Oh God, sorry for all the typos I'm sure you all knew what I meant...

SamanthaB123 · 31/07/2010 12:48

What has happened to our list?! It is very long and needs streamlining but don't want to upset or offend anyone. This is the whole updated list (I really hope that I haven't messed it up). I am going to make a shorter version of those that are currently posting and then anyone I miss off can add themselves back in. Is that ok?

Afternoon ladies, I hope you are all have a relaxing weekend and all bumps are doing ok

I had my first scan yesterday to check all was progressing ok and I am please to say that "they" are doing just fine O M G !

Gi1da · 31/07/2010 16:00

OMG Magic8 indeed! Double congratulations!!!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 31/07/2010 16:09

Thanks Gi1da , I am so over the moon but completely terrified in some ways as this is massively high risk given my history and because they are identical! I still can't quite believe it, one minute I am giggling my head off and the next I have my head in my hands thinking O M G!!!

AlbaDeTamble · 31/07/2010 16:15

Wow Magic! Congrats!!

zayja · 31/07/2010 16:32

Hi Ladies,
Know I'm not around lots - but not off the list just yet - and not offended either

Congrats magic8 what excellent news, exciting and I believe twice the fun!

Alba, congrats on your boy! Let the real planning and dreaming begin!

meita, can't believe you're to term already, but it probably hasn't seemed as fast to you as it has to me. Here's hoping you get a bit of solid rest before baby arrives. Saw a thread yesterday talking about top recommended activities for first time moms-to-be before the baby comes and everyone said SLEEP. If you can I guess, eh?

toomuchteaching - isn't it wonderful to feel those first bubbles?! As I recall I felt a little something at about week 16, but since this is my first, was a bit unsure. Really started feeling little kicks and punches "for sure" at about 19w and now try to lay still each day when I get a bit worried for those reassuring little movements!

I have my 21 w anatomy/gender scan on Tues. so very excited although also nervous. Was wondering if you all would mind taking a look at my recent 20w 5d belly photos (click on my name). I've got a bump, but it's a small one and I've always had a bit of a belly. Googling 20 and 21w pregnant comes up with ladies that are absolutely, positively showing! I hear it's pretty normal with your first to show late, but anyone else this size halfway through? Wish me luck!

Magic - Wow! That's fantastic news . I am very jealous but delighted for you, I always wanted twins myself but am now a little concerned that one day in the future baby #4 will turn out to be #4 & #5! You will be fine, take good care of yourself and keep smiling. You have been truly blessed SB x

Sorry Zayja - I knew I wouldn't get it entirely right but thought it was worth a go.

SamanthaB123 · 31/07/2010 18:03

Sorry! Are there any people on the list that we haven't heard from for a while? I seem to have made a bit of a mess of it

AlbaDeTamble · 31/07/2010 18:09

Put you back on Malteser, with lucky's dates, I seem to recall you'reboth due the same day, correct me if wrong...

Zayja, I had a bump like yours with DS... Bigger much quicker this time around... You lucky thing! Though chances are you'll find you suddenly 'pop' and get much bigger in the next few weeks. Best of luck with your scan, are you finding out gender too? I really like calling baby he rather than it... He seems much more real, though I know others far prefer the surprise at the end of labour.

Clareanna, best of luck for Monday.

Ladybee and Moofold, I do hope you're being looked after and getting all the help you need. Thinking of you both.

Jollster, I know you're out there, big squeeze, not long till 12 weeks now?

Lia, hope the nerves aren't completely debilitating. Felt like i'd never get to 12 weeks, but time seems to fly now I'm beyond there... Hang in there, it's all going to be just fine

HappyGirl1 · 31/07/2010 19:50

Moofold so sorry to hear your news, that's just devastating. I really hope the MC clinic can help you so that you can get back here really soon on this thread.. thinking of you lots

Magic8 what wonderful news. You are truly blessed that's fantastic news about your identical twins - wow!

