Are there any others out there expecting November babies?

Our first baby is due on 15 November (so I'm 6+1) and I'm the first of all my friends get married and get pregnant. Would love to compare notes/worries/milestones with some other girls due around the same time...

Love Jo x

Sabie I think that is great advice about the positives - one of the best things I've read so far! Am also bothered about every little twinge as my best friend had a mc only a month ago. We are so nervous for our scan next week! Why does a week on holiday fly by yet a week working and waiting seems like forever...

It's so nice to share stories with others going through the same thing though - my mum is great but it was a bit of a llooonngg time since she was pregnant (and is hard because she wants to tell EVERYONE and we are trying to keep it quiet! - she is just a proud granny-to-be bless).

Just can't wait to get to the twelve week stage, fingers crossed so i can stop feeling anxious (which I'm sure is not good!).

Sabie · 01/04/2010 17:56

Hi planner26,

Hope you scan goes well next week.

Just wanted to pass on to everyone that there is a great thread with loads of support and advice in the ante-natal section:

Happy Easter

Ooh it's sp interesting to see how everyone's symptoms are different!

I am completely with everyone on the sore boobs - what a killer! And I am absolutely KNACKERED like I never have been before. I'm a teacher so have just had end-of-term madness but luckily I get 2 weeks off now so I can put my feet up

I haven't yet had any sickness as such, just the occasional NEED to eat something! Pineapple is going down particularly well this week

It seems that loads of people already have a date for their 12 week scan but I won't even get my appointment until I go for my booking appointment on April 19th. And I'm soooo impatient!
6+6 (due Nov 20th)

JosephineClaire · 01/04/2010 21:17

Don't worry ellesabe, my booking appointment isn't until 22 April and I'm already 7+3. Midwife keeps pushing it back due to holidays

Have ended up booking a private scan for 18th as I am ridiculously impatient

I've told husband that bubble baths and back rubs are the only cure for my sickness and it's working a treat

Have also been drinking non-alcoholic pear cider on Friday evenings to make it seem like I'm still allowed a special w/e treat...it's actually pretty yummy x

Hi all

6+3 and still waiting on the hospital to get back to me about my booking appt.

I've been concerned over the last couple of days as the 'symptons' seem to have subsided. Boobs still hurt but not as much, headache has practically gone (which is of course a blessing) and tummy ache is also almost gone. I just don't feel as pg as I did week 5!!

My mum keeps re-assuring me that we're quite good at troubleless baby making in the family! But I can't help being anxious.

Don't you all find that, MN apart of course, there is very little support in these very early stages?

lainey1981 · 02/04/2010 12:22

Hi All,

I too am expeciting a November baby - think am due around 21st (last period was feb 14). I am 28 and this is my first - and was a bit of a shock even though have been with my partner for ten years and have been broody for a while.
So far have had really sore breasts and quite a lot of cramping each day (in fact this cramping delayed me taking the test as kept thinking my period was due!!)
have also been so tired, can hardly stay awake in the evenings. have been a little queasy the last couple of days but nothing too bad so far
My boyfriend is very excited and we have told his parents, my sister and 2 of my close friends (we had to as we moved house last week and my bf was beng protective not letting me move heavy boxes etc)
haven't been to the doctors yet so still doesn't feel real, but i need to register with a new doctor first so can't get an appointment for about 2 weeks.
Does anyone know what to expect at the first doctors appointment?
so glad to have joined mumsnet and to find others who are due around the same time as me - can check that am not going mad by worrying about every little twinge i feel.
Feel like i want to tell everyone, but at the same time it's nice to have a little secret for a while

xx

kezzydee · 02/04/2010 13:05

hi all,
its great to see this thread is being used by so many people.
my first midwife appointment is on wednesday and im so excited as it feels like i've been waiting ages for it (its only been a 2 week wait lol) i've had a few more symptoms since i last wrote on here, for starters heartburn after everything that i eat, its a nightmare. also over the last few days i've been having a stabbing pain on my right side which im a bit concerned about. im aware that there's going to be all sorts of niggling pains but how do i know if its something that i need to go to the dr over. i dont want to come across as paranoid over every little pain?
im still tired all the time, it gets to 5pm and i've had it. not felt too sick the odd churn every now and then but nothing major, got my fingers crossed that it'll stay that way.
we still haven't told our parents yet but are thinking of telling them this weekend not sure though if we should coz i'm only 5 weeks and once we tell them EVERYONE will find out lol.

KiwiKat · 02/04/2010 15:17

Hello everyone, due 29th November with #2, DS is nearly 4, and can so relate to the achey boobs, tiredness and feeling faintly hungover all the time!

Minette75 · 06/04/2010 13:47

Hi everyone

Has this thread been abandoned in favour of another, or is it just that we were all away enjoying Easter?

JosephineClaire · 06/04/2010 13:53

I'm still keeping an eye on it, but sadly have nothing new to add apart from ongoing morning sickness and a midwife who keeps pushing back my appointments...

