Dropping in quickly to check on the meita news..... Oh honey you are so close now. Very exciting - will wait to hear. I've forgotten that mantra they give you at NCT but can you ask them what are the options of holding off - and then you can make an informed decision? Fingers crossed for you.

Lee - great to see you! No expereince of C sections I'm afraid

Magic - fingers crossed for your sister and little ones

Redheadgirl - great news re the scan!

Hopefully - we debated an early scan but decided not to in the end. Very personal thing but in our case we decided it wouldn't make any difference to the outcome and so preferred a "put your head in the sand" and try not to think about it until 12 weeks approach!

Back later - very impressed by jam making! Looking at my pig sty of a house waiting for this nesting urge to kick in.... Keep thinking of that episode of Cold Feet where she hires a cleaning company! Grin

Unbuffy · 23/08/2010 09:39

Also a quicky to say GO MEITA GO - Pompoms at the ready...Grin

Am not MIA, please don't lose me off the list, you ladies are all that's keeping me going atm.

boodleboot · 23/08/2010 10:35

ooh lee that sounds like a gd idea...i will spk to gp as my sleep is ruined...

am very fed up today....so close yet i feel so far away from the prize...how ridiculously selfcentred eh..our labour ward tour was cancelled yesterday which bummed me out...also my kids keep messing up my nest!! i so hear you about getting cleaners in....i must admit i actually enquired about costs but was shocked by how much my sloth was going to cost me haaa.

scans are a v personal choice and this preg i have had two private and six nhs for one thing or another altho all were reassurance really....i needed them as driving myself bonkers but i think holding off til twelve wk scan is grt as like u say outcomes cant be changed....god willing all will be amazing!!

anyone picked their names yet?

Ba8y1 · 23/08/2010 11:41

Just dropping by to see if any news on Meita! Good luck lady, hope all goes fabulously!!

On another note, I was just wondering if I could ask some advice from you all? I'm now 16+3 and was kinda hoping that the constant nausea, but more importantly the crippling tiredness would have abated by now, but no such luck - feel utterly dreadful still and now seriously starting to worry its going to be like this until 40 weeks. DH, home and work life all suffering - any advice? Is this normal? Will it ever stop?!! (Oh and not anaemic, bloods checked last week when bleeding - ?? something else?)

Hope everyone else is better! No time to name check as usual (still only able to check this at work!! oops)

TC Grin xx

HappyGirl1 · 23/08/2010 14:07

Meita - best of luck!! Can't wait to hear your news!

Ba8y1 - my nausea didn't go until about 17 weeks then stayed away til 20, went again til 24 i.e. now - so I seem to get it in fits and starts! The tiredness thing well I just don't know about this whole you get more energy thing cos although I'm not in bed by 8.30 anymore like in the first 12 weeks i'm certainly in bed by 10.30. I used to be one of these women who would happily get by on 6 hours a night. I'm a minimum 8 hour a night girl now!

Got our 25 week appt on Wednesday. Baby moving lots which is great although I still can't see any feet / legs etc. Moving loads today which is all great. However I'm getting quite funny pains today too which are slightly worrying - all over my bump that are really making me wince. Trying not to worry as it is hopefully just because baby is moving around more. We are getting our furniture delivered today (much much earlier than we wanted but M&P had 20% off so couldn't really say no) so now I'm getting all superstitious I just really really hope little baby is okay in there. But I think because it's moving it's letting me know hopefully that it is.

Gosh an MC really does make us all paranoid I think.

Boodle - we have picked 2 girls names and pretty much know which we will go with - boys wise though we are really struggling - we have a few we like but not love if that makes sense. I'm convinced we are having a boy too cos I keep admiring all the blue things (well convinced today, yesterday convinced it was a girl!) but just can't decide on boys names!

Gi1da · 23/08/2010 19:33

Hey Happy lots of moving about must be good news, am sure mw can reassure you about pains on Wednesday, surely just things stretching, pinging, rearranging or whatever weird stuff goes on in there - I get the odd very sharp twinge now and then but as I am also now definitely feeling movements (wasn't really sure till about 20 weeks) I am going to assume everything is ok. No reason why it shouldn't be! Smile

Ba8y1 I haven't felt sick in some time but am still definitely exhausted! In bed by 10pm latest and get a bit puffed out going up the two flights of stairs to the office. Our house is on three floors so it's a bit of a bugger when I go from the basement (kitchen) to the bedroom then forget what I went up there for! Hope you start feeling better soon though, certainly the nausea bit, you get used to being knackered! Good luck!

Boodle shame about the ward visit, did I make it up in my head that you're going to QE?
Grin about the sloth tax! I don't have the excuse of kids messing up my space, WHO LEFT THAT THERE oh arse, it must have been me...Blush Hope you get a good night's sleep soon.