No news here with me, just shattered. Getting a bit concerned I'm stil just feeling bubbles although they are much much bigger but definitely not kicks / punches yet. Hopefully baby will get stronger soon.

have a nice evening everyone xx

Unbuffy · 31/07/2010 20:59

Hi there ladies

Well you've all been busy while we've been gone! So very sorry for moof's news, that's so unfair and I do hope we see you again soon. Best wishes x

Great news Alba on the other hand, I've always wanted a gang of boys - don't know if it will ever happen but I'm very jalous! Also Magic - all the answers indeedy! Fingers and toes very crossed for you.

Zayja am very envious of your lack of bumpage - I swear I look like a balloon and 9 months gone already, me balance has gone and everyfing. grrr.

Hope everyone else is well, not too much namecheckin as there's been so much going on here - hallo everybody!

As for us, we've had an exhausting but good 'break', lots of beach and surfing (bodysurfing for me, 'tis hard jumping onto a board wiv a bloody great lump strapped to yer front) but no time for sunbathing or anything peaceful. Probably a good thing as my mmc due date was at some point in the past week (I have deliberately forgotten the exact date to try to make life easier). But we scattered fil's ashes on the moors today and I had a little cry for the baby too when no one was looking - just for me.
In other news, I'm being constantly kicked now (except when I have panicked worried moments, naturally, when the dam' thing seems to go to sleep on me and I can't feel a thing)

liahgen66 · 31/07/2010 21:12

OMG Magic, that's great news. Wishing you a very very boring 7 and half months.

buffy good to hear from you, sounds like you've had lovely time. about FIL but I'm sure he's knows whats going on somewhere. x

SO I did a sainsbury's test just now and the line came up before it had even run all the way across, and so so dark, never had one that dark before . plus nausea has kicked in today, gone right off food, just don't know what to eat or drink, just don't fancy anything. It's great

I did the test as my first one was so so plae, and 2nd was a digi, so although I took photo, I had nothing "to keep" saddo that I am.

Feel so much happier, albeit ergh today.

louisesh · 01/08/2010 10:28

Congrats LIA

MAGIC wonderful news

HAPPYGIRL please don t worry about lack of kicks etc.....I m 31 weeks still feeling lots of bubbles/flutters but don t think i ve felt any kicks when i mentioned it to my obs consultant she said not too worry as long as i continue to feel the flutters not to worry. Also a lot of it can depend upon the position of the baby it was suggested our baby is lying facing inwards and when shes kicks i m not necessarily going to feel it.When i listen on my doppler i can hear her moving arond soo not worrying anymore .

Hi to all hope everyone is well.X

Redheadgal · 01/08/2010 10:56

Hi all,

Been packing up the house and off on holiday so lots of news to catch up on.

Moof - so so sorry to hear your news. I had an ERPC and like many others on here found it really helped me. I hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as it can. Look after yourself. x

Magic - wow and double wow! Congratulations on the pregnancy and wow again with the identical twins!

Congratulations to Lia too!

'Fraid more name checking will have to wait. We got back from France at 3am and we're moving house tomorrow. Thankfully we did most of the packing before we left, but still have the cleaning to do. Will catch up properly in a few days. Enjoy the rest of the weekend all!

BUnderTheBonnet · 01/08/2010 11:09

Good Lord Magic! Congratulations!

Meita · 01/08/2010 11:34

Good morning

Magic wow, how exciting! Wishing you all the best for your two-in-one package.
Reminds me of Apples - wonder how she's doing? She was in and out of here, and was due sometime end of July. She was also expecting twins, but lost one of them in the first trimester. Don't mean to scare you, hope you don't mind. I hope she will drop by some time to let us know how she got on!

Zayja I totally know what you mean - I also marvel sometimes at how far everyone already is. Like, you, having your 21w-scan... it seems like only days since you had your BFP! My own time seems to be moving very slowly though, particularly since I've hit the third trimester. The first and third trimester are objectively the shortest, but subjectively much longer than the long second trimester, methinks.
BTW there's a girl at my research centre who is due at the same time as you are, and even knowing she's pregnant, it's impossible to see anything bump-wise. Myself, I was definitely showing at that stage, but still able to pull it all in.

Louise waves how are you doing?
Boodle Mat leave starting soon?

