Me and dh are ttc baby no 3 and i seam to have missed this month

Silly me really asumming i would be lucky enough again. I know i was extremly lucky as i can take some woman months.

So do you think there is something wrong why i didnt fall pregnant first time this month?

That's 2 and half years not mins, or weeks sorry.

MumNWLondon · 12/05/2010 18:33

OP how old are you?

re: miscarriage, its very very normal esp if it was an early one, nothing to worry about.

I am a big believer that you can boost your chances by eating / drinking healthily, being fit and the right weight etc and as I am a control freak I found that focussing on improving diet etc etc helped me with TTC (ie I felt I was doing everything I could to help myself IYSWIM.

My sister conceived her DD a week after she stopped taking the pill was so worried when her DS took 3 months, but thats totally normal...

xkatyx · 12/05/2010 18:41

thank you for the advice

I'm 27, size 10 and really short lol 5ft so i think thats healthy?

im a very healthy person though love fruit and veg always walking everywhere, im a tad bit of a worrier so i know im over reacting here unfortunetly with the mc it is so common i just feel like its just me, i dont actually know anyone who has had one (thankful though) wouldnt wish it on anyone.

Also another question to anyone? seeing that BFN is heartbreaking any tips on how to keep strong i.e not end an emotional loon posting silly threads on mn?

xkatyx · 12/05/2010 18:44

Xkatyx, I'm wondering if your body just isn't ready yet, so I guess it'll happen in the next couple of months or so. Don't panic!

2 of my 3 DC's weren't planned, so I guess you could say we conceived 1st time with them.

Jacksmybaby · 12/05/2010 18:52

3 mths for DS.
13 mths for this pg, with one (early) MC after 6 mths of TTC.

In answer to your 2nd qu, IME the BFNs were the hardest the 1st couple of mths because we had built it up to be this big thing that we were TTC, but after that I found it almost became less of a big deal each mth and I wasn't expecting anything to happen, if it did it wld be a bonus, iysyim.

Good luck.

hmmSleep · 12/05/2010 18:52

I personally think the key, obviously if nothing is physically wrong, is to concentrate less on TTC and more on having a good, fun, relaxing time, easier said than done I know! Getting a bit tipsy seemed to help me!

LuluF · 12/05/2010 18:55

xkatyx - you mentioned you were a bit of a worrier - have you tried yoga or a complementary therapy - relaxing massage/reflexology? - I've not tried them myself - but some people believe they work wonders.

And I read something recently about b vitamins - does anyone have any advice about that?

cupofcoffee · 12/05/2010 19:02

dc1 first month
dc2 4 months
dc3 first month

Think I was lucky.

xkatyx · 12/05/2010 19:03

Oh i would love something like that, i might look at one close by.

I take pregnacare which has a few b vitamins in, i heard b vitamins are brilliant

xkatyx, this thread isn't remotely insensitive and imho, you are perfectly entitled to your own concerns.

DC1 -1st month (mmc)
DD1 - 1st month
DD2 - 1st month
DD3 - 1st month
DC4 - conceived whilst lactationally amennorhoeac, mc
DC5 - ttc, cycle 3

I have been very lucky. I know others aren't as fortunate.

Hulababy · 12/05/2010 19:09

DD - 15m, early mc then another 15m

been TTC for 5.5 years for #2; had 2 ops, lots of heavy duty hormone treatment and Clomid to no avail.

flintski · 12/05/2010 19:34

I'm another one who conceived easily for my first (3 mths) but has taken over 2 years to get pg with this one (19 wks at mo) - found out a month before 'investigations' were due to happen. When mentioned to sonographer at 12wk scan how long it took, she intimated that 2 years was fairly average too.

As far as tips about not getting down when you see a BFN evey month, I would seriously use up and not buy any more tests until your period is late. I did this after about a year and although I still got miserable the day AF arrived, it wasn't as heart breaking as testing early and then every day until AF arrived. Easier said than done, but forgetting about it as much as possible seems to work for some. Good luck!

nunnie · 12/05/2010 19:38

I never got used to the BFN's to be honest. In the end I stopped testing until I had missed a period, I found it much easier that way.

I am also healthy and a fitness freak. Just the luck of the draw, with #1 we went made appointment for tests and I fell pregnant before appointment. With number 2 I had blood tests, and all was normal, DH got is pot to well you know in, and before he did the deed I got a BFP, so not sure what caused our delay. But we got there in the end and that is all that matters to us. I won't lie and say it was easy, it certainly wasn't, it was heartbreaking waiting for it to happen and thinking it never would but that is history for us now. I do know I am lucky and don't take it for granted, I am aware there are alot of couples who aren't as lucky as us.

Just enjoy it and try not to think about it as trying

pinkgrapefruitjuice · 12/05/2010 19:50

DS1 - 1.5 years
currently pg with no.2 but it took nearly 2 yrs this time..

BabbittyBumble · 12/05/2010 19:51

1 month then 3 months, but mmc in the middle. The midwife suggested it was down to my body not being ready as it was only 6 months after first. My mum had exactly the same pattern - think it is quite common to have one in the middle and then go on to have another healthy pg. I know that that is no comfort when you're in the middle of it though

For me, losing my baby weight might have been what helped because with PCOS the extra weight can cause hormone problems which aren't so compatible with pregnancy. Hope it all goes well.

BabbittyBumble · 12/05/2010 19:54

Must point out on reading that that in no way do I mean that mcs can be blamed on having the extra weight (which doesn't apply to you anyway). It is one of those things that will usually not be helpful to attribute blame to as it can be caused by so many things.

EdgarAllenPoll · 12/05/2010 19:55

eccentrica

mum2oneloudbaby · 12/05/2010 20:04

1st 20 months
2nd 11 months but mc
3rd got pg 2nd cycle after mc so very quick for us and going well. Was very relieved that it happened quickly the 3rd time it's a stressful time.

I would agree with flintski try not to test it just stressed me out more was much better when i stopped.

mumtoblaire · 12/05/2010 20:52

Conceived both times 1st month of trying.

izzybiz · 12/05/2010 21:05

1st- accident, I was 16 and had not been quite careful enough!

2nd- about 7 months of not trying but not trying not to!

3rd- 3 months, had the implant removed in Sept and concieved in Dec.

Chrysanthamum · 12/05/2010 21:09

2 out of our 3 were conceived at unlikely times day 6 and day 5! Sadly we had a miscarriage at 11 weeks with another unplanned pregnancy. After this we started trying and although it took only 6 months I was getting v anxious that that was it for us and that we'd only ever have one child, so I can appreciate your slant on this. I think sometimes when you try ironically it can elude you.
I didn't take pregnancy tests until I'd missed 2 periods after mc as I felt I'd be unable to cope with the disappointment of confirming a pregnancy in case something went wrong.
Anyway good luck and enjoy it.

BibiThree · 12/05/2010 21:15

I got pg three times, all on first attempt. I put this down to a massive amount of luck and the fact that I am clearly at my horniest when I am ovulating.

Bf however, took 4 years of trying to cenceive her ds.

Pluto · 12/05/2010 21:16

1st DC 7 months

2nd DC 7 years. We had totally given up trying for about the last 4 of those years, so no.2 was a totally amazing surprise.
