October 2010 babies?

1001 replies

FutureMum · 29/01/2010 08:54

Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

Good to hear the cramps are normal - been worried about that. Otherwise feeling great since :-)

It's so nerve wracking waiting until the 12 week scan - I'm 4.5 weeks so got a long long time to go yet!

ellabella2 · 18/02/2010 16:50

I can certainly join all those experiencing cramps. I get on/off very mild twinges, stabbey pains and sometimes crampy feeling all low down around my uterus area; on either side at different times and sometimes over the pubic bone area. It is really disconcerting isn't it but apparently normal. I suppose when you think about all the growth and changes going on down there it is hardly surprising. Doesn't stop routine knicker checking though

So feeling for all those suffering with nausea and sickness I still havn't had any real queasiness yet, which I know I should be grateful for but any excuse to worry

I'll be 7 weeks this weekend and have my dr appointment booked in for next week.

On the topic of this thread: I like the idea of keeping it going as I feel a part of this group now. How about we stick around on the 'pregnancy' board for a bit longer and then maybe move over to the 'antenatal' board with our own name once people start reaching their 12 week scan milestone?

DillyDora · 18/02/2010 17:01

ellebella2 I'm with you on the knicker checking - OMG! I could get ocd right there.

Just teaching for 2 hrs and most uncomfortable, had to do a couple of unscheduled sit downs....I don't know how you 'proper' teachers do it.

And on the subject of jobs - how glamorous and generally fabulous are you lot?! Cameramen about the place, flying, Navy chicks! Sheesh!

Happy to move whenever we need to as long as someone tells me how.

So, so desperate for a nap! Might have the stepsons this weekend (twin 9 yr olds!) so please o please let the ms hold off for a few days longer - don't want to have to explain anything yet as all hell will break loose with their mother

ellabella2 · 18/02/2010 17:34

DillyDora I quite agree about all the glamorous sounding jobs. I'm an Occupational Therapist working with adults with mental health and learning disabilities; hardly glamorous

Fingers crossed for a no show of ms over the weekend and good luck with 9 yr old twins

Now . . waist size! I know that technically you're not meant to see any changes until at least 10 plus weeks but . . I am convinced that for the last few days I have had a slightly more rounded little tum I have also put on a couple o pounds over the last week. Is anyone else noticing any changes to their shape or weight?

Edie1010 · 18/02/2010 18:16

Hello,

Can I join your group please?

This is my first pregnancy and the EDD I have been given is 10th October so in my 7th Week

Have my booking apt and first scan in March ....

Having some cramps so good to hear from you all that this is normal - like ellabella2 and DillyDora - I am on knicker watch too

Slightly concerned at the potential cup size increase though....I am DD not pregnant so I may look Jordan esq by October - what is the maximum maternity cup size you can buy

My husband will love it, although we currently have a "no touch" policy - damn sore...

TwoCupcakes · 18/02/2010 18:24

hi ya all,

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with third child, due 17th oct. very excited as had only been trying for 2 mths. hope everyone is well ( i had the worst morning sickness ever with first DD and slightly less with 2nd DD and hoping desparately for even less with the third one now!)

flyingdoll · 18/02/2010 18:37

I share your worries re cramps and on off stabby pains, so glad to hear they are normal. At 6 weeks i have no sickness but could fall asleep at the drop of a hat! Knicker checking all day too.

Hermya321 · 18/02/2010 18:50

Hello all,

I hope all of you have been having a good day. I went to the dentist and for once they let me go without drilling holes into my teeth, good day to be alive!!

My pringle addiction still abounds, I am going to be the size of a house by the time I'm finished.

Dillydora No worries, it might be best just to leave this one in here. To be honest I looked at pregnancy and found this one and figured it was good enough for me. I'm taking omega three that is specifically for pregnant women. I checked with the pharmacist who was very helpful.

jazziejeff Mmmmmmmm cheese!! Oh with pickle, I need to go and make myself a sandwich now. Sorry to hear about your bra drama, is there anyway of getting some at some point?

Ellabella I could kiss you, you've made me feel so much better. I'm getting cramps as well and it's made me so paranoid.

Edie1010 and twocupcakes Welcome on board!!!

I can't beleive theres a cameraman on here, nearest I've ever got to a camera was when I borrowed my cousins.

ellabella2 · 18/02/2010 19:39

Welcome Eddie1010 and Twocupcakes.

It really is sooo reassuring to hear so many of us are having cramps and twinges [phew]

I've just eaten 5 or was it 6 pancakes Once I got going I quite enjoyed them; I was only trying to 'shush' my DP who was giving me an ear bashing for not eating enough and 'looking after myself'

SilverSky · 18/02/2010 20:41

I can't stop eating! Its scary!!

I have switched to decaff instant coffee.