How are you doing Minette?x

OP posts:
Minette75 · 06/04/2010 14:03

I'm good, thank you.

Nausea kept me in bed all day yesterday and I have some mild cramping but I guess that's just par for the course.

Though I can't help but be totally paranoid until I actually get to see a midwife, and am considering calling the local EPU to get an early scan.

I self-referred for the maternity unit at our local hospital but have yet to hear from them about my booking appointment - could be another week...

It is total limbo in these early weeks, isn't it?

JosephineClaire · 06/04/2010 14:25

Definitely; I'm really distracted from my work, but don't really know what to do with myself...

So far, all I've really been able to do is write in a pregnancy journal, get my swine flu jab and book my place on the NCT classes.

Really looking forward to getting past 4 months, so I can start thinking about the nursery

OP posts:
Minette75 · 06/04/2010 14:58

Have signed up for the NCT classes as well. How odd to have to book a course in September before I've even seen a midwife!

GP did not mention swine flu jab at all: is it highly recommended?

Not even thought about the nursery... Still at the stage of wondering whether to tell anyone (bar our parents) before Week 12...

But I am lucky enough to not have to worry about work: I quit a v demanding job at Christmas to give myself time to think about a new career and what do you know? I get pg within 2 months!!

Hope you have a good afternoon and catch up later.

Jano78 · 06/04/2010 16:49

Hi - hope everyone had a good Easter

This is such a good thread - it's great to share emotions, symptoms and concerns with women in the same boat....

Can anyone tell me what is the norm in terms of ante-natal appointments and scans? I saw my doctor a couple of weeks ago and chose a hospital. He told me the hospital would write to me to confirm my first appointment/ scan.

Spoke to hospital today as I have not heard anything and they said my first appointment and scan will be at 12 weeks. Is this what everyone else has been told? Just seems a long time to wait...What is the "booking appointment" exactly? Some of you mention an earlier appointment with a mid-wife, but I have had no information about this....

FourEyesGood · 06/04/2010 20:14

Hi Jano!
I'm 7+ weeks with my second baby and had my booking appointment today, following a referral from my GP. It was a fairly long session with the midwife (she came to my house, which is standard in my area); she took details of my medical history and checked my wee, then gave me my Maternity Care Record (which I'll have to take to all appointments) and some leaflets abouts scans, etc.

There's a useful list in the back of the record about what to expect in terms of appointments, and although different care trusts operate in slightly different ways, I reckon they're probably about the same when it comes to stuff like this. It says you should have direct access to a midwife by about 10 weeks (i.e. have had a booking appt.), followed by a first hospital visit at 11-13 weeks for a dating scan and blood screening tests. I won't list the ones after that (there are 9 others for first-time mothers; 7 for subsequent pregnancies).

It might be worth contacting your GP again and asking for the name and number of your midwife, just in case you need to ring her for anything or for reassurance.

EMS23 · 07/04/2010 13:22

Hi everyone - so nice to see all these people with Nov due dates!

I went to the doctors about 2 weeks ago and the midwife called me on Saturday to schedule my booking in appointment which is next Weds (14th) when I'll be 8 weeks.

I'm a bit worried about my lack of symptoms though. I've got sore boobs and feel a bit tired but that's about it! I wonder if it's all a figment of my imagination sometimes - can't wait to see the scan!

Told my parents at the weekend which was brilliant - they were so happy and excited! They've been grandparents for 18 years but I'm their only daughter so my mum in particular was thrilled as both my sister in laws didn't really involve her much so she's loving being able to get involved!

jwiggles · 07/04/2010 15:46

Hello all, I am totally new to all of this...1st baby and 1st pregnancy website I have been recommended!
I am due on the 15th November and cant quite believe it really!
We decided to start for a family on New Years Eve, and a couple of months later... here we are!
My hubby is v excited, and so I am I in the context of buying lots of lovely things and all that the future holds, but not excited for morning sickness, pain, and the actual labour! eeeek
The biggest change is my boobs - they have really grown, and im in desperate need of new bras but hanging on a bit as dont want to have to buy more in the future!
I have felt sick, mostly in the evenings, but unfortunately had gastroenteritis for the last 3 weeks so it could have been that really. Looking forward to feeling 'well' again and having a nice pregnancy.
We are going to tell our family and friends after our 12 week scan ..will be more real then as not really showing much, although I feel like a whale already!
Its great to share experiences on here as my hubby doesnt really understand when I tell him about all my pains n woes!
Lovely to meet you all!

JosephineClaire · 07/04/2010 16:12

Hello jwiggles I'm also due on 15 November!

And I also have morning sickness in the evening - it actually works better for me in terms of work. I'd be hopeless if I was ill in the mornings.

Minette - I know, it is strange to be signing up for Sept classes now, but I was really keen to secure a place. £163 up front though - ouch!

