What do people call their bumps? Just heard from a friend that they called theirs snowdrop. Often hear of peanut, pumpkin etc but wondered if there were others?

My sis called hers 'shimmy' - a cross between 'she' and 'him' cos they didn't know if it was a boy or girl

beanlet · 27/06/2010 22:38

Baby bean

Mermaidspam · 27/06/2010 23:19

DD was Boo.

(We had just seen Monsters Inc. and I wanted a Boo of my own!)

JosephineClaire · 27/06/2010 23:43

Our 20 week bump is called Zippy - not sure how we decided on that...it just came out one day and stuck! Zippy, Zip, Zipster - as long as the baby doesn't actually resemble Zippy from Rainbow, it's OK

ttalloo · 27/06/2010 23:57

We called DS1 bambino, shortened to bino. It took ages for me to get used to calling him by the name on his birth certificate!

DS2 just got called No.2. I feel quite guilty about that!

Falsley · 28/06/2010 12:27

We call ours Stinker as I terrible wind during the first 10 weeks and it just stuck.

Kind of hoping we have a boy 'cos I think a girl will be embarressed of such a name when she is older

Smithy1979 · 28/06/2010 12:55

Mine is Pip as well for the same reasons as Abi and Pipinmybelly. It was described as the size of a Pip when we first found out so it kind of stuck!

lellow · 28/06/2010 14:39

ours is bertie!

knackered76 · 28/06/2010 14:41

All have been Bob, courtesy of Blackadder. Didn't know which flavour so figured Bob covered them both!

Jacksmybaby · 28/06/2010 14:49

"Bob? Funny name for a girl, isn't it?"

Floopy21 · 28/06/2010 15:02

Limey - it was as big as a lime when we had our 12 weeks scan & it stuck. Dh also likes it because he likes to think Limey was conceived in USA & it's an American saying for an Englishman (he wasn't - about 2 weeks before)

Mine was called Willbean cos when I told my sisters it was very early and they referred to baby as a bean, I told them it was too small yet but 'it will be a bean' and Willbean stuck. So you can tell I joined MN when I was pregnant One of the sisters added the chariot bit.

Funny, I forgot his bump name overnight when he was born, never used it again.

DastardlyandSmugly · 28/06/2010 16:11

DS was called Albie. DH (a huge Everton fan) wanted to call him Little Blue which I shortened to LB and it became Albie. We very nearly named him it when he came out too as we were so used to the name.

I can't remember what DD was now as once we found out she was a girl we called her the name she now has.

Jacksmybaby · 28/06/2010 16:25

Albie is cute!!

DastardlyandSmugly · 28/06/2010 16:32

Thanks. We love the name we ended up giving him but it took a while to stop calling him Albie.

notso · 28/06/2010 16:49

We've never had any names apart from the baby DH wouldn't/won't allow it, however secretly this one (third bump) is Meggles.

bloomingbex · 29/06/2010 17:31

My DP's Dad nicknamed by bump Wilf and it has stuck.

We don't know if we are having a boy or a girl so now my Mum is very worried I'll have a baby girl who'll have an identity crisis after being called Wilf for 9 months

Unbuffy · 29/06/2010 18:42

This one is unimaginatively beaniebaby or trouble. The last was Sprig - as in Sprig of the Bump or Little Jim Spriggs from The Goon Show (Don't ask)... But turned out to be a girl (so is not now called Jim)

Unbuffy · 29/06/2010 18:43

Oh, and we also had one that didn't make it, called Pudding 'cos it looked like I'd eaten a lot!

Lauz87 · 07/11/2010 21:02

My bump has been called Splodge since the pregnancy test, she'due in 2 weeks, and i'm worried i won't be able to call her anything else!

Pootle78 · 07/11/2010 21:07

Lauz I was called Splodge until I was about 11 as for the first year of my life I projectile vomitted everywhere, including the doctor on a number of times (according to my mum!)

We have Wiggle because hasn't really worked out the kicking thing yet, and really hasn't worked out that there is space above my belly button!

TooImmature2BMum · 07/11/2010 21:19

Mum says my twin and I were called Nose, and keeps asking what mine is called. I haven't got a name for it yet, and I think that's why (am 23+3). I thought one would develop naturally, but it hasn't. Maybe it is easier if you don't know the sex (or that it is secretly twins - in 1983 they didn't do scans much).

marriednotdead · 07/11/2010 21:46

Another Boris, exp really wanted that name for reasons I never understood. Even mentioned it at the register office, got a very arched brow from the registrar. DS's first teddy was duly named Boris.

Following major heartburn, bump evolved into the Rennie monster.

Roxy33 · 07/11/2010 21:48

My sister's bump was called Tractor as she let her son name the bump and somehow it stuck......until birth that is.
