Nesting like a possessed thing at the moment - and this morning I even removed the glass shades from the living room ceiling lights and put them through the dishwasher.........

Please tell me that you've gone as far as me with your nesting, I've already scrubbed everything in the kitchen this weekend and have a huge list of stuff to do through the rest of the house .

Even the poor cat has started doing a runner every time I walk into a room incase I start washing him!!

Stop giving me ideas

Late last night I decided the curtains needed washing but something told me DH nor the kids wanted them doing at 11pm. So this morning I let DH take them to nursery (the kids not the curtains!) under the guise of needing to work at home...then as soon as he was gone secretly took them all down and washed them.

The satisfaction it gave me was immense.

I need help.

I cleaned my tablecloth with a toothbrush at 7am one morning last week. To be fair, it is one of those heat-proof ones with a grooved pattern so needed something to get right into the grooves but even I knew I was bonkers doing it!

I have 2 weeks and 2 days to go til due date and cannot stop cleaning everything in sight

msjayjay · 07/06/2010 22:00

My nesting just isn't happening so if anyones upto it I have an oven that really needs doing.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 07/06/2010 22:02

loft extension

ilikeyoursleeves · 07/06/2010 22:03

hoovered the ceiling

Montifer · 07/06/2010 22:17

I'm not known for my dedication to housework but spent nearly an hour vigorously scrubbing garden table and (8) chairs.

Went into labour 2 weeks early that night

BuckBuckMcFate · 07/06/2010 22:24

2nd pregnancy: Put up a dividing wall, laid new flooring and decorated new rooms.

3rd pregnancy: Space saving staircase into loft, decorated 3 bedrooms.

I'm pg with no 4, am scared what bit of the house will need to be renovated. But I do keep thinking that it doesn't matter that I can't be arsed cleaning at the moment as I know in a few months time it will be gleaming, I have always loved scrubbing the kitchen floor when heavily pregnant

disarano · 07/06/2010 22:25

All doors of upstairs, redecorating bathroom 10 days early and midwife came and wanted to use the loo - I was mortified as no door on it!!

fakeblondie · 07/06/2010 22:27

I felt utterly silly when my husband came home to find umm- ironing baby books ! ooops.Well they were cloth ones and i had washed them all-again !

Irishfairy · 07/06/2010 23:19

I actually did wash my cat!

But to be fair, it was very hot weather, he looked like he had rolled in oil and he is a breed of cat called Maine Coon which are known to like water so he didn't seem too bothered.

parkj83 · 08/06/2010 11:04

I'm not nesting around the house, but I'm becoming increasingly obsessive about my car

I keep flitting between...

  1. a diesel
  2. an estate
  3. a newer car
  4. a small hatchback
  5. a family car (like a scenic)
  6. not doing anything at all... I love my car!

DH is going spare, and we actually had a massive spat about it all over the weekend, and I was in hysterics cos I couldn't put my finger on what I wanted

colditz · 08/06/2010 11:09

bleached the tops of the doors .... daily.

I'm not going to tell you not to do a list, I will say you must prioritise it and limit your silliness to 3 things a day or you will end up running around like a twat, screeching every time your husband gets a towel out of your neatly ironed, folded and colour co-ordinated 'towel cupboard'

WickedWitchSouthWest · 08/06/2010 11:23

I've washed the radiators, the front of the fridge, hoovered the ceilings. Need to wash the doorframes too Alot of my nesting gets aimed at the garden though, so that looks stunning at the moment! I'm off out to the "big" shops later for some bits and bobs, despite the fact all the cupboards are full now and things are creeping onto the dining table Put it this way, nuclear war could break out right now and we'd have enough food to last us a good few weeks!!

I'm 37+1 btw and just been told off by the mw for doing too much, I need to slow down a bit but I just can't.

JamieJay · 08/06/2010 12:18

Love some of things people have got up to - think I need to start being a bit more inventive

Irishfairy - gets stop giggling at the thought of you washing your cat!

colditz - have had to stop myself from giving DH a running commentary of 'put your shoes away, fold that towel' etc. - thankfully he's finding quite funny at the moment but don't think will last. Like the idea of 3 things a day though - will try that.

Wickedwitch - take it easy, need to make the most of the sleep you can get before baby arrives

I do nesting by proxy, so far ths time have made dh paint the living room and arranged for my parents to come round and help fit new blinds. Dh also has to sort the girls room, move beds, build another cot and chest of drawers before the baby arrives. Last time I had everyone here fitting a new bathroom and new wardrobes a couple of weeks before DD2 was born.

I however am very good at going to B&Q and buying things.

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 08/06/2010 12:39

Gosh I wish I'd been a housework nester. I was a oooker. Invented a white chocolate and cherry cheesecake and some sticky ginger muffins but the ceiling never got hoovered.

comewhinewithme · 08/06/2010 12:40

Made my hands bleed from using Cif on everything one day I cleaned radiators and window frames.

Got up and baked an apple pies and loads of mince pies (in July).

Daftest thing I did though was when I became obsessed with ironing. I would iron anything (I ironed some money once so it would look neat in my purse) One day my new neighbours hung some washing out and halfway through the day it began to rain and I climbed over the fence in the rain at 8 months pg fetched in their washing and handed it back to them lovingly ironed they looked a bit like this .

comtessa · 08/06/2010 13:44

Okay, I'm at work and trying not to burst out laughing in the very quiet and open-plan office. Have just emailed this link to my husband to let him know what awaits him...

xxx

bluecardi · 08/06/2010 13:49

Got everything ready for the next months - xmas pressies done in october, spare school uniforms in case I was in hospital over a weekend & dh wouldn't be able to wash & iron them(turned out very useful!!), birthday pressies all done, washing & ironing everything. Huge xmas shop for lots of mince pies (checking sell by date) Once on the phone to the school to get list for school trip a month before as I had to have it ready in advance!

mamatomany · 08/06/2010 13:54

39 weeks today and the cleaning thing just hasn't kicked in at all which is a shame because my god it needs doing.
Shopping I seem to be fine with though.

makeupmummy · 08/06/2010 13:56

Starched and ironed table cloth and napkins: VERY unusual behaviour for me

WickedWitchSouthWest · 09/06/2010 10:37

comewhinewithme oh please come and do some ironing for me! For some reason hoovering the ceilings feels perfectly logical and acceptable but ironing does NOT

comewhinewithme · 09/06/2010 11:52

WWW this happened 12 years ago I hate ironing now sorry .

HelenaCC · 09/06/2010 12:12

Loving that am not alone in my house-craziness. Am 29 weeks pg with number 1 - am putting in new kitchen, completely redoing my bedroom , baby's room (of course), landscaped front garden (back garden to follow), improving bathroom, desperate to redo my hallway (landing stairs etc) but its a huge job. I also realised how bad I have got when the other morning I closed the front door, and then made mental note to clean it...