My last MW appointment (was Thursday) was a bit weird. It was with the same MW I saw at my upsetting 16w-appointment. She did take a bit more time and care this time, but it still felt as if she were trying to fob me off... for instance, I had written a birth plan and stuck it in front of my notes. Towards the end of the appointment she said "I see you have written a birth plan, you should discuss it with your MW at the next appointment." To which DP pointed out that the next appointment would be my 40w-appointment and it might actually be too late by then... After which she grudgingly agreed to have a quick look at it. Luckily I've stopped expecting much from my antenatal visits, or I might have been quite upset again.
Strangely I seem to be measuring big. Until now I was always below average, and now suddenly I'm waaay above - even above the 90% line. I'm assuming this is mostly down to different MWs measuring differently.

MW thinks baby is lying OP (back to back). She said I should expect long and painful labour Anyone know if there is anything I can do to encourage baby to change position?

I also seem to be developing some SPD. MW said as it was so late in pregnancy there was no point in sending me to physiotherapy. If it gets worse, I'll insist.

Ah, the joys of late pregnancy. At least I know it's all temporary and an end (and baby!) is in sight!

Best wishes all round! Enjoy your Sunday!

Meita My second baby was back to back and it really wasn't that bad at all. I know that it can be more uncomfortable so you should be prepared, but I don't think you need a midwife scaring you. My waters were broken at 4cm and dd2 was born 20 minutes later. Admittedly those 20 minutes were horrid but short lived which was a blessing. It really helped for my birth partner to apply pressure to my lower back, this seemed to relieve the pain somewhat. I also was much more comfortable leaning forwards, I couldn't bear to be on my back or sitting. I don't know much about encouraging baby to change positions - are birthing balls any good for this? I know that they are good for positioning but not sure about this kind of positioning! I believe that sleeping with a pillow between the legs can really help alieviate SPD pain in the night. I have had some syptoms and a loose diagnosis but to be honest it seems to have settled recently. Hope this helps, it's lovely to hear from you, SB x

Meita, boo to your unhelpful midwife, re the SPD, good resource here www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk/, says never too late for treatment. Thankfully mine has got much better, but still a lot of painful twinges after a busy day. I'm just making sure to rest as much as possible for now, but if you're in lots of pain maybe call your nicer midwife or see your GP for a referral? It can be agony and can be helped...

DS was back to back. Ouch! Try bouncing on a birth ball, spend lots of time on hands and knees (I found that pretty exhausting at 9.5 months pg!! Was induced 2wks over...) and sleep on your left side... Helps the back fall down to the left where it needs to be for delivery. In labour, MW pressed really hard on my lower back, which helped a lot, as did staying in any position except on my back (try to read up on active birth, it's extremely helpful). And get your OH clued up to to fight for you. If DH hadn't insisted otherwise, the midwives would have had me pushing DS out on my back..... As it was I had a relatively easy delivery, so don't believe the midwife's horror stories and good luck!

Lia, so pleased to hear you're feeling sick!! In the nicest possible way...

red, good luck with the move. Am exhausted thinking about it... Do you have a late august holiday planned to recover??

As for me, end of my second week on holiday, DS has done brilliantly with potty training, he's soldiered on with it despite chickenpox spots appearing on tuesday, poor little chap, I had no idea what was wrong as he's had chickenpox before so I figured it must be something else, but Dr confirmed it was indeed a (rare) second bout of it. Thank goodness I've had it and no chance I'm not immune as I've been exposed to it a few times before. On the plus side, he's been far cuddlier than usual which I've been making the most of!
Back to work tomorrow.... May get a bit quieter again...

Waves to all

Meita - go to your GP and request a referral for physio or an osteopath. If that doesn't work, book yourself in with a good chiropractor. It costs about £40 a session but you may find htat one session will give you enough relief for the next few weeks.

I had very bad SPD with DD and went into the chiropractor's office on crutches and came out carrying them. I did need them again but it gave me amazing relief for a while.

Adding myself back on too, also not offended.

Great news Magic how exciting!

Been reading everyone's updates but no pen and paper to name check as still getting organised post move.

I'm very tired at the moment and seem to need a day nap around 3pm, DS2 has been very patient. DH has taken him over to DFIL and DSMIL to let me do the shopping on line and the ironing, though I'm here
