ok. we have 10 days til c section for our twins. pretty sure we're gonna call the girl Cecily but still can't decide on the boy's name. I'm expecting some "neither!" answers but somewhere between those we need a decision from you cos we're getting nowhere and they could pop out any day now. Please help!

pronunciation wise - we're thinking the flat 'o' rather than the floor one.

I reckon with your help i have now convinced dh that Edmund Florian is the way to go. Neither of us keen on Fabien - sorry. Glad to hear Cecily is at least well liked

Edmund! That's my husbands name and has stood him in good stead.

coldtits · 27/03/2010 17:48

Neither. Give the kid a name that WON'T have the shit kicked out of him on a weekly basis.

But if it HAS to be either, please GOD not Florian.

EccentricaGallumbits · 27/03/2010 17:50

I like Florian.

I also like Edmumd and Ceicly is lovely.

NKffffffffee0f8010X1140828dc0e · 27/03/2010 21:14

I do worry about the "shit kicked out of him" factor a bit. but surely an Ed or Eddie will be alright even if a Floss or Flo won't be.

frakkinaround · 28/03/2010 09:03

Edmund won't get the shit kicked out of him, it's similar enough to Edward to be 'normal'.

bumbums · 28/03/2010 09:13

Edmund definately. Have you considered Sidney? Sounds very twinny Cecily and Sidney.

Bonsoir · 28/03/2010 09:16

Cecily and Edmund
Cecily and Florian

Both combinations are OTT poncetastic. You are trying way too hard. Less is more

carolondon · 28/03/2010 10:51

You aren't seriously suggesting that you nickname a boy Floss or Flo!!!

Megglevache · 28/03/2010 10:58

Oh lovely, like Fabien too.

Flo is cool for a boy and very street (Flo'rida)

nighbynight · 28/03/2010 11:16

Florian is currently very popular in Germany, as are Fabian, Anian, Sebastian.

EffiePerine · 28/03/2010 11:22

Edmund. Although I wd also offer Aubrey as my current favourite poncy name. Gwaaaan...

NKffffffffee0f8010X1140828dc0e · 28/03/2010 13:49

hmmm, i'm liking Sidney but not with Cecily. I know these choices are OTT but we honestly can't find any other names we agree on. Girl was gonna be Margot / Margo but we couldn't agree on spelling. I would have liked Margaret, Ada or Irene but dh said no. My fav choice for a boy is Stanley but there is a Stanley in dh's family who is a real arse so can't have that.

and No, i'm not suggesting we nickname the boy Flo or Floss (altho i reckon Flo could work with the right personality). I was saying that would be what would happen at school.

Sorry but both these names are AWFUL

your poor ds is going to be the laughting stock.

you should be locked up for child abuse.

NKffffffffee0f8010X1140828dc0e · 28/03/2010 14:02

"Locked up for child abuse" ! It's not as if we're calling the twins Benson and Hedges or Tallulah-Does-The-Hula-in-Hawaii

They are actual real names, not made up rubbish like Tiaranesha or something.

LittleDonkin · 28/03/2010 14:04

Doha I really dont think the OPs choice of names equals child abuse. I have heard much worse. How about Dorian for a boy instead of Florian?

Aubergines · 28/03/2010 14:14

Bede. Best boys name ever.

Tibault is cool too.

I know a very inspirational grown up Florian. He went to be Devon comp and never got the shit kicked out of him. He now lives in LA where no one bats an eyelid.

Aubergines · 28/03/2010 14:16

That should have read "my Devon comp"...

The more I think about it the more I love the idea of Cecily and Bede.

carolondon · 28/03/2010 15:10

I like Dorian as an alternative.

Doha · 28/03/2010 15:47

Think this thread must be a joke--haven't laughed so much in ages.

Thes names are a total piss take.

okay will leave thread now holding my sides from laughing so much

Thanks for brightening uo my day can't wait to share with DH

FranSanDisco · 28/03/2010 15:56

Prefer Edmund to Sissy and Flo combination.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 28/03/2010 16:03

I love Cecily. I wanted it.

I prefer something like Edward or Lucien.

PoppyC · 28/03/2010 16:04

Both are lovely! Remember Edmund from 5 children and it?

NKffffffffee0f8010X1140828dc0e · 29/03/2010 02:04

think i've run out of time. contractions every 3 mins so will just see what suits when we meet them i guess.

Cecily is fantastic. Like Edmund a lot too. Also Dorian is great; was my Granddad's name (although his wife thought it was poncetastic, and called him "Jimmy" )

Good luck, NK!

By the way, Margot is spelt Margot
