Are there any others out there expecting November babies?

Our first baby is due on 15 November (so I'm 6+1) and I'm the first of all my friends get married and get pregnant. Would love to compare notes/worries/milestones with some other girls due around the same time...

Love Jo x

Hello,

Sorry, I am quite new on here - but can I join in? I am due on the 19th November :-)

I am having a horrid pregnancy, still feeling sick and have low blood pressure so feeling dizzy and faint a lot too. I am really struggling to keep going to work and although I work from home a couple of days a week, it isn't enough! Can't wait for my mat leave to start!

My little girl is really kicking though, and for about half an hour she seems to be kicking down right between my two rather delicate places!!! Very odd...

Hope everyone is doing well

Sam x

emmyloo2 · 19/08/2010 16:46

Hi all,

Can't believe I only have 12 weeks to go now. Getting closer. I am feeling lots of kicking but it's not that strong because of the anterior placenta. Some days he is very quiet and other days much more active.

Still feeling reasonably spritely but very tired on the weekend after a full week of work. Still another 9-10 weeks of work left.....although this may change as I get closer to the time.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Artyparty · 24/08/2010 12:59

Hello girls
Yes, isn't it all exciting! The real countdown now. Like you smithy I am counting the days until I no longer have to do my daily commute and put up with all the work nonsense! Don't they realise I've got more important things to do? Grin
Poor you samraves. Sorry to hear you're not having a nice pregnancy. It will all be worth it in the end.

I'm lucky that I've been given tonnes of baby stuff from my sister-in-law and have hardly anything left to buy.

What's everyone else buying? There are countless lists everywhere you look and the amount of advice makes your head explode! Wink

daisystone · 24/08/2010 15:40

I feel quite sorted now. I have gradually bought everything I need apart from a pram/pushchair and a car seat. They are the only big things left to get.

My changing table and nursing chair and stool turned up yesterday and my DH will have to put them together as I am no good at flat pack stuff.

Then we need to re-arrange the room which will be the babies as currently it is our small spare room.

Ante-natal classes start tomorrow! I'm nervous - no idea why! It just feels so real now - no more playing around.......I am actually having a baby. Crazy.

Artyparty · 25/08/2010 11:12

Exactly - everything seems to have speeded up. DH nearly fainted when I held a tape measure to my tummy showing how long the baby is! I think he still thought it was wallnut sized! Grin

Samraves · 25/08/2010 17:36

I have literally just started getting stuff. My mum and dad bought down a pram which they got from a friend, which I am in two minds about - I don't like it much, but it is free - and I don't particularly like most of the other prams for little tiny babies anyway so will prob just use it for the first few months then ditch it...

On the plus side, I bought some really cute sleep suits and such a cute snow suit thingy :-)

I don't really know where to start, because people have said they are giving me stuff, but I don't know what!!

Artyparty · 26/08/2010 11:02

That sounds fine Samraves. From what I've heard and seen, you don't need half of it. Eg loads of friends bought changing tables and then used the floor and their babies didn't like being carried in the designer papoose etc!!! Wink

I am 30 weeks now and have just developed the most disgusting metallic taste in my mouth - nothing seems to make it go away. I thought this was early pregnancy - can anyone advise?

Samraves · 26/08/2010 13:27

Lol yes, my friend has said she has two different sling / papoosey things I can try as she bought them and didn't get on with either...

Good that you feel sorted Daisystone :-)

Sorry about the horrible taste, Artyparty - don't know what to recommend really... if it to do with heartburn a fromage frais may help? or just continual mints :-S

fireflyz · 27/08/2010 10:17

Hi everyone
artyparty I've heard a glass of cold milk is good, best if skimmed as then doesn't have that creamy aftertaste.
Fromage frais is a current favourite of mine too, samraves and I also love muller fruit corner yogurts...