Now cramps have gone, I don't feel pregnant as such. I too am on knickerwatch. I am taking it one day at a time as there are no guarantees.

Seeing the Dr next week, so hope all continues to go well.

JazzieJeff · 18/02/2010 20:53

Hello edie1010 and twocupcakes! Hope you're both well
Silversky; I am the same I was so hungry last night even after a really big dinner stocked with heavy carbs like brown rice. Literally a shocking hunger, like I hadn't eaten all day is it the same with you?
Hermya; yes going to sort my bra situation this weekend; I'm living in vests at the moment! I don't know whether to just skip straight to the maternity bras though because even the next size up is beginning to look a bit spilly - over if you know what I mean. Mind you, went to M&S last week and it was a choice of black or white, thoroughly uninspiring
I don't suppose anyone is well versed in where to find pretty maternity bras that aren't going to make me look like someone's nanny or cost an arm and a leg?
Silversky; I hear you with the knickerwatching, I refuse to wear anything but white knickers so I can spot the slightest thing, it's becoming an obsession... I keep having horrible daydreams about like what if I've got it all wrong and it's just a phantom pregnancy? Or I'm just having like an adult - hood growth spurt in the chest department?
By the way, does anyone actually mind if we just stay on here on this thread? There are plenty of other thread of other mothers due in other months; not just us and I'm sure no one actually really cares where you post!

ellabella2 · 18/02/2010 21:01

Jazzie sounds like a fine idea to me to just stay here if that fits with MN ettiquette

JazzieJeff · 18/02/2010 21:05
Biscuit
Hermya321 · 18/02/2010 21:33

Jazziejeff I know I've seen the maternity bras, talk about natural contraception on their own. I'm on with you on the knicker checking as well. It's quite bad when you realise you've been to the loo more to check them rather than out of a need to go to the loo. Mine are getting big, but haven't actually gone anywhere yet (as in making their bid for freedom). I've tried in vein to stay away from the pringles (I've had my tea), but they're calling to me!!

To be honest it suits me fine staying round here, there are other preggers threads on here so shouldn't be a big deal.

I think we're all pretty anxious at the moment. It's early days and everyone is worried that it'll all go a bit Pete Tong. But we'll all get there, one way or the other.

LadyThompson · 18/02/2010 21:38

I was genuinely trying to be helpful and didn't know if you'd seen the thread! I thought it would be nice for everyone to be together, and I didn't know if people realised that that was where all the other month threads are - that's all. Gosh. Actually Ellabella, there AREN'T any other month groups on the pregnancy board, they are all on the antenatal thread. I love the girls that are on my month thread from when I had my DD in 2008, it is really special. Er...but now some of you seem to think I was being bossy or interfering or something and it is actually quite upsetting.

DillyDora · 19/02/2010 10:02

OK, Good Morning Lovely PG Ladies and the first thing I'd like to do is send a big fat hug to everyone including/especially you LadyT and I'm sorry you feel horrid, or that we have been horrid. As someone (whose name escapes me!) said, we are pregnant, lots of us for the first time, and in our self-obsessed pregnancy bubbles and mean no harm. Also I really haven't been on a discssion board before so don't know how these mysterious things work or what matters and what doesn't.

On a really serious (and potentially annoying) note, isn't life hard enough for us right now with first trimester worries and struggling on at work? Let's not fight/be cross with each other/feel hurt here, I have enough fights on the go as it is

Big envy to you hungry folk, I got ravenous yesterday but it's gone again - bah. Dh arrived home last night and found the chocolate and biscuit stash - nibbled and abandoned, he was most amused.

Crampy tum kept me awake most of the night last night and then I realised it's only been going on for about a week, has time slowed down or what?

Sorry for the long post.
xxx

ellabella2 · 19/02/2010 10:06

Oh LadyThompson please don't feel upset. I really don't think anyone here felt that you were being bossy or interfering at all. I'm sure you are totally right in saying that the most appropriate place for this thread would be on the antenatal board. I think it is purely that we feel that we have already formed a connection with those on this thread and joining with another thread would mean a massive group of people that would be really hard to follow or feel a part of.

I know your suggestions have been completely well intentioned and I'm really sorry if you have felt personally 'got at'. I honestly don't think that has been anyone's intentions, certainly not mine at all.Thank you for trying to point us in the right direction and sorry again for any unintentional bad feelings caused. x

ellabella2 · 19/02/2010 10:14

DillyDora you were posting at exactly the same time as me Glad we are of the same sentiment.

I'm so with you on the disappearing ravenous feelings. I've had a few days where my stomach seemed insatiable and then things just go back to normal Of course I then panic and have silly thoughts like it must mean the bean has stopped growing

The last few days I feel like I've not really had any symptoms at all. My appetite is not great and my boobies are slightly tender but that is it. I have a cold so feel rubbish from that but not 'pregnant rubbish' ARRGGHH . . . . I'm driving myself and my DP mad.