As for Swine Flu jab - I asked for it the moment I stepped into the doctors for the first time since taking the test. Didn't really give them a chance to offer it! But when asked, the Doc said it's highly recommended, and he doesn't understand why so many women are turning it down.
All the staff in the medical centre have had the vaccine and recommend it, although I do know of some midwives in other areas who have said no.

No vaccines are tested on pregnant women ever, so the fact it hasn't been tested on pg women isn't really a reason to say no.....and also, SF is due to resurface in Sept, when we will all be in 3rd trimester and in the highest risk group.

Apparently it's only a slight variation on the normal flu vaccine, so it's been tested a lot, and used for many years....
Well - that's what I was told anyway, so I went ahead and had my jab at 5 wks.

I guess you could ask your MW for more information and go from there?

The only other thing is that the doc in my area says the vaccine is only available until the end of April, and then they're not really doing it again until Sept. Not sure if that's just here, or nationwide.

Congratulations everyone x

Hello all,

I'm 6+3 and am having the worst week! I'm utterly exhausted and was in bed at 7.30pm last night! Getting through the day at work is so tiring and hard, my energy levels are at minus. I'm also getting nausea in the evenings and am trying to eat little but often. I feel as if I need a week in bed, which isn't going to happen as we are moving house this weekend!

I spoke to my hospital yesterday and they haven't received my GP's referral yet and told me to expect my first midwife appointment and scan at 10-12 weeks. It seems such a long time to wait, but hopefully it will go quickly.

I'm very happy and excited about about becoming a mummy - just wish I felt a bit better at the mo'

Congrats everyone x

BearBear1981 · 07/04/2010 19:12

Yes I'm due Nov 2nd.
Am 8 or 9 weeks now and full of sickness. This is my second baby and not quite dawned on me yet that I'm having another!!!

Nancy10 · 08/04/2010 09:17

Hi everyone, I haven't been on since my pregnancy announcement 2 weeks ago! Like most of you I'm concerned about lack of symptoms. My 2 previous pregnancies were taken over by really bad morning sickness. I started being sick with my first at 9 weeks and at 5 weeks with my 2nd pregnancy (twins!)
The only signs I'd say I have are, sore boobs. I notice this mainly when I get out of the bath if the towel is a bit rough and I have not touched a single piece of chocolate in 2 weeks. (I am usually a complete chocoholic, so very unusual!)
I'm seeing my midwife on Tuesday and Im really hoping she sends me for an early scan as I've had twins!
I have done loads of tests all positive and the line is very obvious. Roll on scan is all I can say!

jwiggles · 08/04/2010 13:19

I went for my first midwife appointment today and she was lovely. She also gave me heaps of information, books, leaflets vouchers, you name it, my arms were full when I left the surgery!

Very exciting, but just wish I had a few more symptoms than just sore breasts and feeling sick in the evening ... my 12 week scan seems ages away. (5th May)

Why is it when you want time to pass it doesnt, and the last few years have gone like a flash!

Congrats everyone, very exciting isnt it!

planner26 · 08/04/2010 16:21

Had my first scan today at 6w - we were so nervous beforehand as I'd been having some spotting and cramping but all looked good and we saw a little heartbeat and got a photo! Brilliant! Looks like I might be able to get a little more than three hours sleep tonight like I have been recently from worrying!

Also, cramping seems to have gone away mostly (apart from odd twinge) but sickness has HIT ME the past few days I feel so nauseous like car-sickness on and off. I even had to stop moving my head to look at DPs magazine article this morning as it was making me feel ill.

Just can't wait til 12 week scan - will feel so much better if all ok then. This is my first and all this is v. new but lovely to have the support of this group.

Minette75 · 08/04/2010 18:00

Hi planner26

May I ask how you went about getting such an early scan?

I'm 7+2 and like you had spotting and cramping, in fact it lasted about a week and I was very anxious.

But I'm still waiting to hear back from the maternity unit about my referral so I have not even seen a midwife yet, just my GP 2 weeks ago.

It is also my first and as I said in a previous post, MN seems to be the only real support we get in these crucial first weeks.

Thanks in advance.

planner26 · 08/04/2010 18:22

Hi Minette - do you have an Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit nearby? I went straight to my GP with my concerns and she seemed worried enough to refer me straight to our local EPAU at the nearest hospital (which is luckily only a couple of miles away). At that point I hadn't even had my first midwife appointment (it's booked for next Weds now).

I would go back to the GP with your symptoms - these are common enough but can also be cause for concern and they should check it out further. I would've got a scan the same day but I was too early for them to see anything. Just keep pestering you GP - it will put your mind at rest to get a scan. They were lovely at the EPAU and said that if I start with the spotting again to go straight to them and not even bother with my GP. If you can get in at one I would recommend it.

Good luck with getting a referral it can be such a worrying time (and still is up until I see the baby healthy and happy I think!) but I'm trying to relax a bit more. x
