Are there any others out there expecting November babies?

Our first baby is due on 15 November (so I'm 6+1) and I'm the first of all my friends get married and get pregnant. Would love to compare notes/worries/milestones with some other girls due around the same time...

Love Jo x

Thank you all, just got back and all was fine with bump, he/she was moving round loads, and kicking too, not that I could feel it, but it was amazing! Unfortunately they did find the cause of my pain... Gallstones! Oh dear, something else to deal with.. At least all is ok with bump though! Phew...

WhitePeacock · 22/04/2010 23:25

Hello ladies!

My EDD is 25th November (9 weeks today, whoop!) and I've been completely sharing everyone's paranoia about every last twinge.

I too had the mystery one-sided pain and a bit of spotting last week, so I had a scan. The sonographer used the most wonderful phrasing ("Can you appreciate a flickering?") when pointing out the heartbeat. She may have had a condom-covered plastic wand stuck up my intimate regions but no words have ever made me want to dance so much!

Until that moment I was weirdly convinced that whatever I was incubating wasn't a baby at all - it might have been an empty sac or a plastic hamster-ball as far as my demented worried mind was concerned.

But now, extreme tiredness + incredibly sore mutant freakish expandaboobies + EATING THINGS + bionic nose + imperative urge to puke on the Tube - it all makes sense, I might just be pregnant after all

Brilliant to be able to share so many worries and the feeling of being mostly adrift from the medics in the first trimester. I hope everyone is very well, getting lots of rest and enjoying spring sunshine and baby excitement!

Minette75 · 23/04/2010 14:18

WhitePeacock, after spending too much time spent on the thread about the ban in Belgium your post made me laugh out loud. Brilliant!

I'm due on 24th btw, and according to GP's calculations thought I was 9+3 - weird....

ro4chat · 23/04/2010 16:02

WhitePeacock, thanks for sharing your story in such a hilarious way!

I particularly loved the "bionic nose" part, as that has been my worst symptom for about 6 weeks now (I'm 12+1, supposedly). The most subtle scent, good or bad, is enough to send me running for a bucket.

And I still have to wait for my scan on Monday to find out what sort of creature (if any) is making me suffer this much. It better be a really cute one!

I hope, like you, I can get the excitement back.

greenbeanie · 23/04/2010 16:47

Hi, I wondered if I could join your thread. I have been lurking for a while. I am 11+5 with dc3, due on 6th November. I have 2 sons, so a dd would be nice this time if I had the choice!

Currently I am signed off work for a month with bad sickness that is all day and night although it helps being able to rest now I am off work.

I have had a private scan at 9 weeks so that dh could come along and all was well, NHS scan on tuesday next week.

KiwiKat · 24/04/2010 12:50

WhitePeacock, I'm due 29th Nov, and the tube is paying havoc with my queasiness as well. Saw a women with a LU 'Baby on Board' button and have been toying with getting one - will you?

lou19 · 24/04/2010 13:07

Hi,I'm due on 10th November and also been lurking for a while :-) re Baby on Board badges, I don't really see the point of them, as everyone on the tube has their nose stuck deeply in their paper/book and studiously avoids eye contact for the duration of the journey precisely to avoid having to give up their seat/ having to intervene in a fight, etc..If I need to seat down I'd rather hover with my bump close to the offender (when I get one) and demand they give up their seat!I pity the fool who would challenge pregna-rage...

xx

KiwiKat · 24/04/2010 13:39

Lou, love the 'pregna-rage'. I am inspired to get in touch with my inner pregna-demon!

lou19 · 24/04/2010 14:35

I highly reccommend it. It scared the beejesus out of my husband last week when he left me waiting for food for 3 HOURS!(long story..)

JosephineClaire · 24/04/2010 15:31

hehehe, pregna-rage is a fabulous word!

OP posts:
WhitePeacock · 26/04/2010 16:56

lou19 - heh! Pregna-rage, heh. My husband too now lives in fear of letting the beast go hungry. I have adopted your word and will be over-using it for the next seven months. "pity the fool", heh!

Minette75, ro4chat, KiwiKat - thanks for the welcome! Agree Baby on Board badge of limited use - I think in extremis I will clearly enunciate "I'm very sorry, but I'm pregnant, and if you don't let me sit down I'll be sick on you".

