Hi all,
DD1 is coming up for 2 in June. Dh and I had an understanding that we both wanted more but we would wait until the end of the year (his job is taking him away for nearly 4 months in July)
I'm 3 days late (never happens) and did a test this morning which came back positive. I have all the signs I had last time (funny twinges if I twist to quickly, sore boobs, emotional etc)
so I knew something was up before I realised I was late.

I'm in total and utter shock. Just wasn't expecting this now. We're both pleased but just speechless.

anybody been through this and can just talk to me?

I was just going to post something very similar to you! I've name changed until I tell DH who is away.

We have 4 DS's. SH had snip 4 years ago and I realised I was late and took a test to stop me worrying and got a BFP. I'm sitting here in total shock!!!!

MoistvonLipwig · 16/05/2010 13:11

See I can't type in my shock!! DH not SH, DC not DS's.

Good grief.

Oh ML, I'm so glad I have someone to talk to!
My Dh has gone on a planned rugby trip and left early this morning - in shock.
DD upstairs napping and I'm sat here stewing!

I just have so many thoughts going through my head right now.
Dont get me wrong I'm happy but this is not what we had thought would happen this year at all!

Lady, your right! Folic acid!! I hadnt even thought of that!

MoistvonLipwig · 16/05/2010 13:20

I know the feeling

I don't know how DH will take this bit of news, especially after having the snip! He has heard all the stories of it failing though and has said if it happened to us it was meant to be.

I can't get my head around this at all.

TettyLouBar · 16/05/2010 13:24

Oh wow. That must be even more weird knowing that you have yet to tell DH! Having had the snip as well! I have heard of the body re-growing the tubes but not first hand from somebody - wow!
I'm a great believer in everything happening to a reason and its what I kept saying this morning to DH but it doesnt make it sink in any quicker does it!

I just feel very odd at the moment. I keep checking the test upstairs to make sure I read it write. Apparently EDD is 21st January, it all seems very bizarre.

4 DC's already!? what are their ages?

ML - my dh has had the snip and I have been in denial about it, telling myself nothing is 100%. Did your dh get the all clear after going for the semen tests?

TettyLouBar · 16/05/2010 13:30

I know it sounds ungreatful, I truly am not trying to be negative at all as one of my best friends is desperately trying to get preggers with her second and has had 2 miscarriages this year alone. But I just feel like its not really me this is happening to!

It seems like somebody's going to knock on the door in a minute and say SURPRISE! we tricked you!! ha ha!

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 16/05/2010 13:30

Not having a go but if you are not using contraception, why are you surprised when you get pregnant? This isn't to ML, clearly.

MoistvonLipwig · 16/05/2010 13:31

Teddy I am bricking it.

My DC's are 15, 10, 6 & 4.

DH had the snip as my last PG was hell on earth. The midwives are going to collapse when I stagger in to Maternity!

MoistvonLipwig · 16/05/2010 13:32

Fab - he got the all clear 3.5 years ago.

I feel sick!!

TettyLouBar · 16/05/2010 13:33

no way! you mind must be working overtime. Try and stay relaxed. I'm sure DH isn't going to be disappointed or anything. Are you worried about his reaction?

OP posts:
FabIsGoingToGetFit · 16/05/2010 13:34

Try not to worry...

My DH had his 2-3 years ago.

MoistvonLipwig · 16/05/2010 13:36

Teddy, not worried as such as he's a laid back kind of person and just deals with what life throws at him.

Just terrified in case this PG ends up like the last one. I can't go through that again, I was in hospital for the last month.

TettyLouBar · 16/05/2010 13:37

what was the main cause of your hospital stay?

The main cause? Well I had a placental abruption between 14 and 18 weeks which meant I bled a lot and without warning.

Once the bleeding stopped and the scan showed that the clot had gone I was told to take it easy. I got to 34 weeks and had a consultant appointment (I live in a rural area and my consultant is 200 miles away) and he examined me and asked how I was. I told him I was having a lot of BH and he then decided to admit me for 3 days of monitoring. As regular-ish CX were showing up on the monitor he was reluctant to release me.

The consultant was worried I'd go into labour at home and the bleeding could start again and I'd be too far away for them to get to me or me to them in time. Plus I have a history of shoulder dystocia and was book for a CS.

In the end it was easier for me to be in the hosp in case everything kicked off. I was scanned weekly and they dicovered my water level was low and thought DS was only about the 5lb mark. BUT there was no sign of a bleed.

At 39 weeks I was eventually sectioned and DS was born with breathing problems but weighing 8lbs rather than 5.

It was a long time away from home .

TettyLouBar · 16/05/2010 13:46

Fab - only just seen that message earlier about contraception - we were using condoms and to our knowledge and memory didn't have any mishaps!

MoistvonLipwig · 16/05/2010 13:47

Lady I have my moses basket and cot. I have a hard bodied pram but it needs relined.

Clothes and other small bits mostly went to charity shops.

What am I going to do?!

TettyLouBar · 16/05/2010 13:52

ML, you will manage. If the pregnancy is what you want (if you know what I mean, I don't want to insult you, the thought of getting rid of pregnancy is the furthest thing from my mind right now, but I thought I would not assume anything with yourself) then you'll just begin gathering the things you know you need and want, and before you know it you'll have a complete new-born kit again!
But thats obviously a way off yet - "baby steps" - 'scuse the pun!

OP posts:
TettyLouBar · 16/05/2010 13:55

Its sounds like you went through the mill with the last PG too. But that doesn't reflect at all on this PG! or so I am under the impression
Did they tell you otherwise?