So far I've bought:
some baby clothes from mothercare (home delivery between 8am to 9pm, er hello, have they not heard of delivery slots?!) - I used a combination of the list in the free Bounty booklet and a John Lewis list of what clothes to buy, still got to buy some things but thought it would be more fun to do it in stages (and less scary when you get to the Checkout!)

moses basket
buggy/car seat combo

still to buy:
cotbed or cot
changing mat
baby bath

and I bet there are loads of other things that are on the list but those are the key ones I can remember!

Am now using bio-oil with gay abandon! wore a rather low cut top to work the other day and realised when I got in that I was glistening from the chin down - oops :)

Looking forward to antenatal classes starting in a week or so.

Has anyone signed up for Early Days NCT classes?

Artyparty · 27/08/2010 11:18

Thanks fireflyz & samraves

Your list sounds similar to mine. It goes something like:
Somewhere to sleep
Some transport
Something to wear
Something to bath in
Some feeding eqipment
and NAPPIES gallore!
Grin

I am starting NCT antenatal in a couple of weeks and have signed up for the Early days course too.

I was a bit sceptical because there are many free drop-in things near me, but my closest fried advised me that once DH is back at work and you are left alone, not really knowing what you're doing the classes are invaluable for sanity! £99 well spent!!
Wink

Mama2Monkeys · 28/08/2010 19:34

remember me?

Got 2DC, due 15th Nov, currently 28wks, expecting a boy.

My update ...

  • got SPD, never had it with other pregnancies. It hurts Sad. So far sleeping sat upright (not ideal) seems to make it hurt less.
  • Baby fine. Moving lots. Got scan at 32wk to check placenta.
  • Considering trying to BF especially with this being our last babe. See if I can lay some ghosts to rest. Thinking of going to a couple of classes (other DCs FF after bad experience with DC1). Figure I will try it, if it doesn't happen then FF.
  • Me and DH arguing whenever we talk babes middle name or NAMES as DH wants it Sad.
  • Renegotiated working hours ready for return to work after babe and to cover DS starting at school in a few days.
  • Start maternity leave 4wks before due date 14th Oct Smile. So between kids at nursery and school will be able to shop and rest Smile.

Oh not bought ANYTHING yet or even thought about hospital bag. But probably as used to late babes.

Love to you all. Will try to catch up on nearly a month of posts.

fireflyz · 03/09/2010 13:32

Hi everyone

Glad to hear positive comments re Early Days classes, artyparty
I thought they sounded like a good idea too from a sociable and experience-sharing point of view, but have been wondering about it lately as they're in January and I'll be relying on taxis or buses to get to them. Still if it's grim weather, it might be even more of a good idea as it'll force me to get out during the day and meet people and it's only once a week.

Just had 28 weeks bloods taken. All fine except nurse said I was rather pale afterwards and asked if I had anything with me to eat - I didn't, so she kindly gave me an apple she happened to have and a glass of water.
So there's my tip for the day, if any of you are still about to have your bloods taken, take along something to nibble!

Hope the results will be OK. Oh well, right now I seem fine, so best get on with enjoying the present, eh?!

Just rediscovered hummus. Hummus and grated carrot sandwiches... hummus out the pot with a spoon - oh yes! Meanwhile the nutella pot sits untouched at the back of the cupboard...

Chocolate hasn't got the same appeal as it once had. I had a bite of a wispa bar the other day and it just did not taste the same - I could taste everything else in it apart from the chocolate! I had a Double Decker a few weeks back which was good but the Wispa experience has put me off trying much more chocolate. Probably a good thing.
Maybe I will become a Posh Chocolate Girl... :o

PS Does anyone secretly worry that their mum-to-be friends will choose the same name for their baby that you wanted for yours?

Artyparty · 03/09/2010 16:46

Ha Ha fireflyz,
I had an early panic about that one...
Our good friends had chosen not only the same name but second name aswell. I was secretly fuming but had to let it go as she was due 2 months before me.
Now they've had the baby they've got another name altogether, so ours is still available!
Phew!
Wink

Like your taste tips. I'm loving my savouries too at the moment.

Yep my Early Days starts in Jan and i'll be going by public transport too. It'll be a good motivator to get out and about as you say... and speak to some adults!

