Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VivClicquot · 08/09/2010 09:03

:) Tell me about it. I've had that "time goes by... so slowly... time goes by ... so slowly" bit of Madonna's Hung Up going round my head for days and days now.

Tomorrow's my work team away day where we will be going to Go Ape and I think I've taken the decision to try and do it if I can, but not to push myself if I start feeling uncomfortable or worried - DH has done it before and says there's nothing about it which could do any damage (so to speak) so fingers crossed it will all be okay. (TBH - given this morning's nausea, my biggest fear is vomming half way down a zip wire Grin)

(I don't want to fess up to work yet, and seeing a I was the one who pushed for Go Ape, it will look well suspicious if I suddenly wimp out!)

Oh and Hopefully - I forgot to wish you luck at the docs today. Hope he comes up trumps with the scan. x

Hopefully · 08/09/2010 09:42

Back from doc - he's referred me to MW, said there's nothing he can do to hurry the scan, but doesn't see why there should be much of a delay - apparently lots of women don't book in till gone 10 weeks.

Also had a slightly amusing moment when I told him I really want a CS this time, after traumatic delivery last time. He was totally supportive and told me to keep badgering the MW if they were pressuring me to have a natural delivery, and added, "I don't know if you know Mumsnet, but it's a great resource if you're looking for arguments for the kind of birth you want." I resisted asking how he knows it so well Grin

AlbaDeTamble · 08/09/2010 10:16

Yay, that's great hopefully, lovely to have a supportive GP.

Viv, are you going to Grisedale Forest? I did that one a couple of years ago, all fine once I got over fear of heights except leap at the end from platform to scramble net... I had to do it as was with DSD and pretending it was all fine, but if I were you just now I'd wimp out of that bit and go the alternative easy route that they have, even if it costs you a round of drinks! Good luck, hope you can enjoy it Smile

AlbaDeTamble · 08/09/2010 10:38

Just one other thing Viv, remember your body and mind are incredibly good at stopping you doing stuff you shouldn't... I was learning to ski at wk3 with this one and suddenly became hugely scared and cautious a day or two in (on hindsight right after baby was conceived), much more than usual. I must subconsciously have 'known' I was pregnant and my risk taking just went completely out the window. If it doesn't feel right you'll shake like a leaf and have to give up (like I did and slid down a slightly steep green run on my bum Blush) and just live with the ribbing from your colleagues who'll all assume it's just vertigo and you're a wimp! Hope that helps...

VivClicquot · 08/09/2010 10:38

Yes, that's the one. Am glad you think I'll be okay doing it as I do normally love things like that! Plus, I think me wimping out of that would raise much more suspicion than me not drinking during the night out afterwards - I reckon I can sidestep that quite easily if I've thrown myself down a zip line beforehand. :)

VivClicquot · 08/09/2010 10:40

Ooh cross-post. Good point. I can live with the ribbing. I think. Wink

Unbuffy · 08/09/2010 11:02

Morning all

Sounds like fun, Viv, I have to say. Enjoy what you can and as Alba says don't do what your (very wise) body says not to. Have to say I'd love to be able to get out and DO stuff, feel a bit caged in at the moment - so as I say, enjoy it while you can (hollow laugh, ho ho ho, the forthcoming joys and all that)

Alba glad you're feeling brighter, it comes and goes (see below!) and every good day is a GOOD day. iyswim.

Magic hope all goes well today. Why does everything always happen all at once on the same day?! Thinking of you though.

Funny old day here, not really a good'n though, keep crying for no good reason and want to curl up and make everything go awaaaaay. Unfortunately have child, am with child, feel sick, have poorly neighbour and still have puppies. Actually can't wait for the last-but-one to go and am currently having second, third and fourth thoughts about keeping one. And dh on a particularly stressful training thing so have to be helpful and supportive and stuff.

Sorry, a bit meme but a blue day!

batteryhen · 08/09/2010 11:13

Morning all,

hopefully gald your Doc was so good - I am sure you will have no problem in getting in for your 12 week scan on time.

magic - good luck today - hope you feel better after seeing your double beans on screen!
viv I also have started feeling sick this week, and its usually first thing and last thing of the day - I am also taking it as a good sign!
unbuffy it sounds like you are a busy lady with children, puppies and DH ! I hope you do find a little time for yourself!

All is fine over here in the hen coop - not much to report. I haven't booked to see the MW yet, and am still debating if I should try and get an early scan. My friend has just found out she is pregnant again after a MMC and her Dr is sending her for a scan tomorrow..... might wait a bit - sounds silly but I just want to be pregnant and if it's all going to go wrong then I don't want to know yet. It's awful to be thinking like this!

louisesh · 08/09/2010 11:50

Hi all hope ll are well?

Just been to see my midwife....Grh my BP diastolic was 87 on my left arm and 89 on right arm!!!!! Apparently their "magic" number is 90 for worries about pre-eclampsia!!!! I ve only a very small amount of oedema,no visual disturbances,no headaches.....But MW wants to come and re-check my BP tomorrow.....Soo don t want a problem as going away on a luxury weekend to Thoresby hall in Nottingham on Friday.Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

BP suppose to drop when you finish work however, been that busy mine has stayed the same as it was at work!!!

Hope everyone's okSmile

PenguinsMummy · 08/09/2010 11:56

Hi All,

I'm feeling really sick at the moment too. Started at the weekend and is continuing at a fairly constant rate. Throwing up in work toilets is not fun! But all in a good cause so am perversely pleased Smile

Am also expanding rapidly so I don't think I am going to go unnoticed for the next 5 weeks but whatever - I shall just have to ignore the stares from work colleagues!

I've got my booking in appointment with the midwife next Friday - all seeming a bit real now.

I told my mum and dad last night but it made me feel really weepy so I just asked them to not talk about it for a few weeks until I feel like I can get excited.

magic best of luck with seeing your beans today!

HappyGirl1 · 08/09/2010 12:01

Hi All,

Busy thread this morning Smile

Magic Best of luck today - enjoy seeing your babies! how exciting.. best best best of luck

Hopefully great that your doc was supportive, that's very helpful of him. I got my scan quite quickly so really hope you do too.

Viv that's hard that you are feeling sick but definitely a good sign that your body is working super hard to support little baby inside you. Enjoy go Ape also!

Unbuffy you sound down you poor thing, sounds like you have LOADS going on - maybe treat yourself to some nice chocolate cake or something of the chocolate variety and hopefully that'll help if only for a few mins!

Not much news here, baby moving lots - was actually quite sore yesterday when it did but don't mind at all. Started Pregnancy Yoga - I was pretty useless as missed the first week. Baby nursery furniture arrived which was exciting!
