed it all pans out for you too.

Muser and HappyGirl hope the prospect of scans next week doesn't preoccupy you too much over the weekend. Got any plans to keep your mind off things?

Louisesh that grant is such a welcome boost, I hope it'll still be around when I get there - good thinking to use it for the carseat. We borrowed ours but the friends who lent it to us need it back as they're having their second soon. Not sure it'll survive a third round.

Hi to everyone I've missed, thank goodness for the end of the week, huh? DH is being brilliant about his limp dishrag of a DW, currently taking over bath/bed duties. The tiredness has really hit this week, am looking forward to the weekend mostly so that I can have a nap in the afternoon. I've been desperate for it at work this week but I think that would raise a few eyebrows
Poor old DS has had to put up with a short-tempered mummy, finding it hard to deal with his 2-year-old-ness sometimes. Hey ho, I apologise when I realise it's me that's the problem not him and he cheerfully says 'that's ok mummy, you're a ratbag' and everything seems to be ok again.

I wonder if DH will realise I'm counting on him to make food appear. I don't want to think about it at all as it will just make whatever I think about seem unappetizing. Just want it to be in front of me so I can eat it and then fall asleep. That's not too much to ask now is it??

louisesh · 16/07/2010 20:54

Ladybee you ll be fine with the HIP grant its not stopping until April 2011.It makes a change to get something for nothing!!!

Have a lovely weekend everyone

Muser · 17/07/2010 10:44

I don't know what I'm going to do this weekend LadyBee. Was meant to be going for a lovely meal tonight for my birthday (was Weds). But I cancelled it as the table wasn't until 8.30pm and I'm normally in bed by 9.30pm at the moment! Plus I feel so queasy all the time that the food would be wasted on me.

So I'm trying to decide where I might like to go for lunch instead. But, like you, I can't decide what I want to eat.

Hope you found something appealing for lunch Muser, the nausea can be a real bugger. I'm trying to be grateful not to be suffering with it so badly this time.

Oh dear, I answered a few threads on the miscarriage boards earlier today and then stupidly read some. So sad, and just not what I should have done to maintain a positive attitude.

I'm back wondering whether to get an another early scan and knowing it wouldn't be a guarantee anyway. Oof.

Congrats Liahgen - wishing you lots of luck with this pg and a very uneventful pg too. Great you are joining us here.

No news with me, had two big family occasions the last two nights and I'm just exhausted, can barely bring myself to get off the couch. Getting quite nervous for Tuesday's scan but fingers crossed it will go well.

Have a happy Sunday

Liahgen such brilliant news! Really pleased to see you again!

I've just got back from a hen weekend in Swansea, am so tired now, was a lot of fun but I was shattered by midnight. Enjoyed inhaling nibbling on all the snacks and generally eating! ha ha

Now chilling out on our last Sunday ever in this house!

See you all later

All you people with social lives... The highlight of my weekend has been persuading myself it's stupid to scrub the floor before potty training in a fornight, and with puppies, and decorating still to do. For some reason scrubbing floors and pregnancy seem to go together for me. It's my dirty little secret (or should that be clean)... Fish, anyone? Think I need it...

Hope the move goes well, Bunny - and GLB when it comes around!