Hopefully totally understand not having a scan. I was holding out but then got to a point at 10 weeks where I was getting too anxious not to. Positive vibes to you!

Redhead ooh I missed that - happy pink news!!

Samb hats off to you for jamming!

Magic8s I hope all went well with MagicSis today. Fx

Alba & Samb read with interest your comments on doulas. Am hoping to have a home birth, and not sure if I need a doula or whether another person is too many in our small house. I would like someone to support DH as much as me (he is not as enthusiastic about home birth but can understand why I want to try). Have had a look through main doula uk site, but would rather have someone recommended than try to pick someone via the net. Feel a bit awkward about interviewing for it... if anyone knows a wonderful doula in the SE London / Greenwich / Blackheath area (who isn't that precious about Christmas) please let me know!

Clareanna how's tricks with you? Was the Ritz as vintagely fabulous as I imagine - please say yes!

Did someone here go to Vintage at Goodwood or did I dream that - would love to hear about it. (Big midcentury modern design fan here).

Lovely cup of tea and an eckles cake to Unbuffs (or swap for nom nom of your choice!) Hope all's well at Buff Towers. Sounds like its been going well on the potty, and hope the pups are taking note!

Meita looking forward to congratulating you soon. Best of luck!

Big waves to everyone I've missed - hope everyone's doing well at whichever stage they're at. I love this thread for its spanning of the whole duffers shebang. And cos you lot are fab of course Blush

LeeWT I haven?t had any sections but do have a close friend who has had two. She had a terrible time with her first labour which resulted in an emergency situation. The second time she was offered a section and jumped at the chance. She is a big fan. I saw her at the weekend and we were talking about it. For her she did need a lot of support at home following the delivery but found it to be a wonderful experience rather than the stressful birth with her first baby.

TFLS I can?t help the nesting part. I am like a woman possessed and have been for a month now. In fairness I think that it?s partly due to being a teacher and leaving all domesticity until the summer holidays...I am making plum jam later today Smile. We haven?t seen you for a while, how are you getting on? You?re nearing the top of the list!

Unbuffy I promise I won?t take you off the list. It was a one off when we did it before because quite a few people hadn?t posted for months. How are you doing? I hope you are feeling a little better. You?re heading for the third trimester! As someone else said, it?s nice that our thread spans the whole of pregnancy rather than us all being at the same stages. I remember all those below me joining the thread!

Boodle You are so close now ? already term. I read a comment somewhere else that the last three weeks seemed to take years to pass and the first three with the baby fly by. My girls are not allowed to mess up my nest ? they are having to nest as well! There is some resistance I have to say. I can?t wait til they go back to school and aren?t here being untidy all day!

Baby1 My nausea didn?t pass until about 14 weeks but I had picked up by 16. I have a friend whose nausea didn?t ever pass. She was lucky in that she didn?t have to work and had an au pair so she had a lot of help at home. She does laugh about it now but she did really suffer. Have you found things that help with it? Is it bad enough to consider anti sickness meds?

Happygirl I have had all manner of aches and pains during this pregnancy. I keep putting it down to being so much older and less fit than with my previous pregnancies. DH is very level headed about all of these things and is constantly reassuring me. It?s just one of those things that happens when you have miscarried I think. There is no harm in calling your midwife when you are worried. It is what they are there for.

Gilda I only know the one doula. I did think though that it might be worth giving her a call and asking if she knows anyone in your area. You?re not that far from me so she may well have other doula friends. Alternately you could get in touch with your local NCT branch and ask if any of their members or ante natal teachers are doulas as well. That is how I happen to know the one I do.

Meita I am assuming that your absence is due to your labour! I am thinking of you and sending good labour vibes your way.

I am having another scan today. I always get excited that I am going to see my baby again until I remember why I am there. The consultant and doctors always worry me when they talk of the seriousness of my cyst Sad. I had an awful day yesterday with the back and bump pain. It was the first time where I thought, I?m done here. I am ready for the baby to be born. And not quite 32 weeks either Sad. I just spend all day lying down on my right side because I was in pain sitting and standing. I feel awful for my children too who are not getting the most exciting school holiday experience (that said, DD2 is currently wheeling a doll baby around in our new pram and is as happy as Larry!). My DH is very supportive and reassuring, saying that pain and discomfort is to be expected at this stage. I kind of agree but I?m not sure that I think that this pain is so usual. It?s really high up around my ribs. I don?t feel the baby kicking me there either so I don?t think it?s that. I was quite low by the end of the day. Just weepy and disillusioned. I did sleep all night though and have woken up feeling much more positive. I am starting to think that having been head down for weeks that the baby might be transverse now as I don?t have the feeling of pressure in my bladder or cervical area any more. It?s all that lying on my right side instead of the left. I have found through trial and error that it is worse if I sit with my bottom lower than my knees. I tend to spend most of my time on the birthing ball which is most comfortable.

