currently in hospiital as my waters broke at just under 15 weeks last night. it is a twin pregnancy and so far one twin seems ok, but the other twin has no anmiotic fluid and little movement but does have a heartbeat.

if anyone has any experience of this, good or bad, please post. i don't think the pprgnosis is good sadly.

thanks..

Thanks for the update, good to hear that your babies are growing and moving and heartbeats still sound. Know exactly what you mean about getting to 24 weeks, I was counting down the days in my pregnancy after the PPROM. At least you know then there's a chance and people will be trying to save them. Keep thinking positively, you know you're doing everything you can.

lifeistooshort · 10/03/2010 20:26

Oh midori, this is encouraging, you must have been so relieved. Of course the road to be out of the woods is long, but every day is a little victory. Still sending you a lot of positive thought and thinking of you

minouminou · 10/03/2010 22:06

Crossing just about everything I've got for you, Midori. Will be keeping a close eye on your progress - hang on in there, little guy.

HelenFF · 11/03/2010 00:36

Someone I know via another forum had PPROM at around 13 weeks and was told both babies would definitely die.

She carried both until 27/8 weeks, I think. Unfortunately one of the babies had no fluid and died shortly after birth. But the other baby survived and is doing well.

This is her blog - it's blunt and angry but honest. notashamedinfertility.blogspot.com

And of course sometimes you can start to get more fluid again. best of luck.

Geepers · 11/03/2010 07:06

My waters broke around one twin at 18 weeks, and I managed to hold on til 23 weeks 5 days.

The babies are now 6 weeks and although still very poorly (the twin with no fluid now has very, very poor lungs) they are hanging on.

Good luck.

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2010 07:20

was wondering about you yesterday, glad to hear they are still growing.
Geepers, remember your thread as well, hope you are coping OK xx

Thankyou for the positive stories and support.

I have had another consultant appointment today and actually saw my own consultant, which was great, although he now goes on holiday, so I won't see him for a couple of weeks, he is by far the most positive person I have seen so far though, I really like him. Also, his own son has Cerebral Palsy, which I think helps him to understand that the fact premature babies may have 'extra' problems is not a reason to write them off.

Anyway, both twins are still doing fine. Twin 1 (the one with ruptured membranes) does have some fluid around it, but in pools, so not much, but it looked better to me and hubby than before. And the consultant wrote on my notes 'low but some fluid' which is good. (Odd now what I consider to be good news... ) Twin 2 is completely fine and normal. Twin 1 is head down, twin 2 breech, so that's fine too.

The 'bad' news (although it's not seeming that bad to me at the moment) is that one of the placentas is anterior and low. Obviously maybe a problem for delivery or a cesarean, but one of my worries has been getting a prolapsed cord and the consultant felt the placenta being where it was probably reduced the risk of that, which can only be a good thing.

My CRP levels were down to 21 today. Still higher than they should be, but my white cell count is normal and the consultant said as long as they are staying around the same, that is fine. He would only worry if they suddenly started to rise quickly.

So, all in all, I feel quite positive today. Still a long way to go, but only 6+5 until 24 weeks, a lot less than I started with.

Hi Midori, I haven't seen your posts or story until today but I just wanted to say good luck and well done with how well you've been coping. You seem as in control of the situation as you can be and with that kind of strength, and the support of your dh, I'm sure the outcome will the the one you want. Will be watching this thread for the countdown to 24 weeks. Go twins go!

Wow you're babies are such little fighters

I'm praying for them, especially twin 1 who must be so determined.

Hope everything goes really well.

missedith01 · 19/03/2010 10:00

Just seen this post for the first time and wanted to say I am rooting for you and your twins!

I lost my waters a 20 weeks last year and was in the same position - too early for delivery with a scant chance that fluid will build up again. My consultant did tell us straight away the prognosis was bad, but he did also say that babies have been known to stay put until 27/28 weeks. (Altho we had a heartbeat at first we lost him a day later, so it didn't end well for us.)

Everything crossed for you ...

monkeyfacegrace · 20/03/2010 21:30

How's you and your fighters Mid?

midori1999 · 20/03/2010 23:42

Hi! Thanks for asking. All fine for now, as far as I know anyway! Feeling movement, but not sure if I can only feel one twin, although suspect I can as the other's movement is limited due to the lack of fluid.

Having another scan and consultant's appointment on Tuesday.
