What do people call their bumps? Just heard from a friend that they called theirs snowdrop. Often hear of peanut, pumpkin etc but wondered if there were others?

I wanted to have a bump name for DD, but never came up with anything that stuck... I asked #2 what I should call him/her & "Tulip" came into my head instantly, so that's what I call him/her (DH thinks having a name for the bump is ridiculous)

NeedToSleepZZZ · 07/11/2010 23:36

We called this one peanut, pretty ordinary, until my best friend's son (4) saw the 9 week scan picture and called him pebble which was much more descriptive at that time and nicer to say Smile

Now call him by his name so we're used to it.

DD1 was my 'little parasite' due to morning sickness. This one is just bump as the morning sickness wasn't half so bad. Although I think he/she will be 'sack of cats' as they are just as wriggly as their big sister.

My bump is called Lentil because when I just found out I was pg I emailed hubby saying 'our baby is the size of a lentil, it's heart is beating 150 times a minute etc'. It freaked him out because suddenly it became real to him. And he has called it Lentil ever since. It's now more the size of a peanut, but I think it will be Lentil for the duration now :)

Ralph. I still call her Ralph even though we know she's a girl - Ralphette didn't have quite the same ring to it...

piprabbit · 08/11/2010 12:05

When DH and I were very young, we watched Northern Exposure, and Shelly had a bump/baby she called 'The Pooper'.

Many years later, my bump was called Pooper, and the baby also... in fact Pooper is still a term of affection for my DCs.

piprabbit · 08/11/2010 12:06

In fact we have plural Poopers - as in DH returns from work and asks "How have the Poopers been today?".

greentig3r · 09/11/2010 15:07

Boober, groober, grobags, bump.

We know what she will be called but don't want to use it till she's born (although it's really annoying me that a people have referred to her by it already. All we told them was that it was the only one we agreed on so far).

smaych · 09/11/2010 15:30

We have a few names - Pubert (husband likes to tease me with awful name suggestions), The Hybrid (because it's a hybrid of me and husband), but most often just Babby.

BroodyRhi · 09/11/2010 16:58

I was called Rodney while a bump! My dad loved Only Fools and Horses. I do not/have never had an identity crisis over this name!

LabMonkey · 09/11/2010 17:06

Ziggy as it started out as Ziggy the Zygote. We keep saying He although at only 14.5 weeks we don't know the sex and probably won't even be finding out at 20 weeks.

LLKH · 09/11/2010 17:58

So far, my bump is Small One or Wriggleworm.

Small One is seeming less accurate these days(34 weeks) though.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/11/2010 18:13

I called this one "the triplets" until the first scan, largely to bring DH out in a cold sweat Grin. Otherwise, generally "sproglet" although this one is occasionally Tertius (less often since discovering she's a girl).

Samraves · 09/11/2010 18:19

Lol, another 'bean' here - until we found out she was a girl and now we have been calling her Emily - which unless she really looks nothing like an Emily will be her name when she is born

elk4baby · 09/11/2010 18:19

We had a few over the months, from 'pea', to 'belly-inhabitant' to 'dancing alien' Grin... it changes all the time, no one nickname stuck so far

juliec26 · 09/11/2010 18:59

Call mine BB for baby bump.. now my 4 year old dd wants to actually call the baby BB!

MrsMogwai · 09/11/2010 21:39

Techically, our bump is called Akabusi Awooga Agbonlahor H..... or Aaah for short (though our friends call it Awooga mostly). Even though we've used that name for years for our future first child, now that I'm pregant, it doesn't work for me at all! Nothing seems to work for me as a bump name.

Southsearocks · 09/11/2010 22:08

Phineas the foetus. We like it so much we're considering keeping it (if we have a boy)!

Stangirl · 11/11/2010 11:20

Wolfie. Till we found out it was a girl then we changed it to Foxy.

Pinetreeland · 11/11/2010 16:53

Tiny bug.

BikeRunSki · 11/11/2010 17:03

Mini Cooper.

claire87 · 11/11/2010 17:10

my little girl called my but the seahorse lol god only knows why

kikibo · 11/11/2010 17:40

Our friends used to call theirs 'Wibble'. I suppose because he moved so much.

They called it something else, though... Grin

Rebuslover · 11/11/2010 19:13

My dh's term of endearment for me is lumpy (I call him stinky to be fair), so we call ours blumpy (bump + lumpy). Seemed appropriate but really is pretty daft.
