Yep, mine was just a heavy blood streaked discharge, no jelly or anything.

Both times labour started within 24 hours - best of luck

OnlyWantsOne · 19/04/2010 08:48

I had my show and then contractions about an hour after, and my daughter was born 4 hours after that.... )

If you are going for a lay down or a snooze, i would lay on a towel, or wrap a towel up (into sausage shape) and out it between your thighs (might be more comfy any hoo) incase your waters go pop

suwoo · 19/04/2010 09:15

But it can still be a couple of weeks can't it, from a show.

We don't want her to get too excited

FWIW, mine was super gross and projected itself across the room after my first exam when I arrived at the hospital. DD was born 6 hours later.

preggarschick · 19/04/2010 09:44

I have been trying to phone my midwife at the clinic but there is no answer dont know whether to phone the hospital or not?

I really wouldn't bother unless you are feeling any period type pains or tightenings or just anything new.

sunshiney · 19/04/2010 10:50

hi OP

There's the mucous plug, then there's the show.

The plug coming out may happen towards the end of pregnancy but doesn't mean labour is about to begin. Just the mucous coming loose.

The show is a bit of bleeding (spotting). It means your cervix is softening and opening. A reliable indicator that labour is close.

If the mucous you had was a bit bloody, then it might well be a bit of both i guess so good luck! hope all goes well.

my last pg, the spotting began on Thursday morning and my dd was born on Friday evening. i never noticed any mucous myself.

its kinda like when you hav the end of period type dregs of little bits of blood through the discharge. the only way i can really describe it.

I've said it before on here but mine exactly resembled a creme caramel

suwoo · 19/04/2010 13:32

Mine also looked like that portblacks. It was so pleasant to see it sitting on the cubicle floor.

Mumcah · 19/04/2010 14:03

Mine was like a huge pile of snot.I couldn't believe how big it was.labour started a few days after.Good luck!

passionberry · 19/04/2010 14:17

Ooh Preggerschick, I came on here to ask exactly the same question! I am 40 + 4 as well - how spooky!

I have also had a little bit of blood in discharge this morning. I also am having a few mild period type pains and tightenings - how about you?. Hope this is the start of it for both of us!!

preggarschick · 19/04/2010 14:23

OP posts:
passionberry · 19/04/2010 15:02

I think I am 4/5ths - that was my last time with her this morning. And our labour clinic is closed on Sunday so my appointment is on Monday - but hopefully we won't need to keep the appointments!!