JosephineClaire · 28/04/2010 22:01

WhitePeacock, that's hilarious! Am definitely going to try that on the tube tomorrow. Thank goodness I only work in London a few days a month, I don't think I could cope every day

In other news, my pay review at work was today delayed from April to August...so no chance of getting a raise without them knowing that I'm pregnant.

So, with that out of the way, I may as well tell them I'm pregnant tomorrow, before heading back to Anglesey this w/e (only work in the office 4 days a month, the rest is from home). Next time I'm in London they'll see if for themselves!

What are you all doing about telling the boss?

Finally saw my midwife yesterday - yipee! She was lovely but I'd read so much on MN and web generally that I did not really have many questions for her besides 'How can I tell peanut is hanging in there?'.

Also loaded me with all the Bounty bumpf though she was swift and straight about it: all freebies and advertising.

No attack of pregna-rage just yet but I have no doubt it will come!!

Could so easily be accused of milking this pregnancy thing. Hubs really is at beck and call. evil Perfect when I don't feel like putting on the marigolds to handle the cats' litter tray. Or need a glass of water v v late at night...

One thing that, again, amazes me is the fact that before we even know all is well, we get bombarded with appointments, bumpf, signing up to various classes, etc.

I've already signed up and paid for NCT antenatal classes for end of September as GP told me places get booked up v quickly.

Well, NCT sent me the form and gave me a week to confirm and pay up before they would release the space to someone else. All this before I could see the midwife who told me they offer antenatal classes for free!

Let's hope all's well after the scan in 2 weeks...

KiwiKat · 03/05/2010 17:42

Ooh, WhitePeacock, you're a feisty wee thing! Hope I bump into you on the tube and we can terrorise the commuters together!

Josephine, it would be churlish and illegal for your company to deny you a payrise because of your pregnancy. Are they generally quite a good company to work for?

Minette, I can recommend the NCT classes. I did them when I was pregant with ds 4 1/2 years ago, and met a great bunch of people that I'm still friends with now.

Lou, how are you doing?

WhitePeacock · 03/05/2010 21:50

JosephineClaire, I hope it went OK with your boss! Only good thing about being a poor uncertain freelance is not having to worry about naughty workplace reaction (lack of SMP rather less good, boo.) Here's wishing you a plumper paycheque in good time for baby outgoings!

Minette75 - I've been booking NCTs as well. Posting the moolah was a bit painful, but all the mums I've spoken to including mine say it's a good idea, and I like the thought of making local friends with babies - most of our pals haven't got round to sprogging yet so I need brains to pick! Great that you like your midwife - I like mine, too. She held my hand when I was a wuss about the needle

Oh, and I say totally milk the pregnancy thing without shame! I'm a lazy swine at the best of times and it's bliss to have a solid-gold excuse for sloth. Besides, if I can't have rare meat, blue cheese or booze, I can bloody well have a cup of ginger tea in bed while husband guzzles all of the above and probably has a sly fag out the back door (forgetting bionic nose can detect misdeeds at 50 paces). And kitty-litter = both health risk and puke-inducing = better left to the gentleman of the house.

KiwiKat That's jolly you're still friends with NCT chums so far on! Heh. Pregna-rage x 2 is surely more like pregna-rage squared. Cower, commuters, at the prospect of WombWrath! Although actually I talk big but am too busy swallowing bile and thinking beautiful thoughts to do more than glare weakly at the paper-rustling ones usurping MY seats with their great bottoms.

KiwiKat · 03/05/2010 23:15

Well, one thing I've found, and I'm not sure if this is particular to London or fairly general, is that you make a great group of friends with kids of similar age, then they start to move away to bigger houses, something-with-a-garden, back overseas to the family, and so on. Then the next wave of babies come along, and those that have resisted relocation are once again tempted by pastures new. So yes, I'm still friends with lots of NCT folk, although some of them are now email-only due to distance, and I can really recommend their coffee mornings as a way of getting to know many other mums in your community, but that's why I'm doing the course again - to replenish my mummy-buddy stock!

Loving 'Womb-Wrath'!

