currently in hospiital as my waters broke at just under 15 weeks last night. it is a twin pregnancy and so far one twin seems ok, but the other twin has no anmiotic fluid and little movement but does have a heartbeat.

if anyone has any experience of this, good or bad, please post. i don't think the pprgnosis is good sadly.

thanks..

OOh - god - that came out a bit wrong. I meant good luck for the scans!
Crikey - my pregnancy brain is really taking over!

PrivetDancer · 14/04/2010 13:58

Hi midori - I hope your scan went ok today

jurisfictionoperative · 15/04/2010 01:18

Oh do post and let us know how you are! You cant start the thread, get us all worrying about you and then leave us hanging! we are all behind you. x

TootaLaFruit · 15/04/2010 11:28

Jurisfiction - I'm sure you don't mean it in this way but your post comes across a little like we're watching a soap opera and have been left hanging for the next episode. Midori will post when she wants to. We don't know what may or may not have happened, but she surely doesn't need people on MN hassling her for updates.

As I said before, I'm sure you didn't mean it to come across that way, just wanted to say that she probably has enough on her plate without needing to rush back to MN with news.

Midori - as Jurisfiction said, we are all behind you. Come back when you're ready.

StealthPolarBear · 15/04/2010 11:37

hope everything went well x

jurisfictionoperative · 15/04/2010 16:01

Oh, I'm really sorry if I sounded insensitive. It wasn't meant that was at all. I have been following this post since the beginning, and am crossing everything for Midori and her twins. I apologise unreservedly for sounding like a voyeuristic twat, I would just like to hear how they are doing. x

mumtotwoboys · 15/04/2010 16:20

bless you, I'm eager to know too, sending good vibes and hoping all is well

planner26 · 15/04/2010 16:45

Sending you positive thoughts and support hope everything went ok for two little ones today x

Thanks everyone. Have had a busy few days and in hospital with only iPhone for internet access so is easyish to browse but painstaking to post. Lol.

Consultant appointment went well and anomoly scan went well. They couldn't check internal organs of twin 1 as lack of fluid makes it hard, but there did seem to be fluid in babies bladder, which is good. Otherwise, both twins seemed fine and are growing well, twin 1 was actually measuring the biggest, although not by much. Neither would confirm, but consultant and sonographer both though twin 2 is a girl, couldn't see for twin 1.

After the anomoly scan the midwife sent me to the day assessment unit as I had been getting very short of breath since mon/Tuesday. It turns out I have a pulmonary embolism/blood clot in lungs. Obviously worried but the doctors think if it was going to cause a serious problem it would have by now and it's not a direct threat to the babies. I am on injections to treat which I will need to continue for the rest of my pregnancy and afterwards.

The major worry for me now is that they have discovered I have bacterial vaginosis, which is an infection, from a swab they took on Saturday. It can cause early labour. They are treating me with antibiotics and hopefully it will clear with no problem. I don't have any symptoms so wouldn't have known I had it if it wasn't for the swab.

Good news is that the babies seem completely oblivious to all and are happily wriggling away. Also, the consultant has said they will consider resuscitation after 23 weeks if that is what I want, dependant on condition and weight of the babies at birth. They'd only have a very small chance then, (10%) but still a chance, more than they have now. Hopefully I can hang on and sail past 24 weeks.

Thanks so much to everyone for the support, it really helps a lot .

Very pleased to hear from you midori! and that is great news that they are not going to stick to the 24 week deadline too, must be a bit of a relief

The clot and infection sound scary but at least they are known about and can be managed.

go twins!!

rosieposey · 16/04/2010 10:04

Midori, oh you are in the wars arent you!? So glad that the babies are doing ok but sorry to hear about your pulmonary emobolism - not a nice thing to have

Ive not posted before but just wanted to say, well done for keeping those babies in there and i am SO glad they are hanging on and doing ok.

Will the bacterial vaginosis go once you have finished the antibiotics? Hope so.

Good news that they will consider resuscitation too, how many weeks are you now?

Will keep everything crossed for you all xx

BosomsByTheSea · 16/04/2010 10:08

Good to hear those babies are doing so well. Sorry to hear about the clot and the infection - it sounds as though you are getting good care, though - make sure you let yourself be looked after!

MumNWLondon · 16/04/2010 10:15

Pleased to hear its all ok, and hope the infection clears up, and that the clot doesn't cause any probs - good that they found it.

Anyway hopefully they can hang on in there for the next few weeks at least....

StealthPolarBear · 16/04/2010 11:35

glad things are OK although it sounds like you are having a rough time!

foxyjbro99 · 16/04/2010 13:47

That's excellent news, can't believe twin 1 has overtaken twin 2!!

x

midori1999 · 16/04/2010 16:44

Thanks all. I am 21+5 today.

It is good news that twin 1 is growing well. However the crucial thing is lung development and there may or may not be enough fluid present for the babies lungs to develop enough for it to survive outside the womb. We just won't know until the babies are born. Still, for now so far things are going well in that I am still pregnant and babies seem to be doing well. I just hope more than anything I can hang on a couple more weeks at least.

I'm so glad you and the babies are doing okay (relatively speaking), we are all rooting for you. It's not long to go now, hang in there. The law of averages says that the more crap you get now the less chance of anymore heading your way! I have never experienced anything like this but you sound braver than I could ever be! Keep strong. X

missedith01 · 17/04/2010 02:18

Great news about your babies. Look after yourself ... they need you!

mumtotwoboys · 17/04/2010 09:49

Wow they are little fighters!
and so are you.
So happy to hear youre nearly 22 weeks!
Awesome x

nes100 · 18/04/2010 13:13

Hi there, my mum's waters broke with me when she was 14weeks, they could also hear a heart beat and so she spend several weeks in bed and as you've guessed by the fact i am writing this it all turned out ok (infact she is soon to be a grandma as I am now 6 weeks pregnant!)

cakeforbrains · 19/04/2010 18:46

So pleased that the babies are growing well. Fingers crossed for the next few weeks!

summersong · 19/04/2010 19:14

Hi midori,

So sorry to hear of your problems. I had prom at week 18 of my pregnancy and carried her through to week 30. It wasn't twins though however I do know how you feel.

I have heard some success stories so your right to remain so positive.

Good luck to you and I will check in from time to time to see how you are getting on.

My prayers are with you. xx

geordieminx · 19/04/2010 19:18