This is an enormous post, hello to everyone I haven?t name checked. I?ll report back with scan details later (and to hear news of Meita I hope!), SB x

SamanthaB123 · 24/08/2010 09:07

Sorry Gilda we cross posted!

AlbaDeTamble · 24/08/2010 09:24

Sam, thinking of you, hope you don't get the grumpy sonographer and get lots of lovely explanations and only a short wait. I'm dragging my achy coldy self off to school shortly with DSS for GCSE results... Rather nervous and crossing fingers the bright but lazy boy manages enough to scrape into school's 6th form...

Sorry, no big namecheck today, but thinking of you all, and special big hug for Unbuffy

SamanthaB123 · 24/08/2010 09:29

Hi Alba, have that feeling of doom that only occurs when you know that you are about to get appalling medical treatmet and somehow you are powerless to change it Sad.

Unbuffy · 24/08/2010 09:32

fab namecheck Gilda!

Hi to everyone, best wishes shouting to Magic's Sister, Meita, Hopefully, Ba8y and anyone else not feeling full of the joys of spring. And to Boodle - top o' the list beckons...

Boodle we have a Deal in our house - Himself does boys' names, I do girls' (although they have to be approved!) So we've still got the Boys' from last time, but I used up my only girls' idea on dd so have to think about that one a bit. Hmmmm Hmm

Ba8y no more nausea except when I eat certain things - bread, for example (grrr), and lots of indigestion now instead. As for the crippling tiredness, it just seems to have got worse! It was so much easier last time - I sigh for the days of innocence, no worries about movements, what's going to happen at the birth, and no busy busy grumpy toddler around. I'm sure I had more energy then too... perhaps because I could eat carbs without feeling sick...

Gilda very Envy about your homebirth plan. I would soooo love a homebirth but dd was a section and we live an hour from the hospital. I have an appointment with the Community Matron (w[ho]tf?) tomorrow, who will hopefully go through my notes from dd's birth and let me know what I'm allowed to do - not a lot I suspect, probably constant monitering and lots of people and flat on me back Angry - great for chlaustrophobia and panic attacks. Am terrified that this will lead to lack of progression and another section.

As for the potty training we've had a regression - my parents and my brother and my sister came for the weekend and Herself got naturally spoiled rotten with all the attention and now won't sit on the potty. Back to stage one. And she keeps saying NO. To EVERYTHING. Which is winding me right up.

Do hope you're all well, would not wish this depressedness on anyone Sad. Hello and chocolate buttons to everyone instead!

SamanthaB123 · 24/08/2010 09:38

Sorry...and I hope your son has done enough to go to 6th form, fx!

Unbuffy · 24/08/2010 09:39

Crossed posts with Sam, Alba and Sam again!

Very best of luck today, Sam.Do hope they are nice to you and not the usual. Sounds rubbish - how are you managing to do nesting as well?!??!

Waves to Alba and fx for results!

AlbaDeTamble · 24/08/2010 10:50

Phew! 5A 5B, nothing stunning (his friends have strings of A*s) but good enough, not bad for a lazy wotsit!! Here's hoping he'll be a bit more motivated with just the subjects he really wants to do.

Unbuffy, I can't stand that no to everything routine, drives me mad!! Hope she decides to stop being a little madam for you soon.

Sam, really do hope they surprise you today. Right, I'm off back to bed...

Unbuffy · 24/08/2010 11:12

It's when you know very well that she wants something. Eg, a snack / drink. And she says 'no' every time, then asks for it straight away. And potty is even WORSE... Don't even get me started on getting off it and spraying everywhere...

TMI...TMI...TMI...
On the subject, incidently, does anyone else's life smell permanently of wee? It might be my SuperPregSenseOfSmell or the constant bladder kicks -> constant loo trips but I swear I smell of wee all the time (nothing to do with dd or piddletail puppies)? Is It Just Me?
...END OF TMI...

AlbaDeTamble · 24/08/2010 12:43

Unbuffy, you don't smell permanently of wee, I promise you... but the potty training and puppies quite possibly mean you can smell wee most of the time, which with your super-sensitive smell could be pretty pungent.
One benefit of this horrid cold, I can't smell a thing! Which is possibly a very good thing, as I moped in bed from Friday night till this morning & I must have reeked... slowly starting to feel better now which is such a relief, I thought it was never ending...........
The 'no' thing is, I gather from a few books, a good sign that they're learning to assert their independence... soooo frustrating though! I think we're supposed to pretend to ignore them when they're being deliberately annoying, but I find that particularly impossible to do when I'm feeling down or under the weather, which leaves a catch 22...... Can you do an hour's CBeebies and give yourself a break for a nap (or good book and nice cup of tea, or even a good cry to get some of the frustration out) in the hope that it helps you feel just little a bit better? Or will DD play with some of her favourite toys on the bathroom floor for you, just for 20 mins so you can have a quick soak in some lovely scented bubbles, to give your nose a break from the puppies and potties??