DillyDora · 19/02/2010 10:23

ellabella I hear you! I just keep thinking, 'this too shall pass' and trying so hard to focus on other things - not always terribly successful. Don't laugh but I was even thinking of trying to learn to meditate so that the bean could develop inside a more chilled out person!

Hermya thanks for the info about the Omegas, I really seem to have lost all my problem solving skills!

Hi to Edie2010 and twocupcakes - twocupcakes I am in awe of anyone who manages to be pg when they already have kids to look after!! (You too LadyT) How do you do it?!

O yeah, and tummy size, something's up - my jeans are digging in something rotten.
xx

LadyThompson · 19/02/2010 10:32

Well Dillydora, my DD is only 14 months and not too much trouble at the mo though tbh I do wonder how on earth I will manage when I have this new one - I will be having another cs and I'm worried how DD will feel when I can't pick her up for a while...She will be 22 months then and even heavier. This DC wasn't planned actually (wanted a bigger age gap) but I have got over the shock now and have convinced myself it will be nice for them to be closeish in age. It all feels different second time around (or maybe it's my defective memory!) Didn't get morning sickness at all before, now I get a bit sickly. Have another scan on Monday (will be about 8 wks) and will see my consultant. Oh, and if anyone is worrying about having a cs I was happy with mine and am not scared of having another one at all.

I do totally understand that people want to stay here with people they have got to know - as I saw it I was just offering info, though, and got a bit upset with all the as if I was some meddling, unwelcome bore! As others have said, it is a sensitive time, this, so I am very possibly being a bit paranoid. Hope everyone had a pleasant weekend.

LittleDonkin · 19/02/2010 11:10

Hi all I havent posted since the first page I think!

I am now 7+1 and the only real symptoms I'm having are sore boobs and I am quite gassy!!!

I feel like I am on my own as my husband is in Afghanistan for another 6 weeks. I cant wait for him to come home

DillyDora · 19/02/2010 11:14

Hi LittleDonkin I'm really glad you posted again - you've been so much on my mind as dh was away and I thought of you. But then I couldn't remember your name or fish out your post so here you are!

Hope these 6 weeks go quickly for you.

O the gassiness....o yes, o dear....

Hey - as well as everything else does anyone get these pink fluffy moods of 'like hey wow I love everyone I just love them and they're loooovely'? Nice! Though it has resulted in my offering to take on extra work...ahem...

ellabella2 · 19/02/2010 11:54

LadyT that is really reassuring to hear that you didn't get ms at all with your first pregnancy and everything obviously turned out well

Hey LittleDonkin welcome back again Fair play to you for coping without your husband, that must be so hard.

DillyDora I'm afraid I haven't noticed any such overgenerous and loving moods on my own behalf I think I can only be accused of being rather self obsessed at the moment

Lizkin · 19/02/2010 12:01

Hello dear ladies,

It's nice to share feelings and symptoms on here.

FlyingDoll we have the same due date! 13 October. It's also my DH's birthday, so he's looking forward to his present...

I am totally with everyone who is craving stodge and fat! And yes, I have also descended to the depths of eyeing up someone else's lunch! I teach English to adults and gave a lesson in someone's home on Wednesday. When I got there he was a bit late and still having lunch, so he put the rest of his lunch: a salami sandwich - on the table next to him, where it sat for the whole two hour lesson!! I tell you, it took such will power for me not to lean over and grab it. As soon as I got home I made myself an enormous salami sandwich - ahhh!

This might be TMI, but is anyone else horribly constipated too? Awful! And I'm bloated and enormous - I already don't fit into most of my clothes. Admittedly I was already at my 'winter weight' before I got pregnant but was planning to diet in the spring - no hope now, so I just need new clothes!

Right, that's all for now. Oh, except I've also been doing that thing of saying 'this will only be for two months'. Then it gets better, doesn't it? Doesn't it??

DillyDora · 19/02/2010 12:14

Lizkin you make me laugh! No, not constipated - quite the opposite but bloat-tastic, really! Apparently your digestive processes have slowed down because of...something. Good, that was helpful, eh?!

ellabella I am also totally, but totally self-obsessed.

sophieandbelly I read one of your old posts this morning about how you say 'I am making a cup of tea (and I'm pg)' and nearly fell off my chair laughing. So true! Also when I'm talking to people I'm thinking 'Well, that's very nice but I am pregnant you know...'

LadyT soooo...no morning sickness and you had a DD eh? I've always bought into the old wives tale about being sick with girls, has anyone else heard that one?

And if anyone's wondering why I'm posting so very much this morning, it's because I'm supposed to be marking essays on adolescent depression - urgh