PixieCake · 04/05/2010 12:29

Hello everyone. Just wanted to say hi. I'm due around 21st Nov according to my dates, but haven't had the dating scan yet. Haven't old anyone yet (apart from DH and the cat!!). Would love to spill the beans (I expect some friends have guessed) but am waiting until scan result just to be sure.

PixieCake · 04/05/2010 12:31

Also, when do you all plan to tell work that you are preggars? Bit worried about how it will go down at mine. No idea if it's better to tell sooner or later, so please share any advice or experience!
Thanks x

KiwiKat · 04/05/2010 14:29

Hi Pixie, I told mine last week (at 9 weeks) purely so that my position within the company was secure. Are your bosses generally supportive of you?

daisystone · 04/05/2010 15:29

I was going to wait until my scan which is in two weeks - but everyone seems to gradually have been told!

How did that happen??

Sometimes it is easier to tell people - I was sick of making excuses for my behaviour/tiredness etc

I don't have the energy to pretend.

redbird79 · 05/05/2010 14:22

Hi all, I sooo wish I had come on here last week! Basically, I've had twinges a fair few times, but they got really bad down my right-hand side so I rang midwife unit who told me to see my GP who referred me to emergency gynae unit at our hospital- eek! I went from being mildly worried and a bit embarrassed for making a fuss to being terrified. Anyway, all seems fine and that panic was for nothing it seems. My GP was woried because it was down one side but not the other, but having read the posts on here it seems it's not that uncommon. Ah well, at least I had my first experience of undignified tests- something to get used to eh

EMS23 · 05/05/2010 15:00

Hello all, been away for a week so not been around much.

Very excited to say I have my dating scan booked in for Tuesday next week when i will be 11+6 - I literally cannot wait to see it and lay to rest all my fears that this is not a pregnancy at all and just a really long missed period!

I had a stressful time getting the scan sorted as I'd recently moved and there was some confusion between the midwife and the hospital and I hadn't been booked in and when i called yesterday they said I'd have to wait another 4 weeks but the lovely midwife worked her magic and got it all sorted for me. I was about to book a private scan otherwise as I can't physically wait much longer!

Glad to hear all was ok redbird79 and welcome

Hi there , I was looking around for a thread for people with due dates in Nov. This is my first pregnancy and I just had my dating scan last wk. It was an amazing experience! Our baby is due Nov 5th, so I'm just 14 wks today.I'm so excited and will be glad when the tiredness subsides (had day off today and still in my P.J's..DH coming home soon and not even a wash hung out!). Is it too early to start looking into baby products? so excited, I called into Mothercare yesterday to see the kind of things on sale.. a bit overwhelming really but I think now's the time to start researching stuff so that I don't make impulse decisions when I'm too big and uncomfortable to care!! Hope the morning sickness (and all day sickness) is starting to subside for everyone soon. Must get off this laptop now and pretend I've been busy lol... :0

lou19 · 07/05/2010 14:26

Hello everyone, sorry I've been a stranger for a while, had coursework to hand in for my MA so was dead to the world for a few days...had my scan last week which was great, I was amazed at how much of a real baby our baby looks! We could see his/her head, feet, hands...loved it. Also had first midwife appointment, I am with the community midwives team at St Thomas's- she was very nice and totally supportive of my decision to have a home birth, which was a relief.
Re: work, I have just started telling people this week, got found out anyway because I was starting to show...anyone else starting to get a bit of bump?mine comes and goes depending on what I've eaten :-) but it's definitely harder and higher than your average bloat belly..
Also been trying to work out my entitlement to maternity allowance, I have been working on and off since I started my MA in September 2008 so fingers crossed I'll get SOMETHING...at least I hope so, money's really tight..
Last but not least-anyone else confused by your dating scan? mine dated me at 12 weeks+2, which would actually mean I got pregnant BEFORE my last period?confused, but it would explain why I am starting to show a little (coming up to 14 weeks on Monday).

xx

Hello Girls,
I've only just moved over from the conception threads but am 14 weeks and due on Nov 5th.
Have finally shaken on the awful fatigue and nausea. Feeling more like myself again and have a bump.
Just told work last week who were supportive but am the first in my team, in spite of being the grand old age of 35.
Any other oldies here?