My colleagues seem to think I should have my 'bag' ready at work. I am due in two months... isn't this a bit hasty? Shock

fireflyz · 05/09/2010 22:12

hee hee... glad I'm not alone in having worries about name availability! I guess there are a lot of names out there but it's hard when you've set your heart on one or two names in particular.

2 months ahead of time sounds a bit early for The Bag, but who am I to say?! Guess it won't hurt to have some things ready - you've inspired me to get organised, artyparty :)

EMS23 · 06/09/2010 08:38

Hello all,

Nice to hear everyone getting on well and all being so prepared, i've bought exactly nothing. Not one baby related thing!

I'm home to see my parents this weekend so my Mum will probably drag me down the shops at some point and I'll start thinking about it all a bit more seriously.

Hit a milestone this week, finally... my DH felt a kick which he proclaimed to be a huge anticlimax as it didn't really feel like much! I've been telling him she's a quiet baby and I don't get big kicks but I'm glad he got to feel it anyway. Probably the only one she'll grace him with!

Only this week and next left at work - so so looking forward to being off and getting everything organised and sorted.

Hope you're all well

JosephineClaire · 06/09/2010 12:13

Oh EMS23 I am so jealous! I don't finish work until 22 October, and it seems so far away!

However, I do work at home, so can't complain too much. This morning I'm working in the dining room with a nice cup of tea while some professional cleaners get to work on cleaning my sofas and spraying them with stain resistant coating ready for the messy world of parenthood. Nesting is so much easier when you hire people to do the tricky jobs :)

Fireflyz - I have the same name fear! I have two colleagues due in the same fortnight as me, and two SILs also pregnant, and I'll just cry my eyes out if they use my names!

Got my first NHS antenatal class tomorrow and first NCT in a few weeks - has anyone else had an NHS class yet? x

jwiggles · 06/09/2010 12:33

Hi ladies,
I finish work on the 7th October....5 weeks to go and im counting down every day! Cant wait to be off and not have to travel 30 miles everyday into work.

I can work from home sometimes which is great, but it still means I have to log-on at 9am and be available all day.

I cant wait to just get up when I want to, do what I want to, and not have to worry about work anymore...

What are you all looking forward to most once you start your maternity leave?

Do you all have your hospital bags packed yet? Mine is about half done now...

9 weeks to go! Eeeeek

riggsy2 · 06/09/2010 16:44

So anyone else realised that we early-Novembers are now in single figures until D-Day? I'm not sure if I was in a state of denial or the hormones were just messing with my maths ability, but it took a friend to point it out to me today that I only have 8 and a bit weeks to go (due 7 November). Me and DH are starting antenatal classes tomorrow so I suppose that will make it all seem a bit real, but for some reason I am waiting for the panic to hit me. Suppose I will have plenty of time to think about it when I break up from work in a couple of weeks time....How is everyone else feeling?

lainey1981 · 08/09/2010 13:12

Hi riggsy2 you have the same due date as me!

I am on the mental countdown to leaving work, getting to work and getting home again is becoming a struggle (even though it's only 40 mins door to door) due to constant back ache/sciatica etc etc :(

Start mat leave on 08 Nov, but have 2 weeks leave before than so last day is 22 Oct. I have also booked in some 3 day weeks starting 27 Sept - can't wait. more time at home than at work - bliss. It's rubbish as we don't really have much going on at work atm so days are dragging and jsut trying to stay comfy in my chair all day is enough to be getting on with lol.

Am going shopping at the weekend - buying a changing unit/drawers so can start packing away the bits we've bought for the LO.

Haven't booked NCT classes in the end as they didn't have any on offer that didn't require DH to take 3 afternoons off work (he wants to save leave for when DS arrives)
am planning to go to the NHS classes, and then go to NCT drop in sessions - bumps n babes to hopefully make some mummy friends

hope everyone else is ok?

