Signs of labour starting soon?

I have had a dodgy tummy and mild backhache for the last 2 days. I am also feeling more emotional and sometimes a bit down. As I am 37 weeks I am starting to become obsessed that this may be a sign that my body is gearing up for labour. Then I think it could be another 4 weeks!!!
As I was induced with Dd I am not familiar with the build up to labour and am finding I can't get on and do anything because a) I feel like a big fat tired walrus and b) I keep analysing how I feel.
Anyone had similar experience?

midwives have just been round. I'm 2cm dilated - irregular contractions - but baby has at least turned mostly round. So I suppose I'm meant to keep calm and keep going. DP is home - well, he's gone to drop off dd's overnight bag, as I only packed it this morning - she can stay at her childminder's tonight, hurrah.

This is truly, truly weird. I'm not expecting a baby just yet!

If it's anything like last time you can give it a couple of days - but hey, already it isn't.

Thanks for the support. I will admit I'm frightened. Going to walk around and think calm thoughts now!

Dear AliP.... obviously your body is nearly there - please stay off the induction (that includes sweeep as it IS an induction!) - I am only saying this for your sake... it only makes labour more painful
How many weeks will you be on Thursday and how many weeks were you with your first?

So looking forward to Motherinferior's tales !

WideWebWitch · 24/06/2003 20:17

wanted to revive this thread as a friend of mine has asked me the same question; do you have any signs when you're about to go into labour. For me I woke up and knew straight away because I went quickly into strong contractions but I never had a show and my waters were ruptured once I wa in established labour in hospital. How did you know that you were going into labour?

pupuce · 04/09/2003 09:56

Both times started with contractions - my waters went naturally at end of labour.

lou33 · 04/09/2003 19:56

Number 1 started with contractions 3 mins apart and waters breaking at the same time. Number 2 started with my waters breaking and contractions every few mins about 15 minutes later. Number three was like number 2 but contractions started about 10 mins later, and number 4 I was induced.
