Hi

I tested last Satyrday on a non-digital test and got my BFP after fertility treatment. I re-tested on Sunday evening with a Clearblue Digital and got 3+ on the diplay which would correctly have made me just over 5 weeks.

Last night my only symptom of sore boobs disappeared and because I had a missed miscarriage last year where the same thing happened I tested again on a Clearblue digital this morning and now it's reading 2-3 instead of 3+ which means the test thinks I am 4-5 weeks when actually I will be 6 weeks on Sunday.

Is this bad news

I have a scan in 2 weeks when I will be 7 +5 and am not keen on having onoe any earlier as I want to be sure about the heartbeat as last time I had to have an agonising wait for a second scan to confirm the miscarriage.

on their website they say

"If you are testing more than 6 weeks after conception the Conception Indicator may give unexpected results. This is because the level of hCG in the urine is too high to be provide an accurate estimate of the time since conception."

is it possible that my hCG is too high and so the test is confused?

Would relaly appreciate knowing if anyone has had this happen to them?

sorry Dueling - I am on my first ever pregnancy (though think I had a very early miscarriage last month) so am not sure but didnt want you to think no-one had read your post or didnt care.

I very much hope it is just as the website says - hopefully some people on here might have some experience to reassure you but otherwise I can only suggest talkingto your Dr?

will think of you x

With regard to symptoms, I had really bad MS at 6 weeks which disappeared at 7 weeks and I thought the worst. Went for a scan at 7 weeks for same reason as you - wanted to be sure iykwim. All fine, symptoms returned but not as badly at 9 weeks.

Clearblue - it may well be that its not working properly because you're 6 weeks. FWIW I do know someone who was still on 2-3 weeks at your stage and it never went to 3+ weeks, her baby was fine.

Think about it this way - in your position even if clearblue was saying 3+ weeks and you had all the symptoms, you'd still find something else to make you anxious about MMC - your tummy wouldn't be big enough or you would have ligament pain or something. Its easy for me to say because things turned out ok for me last time, but I know what its like when things haven't been ok. There is no way of knowing if your baby is ok til 7 weeks - but statistically it is much more likely than not that your baby is fine, and for the next week or so you have to live your life as if you think the baby is fine.

Sorry for mammoth post.

DuelingFanjo · 16/04/2010 08:42

thanks Owlingate.

I was wondering if I could call the IVF clinic and ask for blood tests ask would rather know. They haven't offered a blood test though so might just tell me to go away and come back when the dcan is due.

My symptoms have only been sore breasts so far.

I can't find anything at all on the internet about digital test results going backwards! It's such a pain.

Am also more worried than I might otherwise be because when I got the 3+ it was with evening urine. This morning it was mornning pee, though I had already been up at 4.30 am to use the loo .

just wanted to let you know I went to the hospital for a blood test and I will know the result after 3 today.

In teh meantime I have done another test and it's gone back up to 3+ so it's all a bit strange.

Here's hoping the blood test confirms all is ok.

sorry for panicking, I didn't know what to ask!

So glad you're getting blood tests done and the pg test has gone to 3+. Maybe you're different and evening urine is more concentrate than morning. Really hope all is going well for you.

DuelingFanjo · 16/04/2010 13:38

blood test came back as 6450! they expect at least 2000 (I am almost 6 weeks) so that sounds like good news. Really embarrassed for worrying so much and kicking myself for doing so.

I need to join a thread with other pregnant after miscarriage people I think!

Hey Duelling
I am so glad to hear this good outcome. I was gutted for you when I saw this thread. Everything sounds great, so fingers crossed it will all be straightfoward from here!

Are you on the December thread? I'm on the November.

BecauseImWorthIt · 16/04/2010 13:47

Phew!

I had a MMC after DS1 and it meant that all through my pregnancy with DS2 I was marking off every milestone, and it was very hard to relax and just enjoy being pregnant.

Good luck for the rest of it.

And so sorry, LL, to hear about your second

DuelingFanjo · 16/04/2010 13:47

I'll be on the December one when I get brave enough to add myself. Scan is on 29th so a couple of weeks and I will be there.

If your urine was very concentrated when you got the 3+, it may just have been that you had much more dilute wee when you re-tested.

IME, (I'm 11+2 weeks today), the boob pain comes and goes, less pain if I've eaten less salty food the day before, for example, and the sickness didn't appear until about 6 weeks.

I've been in your situation, with several m/c between 5 weeks and 11 weeks, so IKWYM about the disapearing symptoms, very worrying, but don't give up hope yet.

I hope you get good results from your test this afternoon.

LL - also so sorry to hear about your recent MC Hope you are ok, sounds like such a trite thing to say 'are you ok' - I know how crap it is.

thank you for your support.

Great news about the test! Whoops, I didn't see you'd posted the results while I was writing my post!

Best wishes for your pregnancy.

I had IVF.

We were gobsmacked that it worked first time but really pleased. I was on Clomid last year which resulted in the first pregnancy but alas wasn't to be. I was really lucky to get IVF and for it to work as my bood results were very bad and they thought I would be a poor responder. I found the treatment really easy thankfully.

mumatron · 16/04/2010 15:37

dueling glad your levels were fine.

i have just found out i am pg after 4 mc so know how you are feeling.

am i right in thinking you had your treatment through ivf wales?

might join you on pg after mc thread. and i am (hopefully) due dec too. although right at the end of dec, 30th ish.

DuelingFanjo · 16/04/2010 15:47

yes - it was IVF Wales. Are you there too? Definitely need someone to hold my hand through all this.

congratulations on your BFP.

OP posts:
mumatron · 16/04/2010 15:52

didnt have treatment but had my recurrent mc tests there, and dp's sperm test.

we were about to start ivf/icsi with londons womens in swansea but got my bfp instead

how did you find ivf wales? when i spoke to the sperm guy, peter he was telling me if i self funded i would need to wait 9 months

the wait was 2 weeks with lwc so they won hands down!

well, we can hold each others hands now.

my last 4 mc have ended befor 9 weeks, so at the moment thats the goal for me.

5 weeks and counting!

DuelingFanjo · 16/04/2010 16:16

Well, I wouldn't want to put them down as I wouldn't be pregnant without them and the whole IVF treatment has been wonderful but I didn't find them particularly friendly or helpful up to that point to be honest.

I only managed to get my IVF after putting in an appeal to the health board when I was told I was too old to have IVF on the NHS. Problem was that I could have appealed a lot earlier had IVF Wales told me I could I feel a bit like I wasted almost 18 months thinking I just couldn't have IVF until I saved enough to pay.

As a unit I have heard they are really good at what they do but sometimes it felt like I had to wait ages to see anyone and when I did it was all a bit business-like but I guess they see so many people...

I have heard good things about Swansea London womens clinic particularly from a friend who was messed about a bit by Cardiff.

Congratulations on the BFP and sorry to hear you have had so many miscarriages . When I am brave enough to go onto the Dec thread I'll be asking you to hold my hand