Samraves · 08/09/2010 18:30

Hiya,

I am sooo counting down the days till I am off work. My mat leave starts on 1st Nov (even though I am not due till the 19th) but I have two weeks of annual leave before that so am off from 15th Oct - hooray!

As for names, we have already chosen one - Emily and have started calling her that when we refer to her.... so tough if anyone else wants it! Still the people I know have already decided on Wilfred, Frances and one friend hasn't made up her mind, but cos she is my best mate I know she won't nick Emily!

While I am getting used to being kicked and stuff, I still am getting a little freaked out seeing my stomach actually move - goodness knows how freaked out I will be when I start seeing hands, elbows or feet poking out!!!

Hope everyone is ok x

Mama2Monkeys · 12/09/2010 17:53

Hi ladies. 31wks tomorrow and going for my 1st SPD physio, eek! Sure DC3 is going to be on time or slightly early rather than late like his bro and sis. I'm also now on iron tablets and have very unsightly vains in legs to accompany the spd pain. Didn't have ANY issues with the other two monkeys. Think my body saying enough is enough.

On top of baby pains and stuff had DS starting at school, work, a poorly DD and a car which has broken down twice in a couple of weeks. All with my second in command, DH, away Sad. Sooo ready Hmm for babe. Unlike with other DCs I only started getting fed up after EDD passed.

Oh and decided to try to BF this babe after being unsuccessful with DC1 and not trying with DC2. Going to a class on 4th Oct and also got a friend who is BF whom would be excellent support. If BF doesnt happen I will just go to FF but at least I will have tried this time.

On good notes though seeing babe next week for extra scan to check placenta, bought most babe and hospital bag bits and due to me compromising on middle names now very close to a name for our babe. Just got two 1st names to choose between. Ohhh and finish work on 14th Oct Smile.

ro4chat · 22/09/2010 13:04

Hello ladies!
How is everybody feeling?
I'm approaching 34 weeks, can't believe how close we are to D Day!

I've been going to NCT Antenatal classes, I'm pleased to say it was money well spent. I feel more confident now about going through labor because I understand better what my body is trying to do.
The bump is quite heavy and sleeping is not as fun as it used to be.

My only worry now is that I've started to experience period type pains. Mainly on the lower part of my belly, but also on the sides of my back. It really is very umpleasant, the pain on the back doesn`t go away even with massage.

Has anybody felt like this?
I'm also getting Braxton contractions, but those feel different, just the belly really hard and my chest feels really tight, nothing too bad.

If it was 2 or 3 weeks later, I would be ok, thinking maybe it's labor coming early, but it's really too soon and the pain worries me.
I'm seeing me MW tomorrow, so I will ask her, but I wanted to check with you Mums first.

I really hope you're all feeling great.

sarahbuff · 22/09/2010 13:30

Hey ladies, I'm joining a bit late, 33 weeks now. :) Due Nov. 9 according to scan, 16th according to me. And this is my 4th baby, we have three boys. Anyone else feeling like it can't possibly be another 2 months to go?? Well, at least on the days with bad SPD and baby putting pressure directly on my nether regions!! Grin Really different pregnancy this time than the other three, never had spd before and also have yucky varicose veins (sorry if TMI!) and way smaller/neater bump than the others. Planning a homebirth, and can hardly wait! Just to say Mama2Monkeys, hope you succeed with bfing, I bfed my three boys each until they were 2.5years and the best thing you can do to get going (cuz once you get the hang of it it's easy!) is to make sure you get someone to show you how the baby should be latching on because once you let baby suckle and the latch isn't right, you'll start to get unnecessarily sore and can lead to drying/cracking/bleeding nipples and hungry baby not getting enough which then leads to milk not coming in quickly and not enough milk there, etc etc. First latch is vital, don't be afraid to demand as much help as you need to get things going, and if the midwives are useless ask for a bfing counselor or get in touch with someone from La Leche League, they are fab. Good luck with everything!

And to ro4chat, don't worry about the Braxton Hicks, assuming they aren't regular and painful than they are just "practice" for the real thing.