Good luck tomorrow... as for constant monitoring, I was strapped to one of those heartbeat/contraction monitor things when being induced with DS hated the idea of it but it wasn't as bad as it could have been, at no point was I flat on my back, could move a little and gave birth on hands and knees. I'd dreaded the idea of being on my back in hospital and had been hoping for a nice active homebirth, but as it was in the end, nowhere near as bad as I'd feared it could be. Did need to have DH being quite firm with them about what I wanted though... Is your DH able to go with you tomorrow?

SamanthaB123 · 24/08/2010 13:27

Ok, so I have returned. It wasn't so bad if you assume that you will spend the whole day there and take lunch. The doctor was good which is probably the most important thing. So, the cyst is the same size as always. This is good. The pain that I am having is in an area where there are a number of things all competing for space - the placenta, the feet, the cyst, my ribs and my lungs. It is probably caused by a combination of too many limbs and things and not enough room. It may be aleviated if the baby engages as she will be lower down, but she will be bigger/be getting bigger, so it may not make a difference. I may not be able to go back to school next week as the pain is probably not going to go. I am going to the hospital again in four weeks (at 36 weeks) and if there is no change I will be induced. And this means that I could be having a baby in four weeks time. Four weeks! Good job I did all the shopping early. I am a little in shock and feel slightly delerious (sp?). She is expected to weigh about 6lbs by then and not considered to be at risk in any way. Four weeks. Shit.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 24/08/2010 15:17

hi.. ~tentatively sticks her nose in~
I've finally gathered up the courage to say hello.
I'm pg with #2, got my bfp on DS's birthday, 1/8/10. No real ideas about dates, but had quick chat with midwife today at surgery reception and she said we'll just go by lmp dates for now, which makes me 6+6 today and gives me an edd of 13/4, although I'm a little doubtful about those.

Is it ok for me to join you guys?

SamanthaB123 · 24/08/2010 15:41

Welcome Ivy, are you ready to be added to 'the list'? I hope that you are feeling well, I think my morning sickness was just starting to kick in properly at 7 weeks. Lovely. Everyone is very friendly on this thread and we've all been there and worried about it, so someone will always know what you are going through. We are waiting for news from Meita at the top of the list who we suspect may be in labour or may have delivered her baby by now. I hope your stay will be long, happy and totally uneventful (well at least for the next 33 weeks) Smile, SB x

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 24/08/2010 16:59

thanks, samantha. I don't know about the list, I guess so, although I haven't had a scan yet, so I have no idea what's growing where. Things do feel ok for now.

exciting news about meita!

SamanthaB123 · 24/08/2010 17:19

Ivy Grin - I expect that there is a baby growing in your tummy! You don't have to have had a scan to be on the list. Look up a bit and you will find today's. You will be delighted to know that someone on it is due after you!

AlbaDeTamble · 24/08/2010 17:19

Hi Ivy, glad the link worked, and welcome!

Am feeling so much better today have been doing lots of MNing... has no-one else been following t'other thread excitedly?? things are looking rather hopeful for a couple of our old buddies... Go check if anyone wants to get the pom poms tentatively ready (and maybe send over some of those tests with streamers, bells and whistles Gilda?)... Oh I do so hope it's going to be very well deserved good news....
Then hoping we need to rush back here with the pom poms for Meita... Hope she's cuddling babyMeita by now... And only 4 weeks for Sam, also very exciting! If it helps I just read a very positive birth story from a friend who just had her second baby in our least favourite hospital. It can all be good there... Sorry they think the pain is with you for a while though, that's not good at all.

Unbuffy · 24/08/2010 17:35

Hi Ivy, welcome to the madness, paranoia and panic that is pregnancy after mc! I suppose you would be

IvySedai - Baby#2, 6+6 weeks, EDD 13th April

(Is this right?)

Hope you're feeling a bit better SamB - At least the Docs weren't shi*ty and you have some reassurance that they are going to do something about it... in 4 WEEKS' TIME, lady! That puts you right up at the tippy top of the list, nearly, and I'm next down after you... Can I start to panic on both of our behalfs please?!? Shock

Alba the community wotsit is coming here! Must tidy - looks like a bombsite here Confused(almost literally- my dad, brother and dh knocked out the fireplace in the living room on Saturday and there is a large Hole in the wall) . Hopefully dh will be able to drag himself out of bed (he's on nights) for the meeting, but i'm not holding out too much hope - he's one of those wot sticks his head in the sand if there's something he's nervous about and hopes it goes away. So tbh I'm not sure how much help he's going to be - have sat him down and Talked To Him but y'know. Men. Another source of stress there then...
As for the wee thing, I'm still convinced I smell...!
