Are these normal or ectopic pregnancy symptoms?

Am really hoping that I am just being paranoid, and could do with some advice. Yesterday and today I have had a nagging pain quite low down on my right hand side. Its not "severe", only about 4 out of 10 pain-wise, but its there all the time when I move about, and gets worse if I am going down stairs. When I'm sitting down there is no pain at all.
I haven't got any bleeding, thank god, but the fact that the position of the pain is so specific is worrying me.
I know I should probably go to the EPU after work, but Im so scared in case its about to all go wrong
Did anyone else have symptoms like this and their pregnancy turned out fine?

my only symptom was a niggling feeling low down on one side. and a feeling that something was badly wrong.

go to the EPU .

how pregnant are you?

butadream · 26/01/2010 12:12

Go to the EPU now pixiestix, sorry, don't want to panic you but if it is ectopic you need to know asap to give you a chance to save the tube.

thedollshouse · 26/01/2010 12:13

I had this until I was about 12 weeks. I'm 29 weeks now.

I would still get it checked out though.

pixiestix · 26/01/2010 12:16

Oh god, sorry I'm only 5 weeks pg, should have said that but am all of a panic. I feel sick with nerves. I want this baby so much.

Hope all OK pixiestix, lots of us sadly know how horrible it is to go through this.

pixiestix · 26/01/2010 12:28

Thank you. I'm going to leave work early and go to the EPU about three o clock. I'll let you know what they say.

PavlovtheCat · 26/01/2010 12:34

yes, i had pain resembling ectopic similar to you, this last pg and i got it checked immediately on advice of gp. Scan showed all was fine and my 8 wk old boy is now sleeping happily if not a bit awkwardly on my chest!

Definitely get it checked. IF, IF, there is a problem, it needs to be dealt with as quickly as possible, but hopefully, and most likely, it is implantation pain and you will be reassured.

Good luck.

butadream · 26/01/2010 17:17

Really hope you are all right pixiestix.

claireinthecommunity · 26/01/2010 17:43

Oh pixie, I've just seen this, hope all is well.

pixiestix · 26/01/2010 18:39

Thanks everyone for all your replies.
I went to the EPU and they took some blood from me. I have to go back on Thursday and, if the HcG in my bloods from today is more than 1000 they will do an ultrasound, if it is less than 1000 then more bloods to compare the levels. The nurse said it could be stretching pains, it could be an ectopic, it could be nothing at all, so just have to wait and see. So have to try and ignore it all for another 48 hours.
At least it wasn't straight-forward bad news - could still turn out alright.

Hi i had this, really bad pain in right side, i was on holiday and in tears cause i thought it was eptopic but all was fine, just stretching :-) good luck

butadream · 26/01/2010 18:59

Thanks for the update pixiestix, I am really glad you are being monitored and hopefully the early scan will be reassuring.

claireinthecommunity · 26/01/2010 19:32

Pixie, I so hope it's the latter for you and as butadream has already said - I'm glad you are being monitored.

fudgecat · 26/01/2010 20:19

i have only just seen this post pixiestix, hope everything is ok for you. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

EccentricaGallumbits · 26/01/2010 21:19

it is good that you are being monitored. try to stay calm and think of the positives for the next 48 hours and good luck for thursday.

pixiestix · 27/01/2010 16:44

Thanks butadream and eccentrica - its so good to be able to come on here and have a panic.

Hiya Claire and fudgecat - sorry I've been a bit absent on the frolickers thread, I kind of want to wait until I know the outcome of this episode.

Well, the EPU just called to say that my HCG is over 1000 so they have booked me in for an ultrasound tomorrow at 2pm. I asked the nurse if the levels were very high - I know that can be a sign of an ectopic - and she said they were "acceptable". So I am trying to take comfort in that, but the very fact they called me when I was supposed to call them this evening freaked me out completely Rather than thinking "What good service" I was thinking "Whats wrong with me, is it an emergency, why are you phoning?"
Must try to chill out! I'll probably be worrying about self-induced high blood pressure next!

Hi Pixiestix I hope that all is ok.

I had a one sided pain in throughout the first 8/9 weeks of this pg, infact it was my first pg symptom. I have a history of ectopic pregnancy so always have to get checked out early and on this occasion it was just that I had cystic corpus luteum from where I had ovulated.
It was a very similar pain to the eptopic though, so its very good that you are getting checked out.

BTW I thought that low hcg levels were more of a sign of ectopic. Mine were very low with my eptopic, but it was also an ectopic miscarriage so that will have affected the hcg levels.

Good luck tomorrow.

muddler · 27/01/2010 20:04

I had an odd pain at that point too and on ultrasound it showed a cyst near my ovary and a sac in my uterus - they kept scanning me until they could see a heartbeat in there! My hospital called me too with results and freaked me out, but they kept saying they take any symptoms seriously. Reassuring I suppose, but it was a Sunday night so I certainly didn't feel reassured at the time!
So the pain was from a cyst all along, apparently pretty common...
Good luck tomorrow

claireinthecommunity · 27/01/2010 20:31

All the best for tomorrow pixie.

And no need to worry about being absent from the frolickers thread - you have other things on your mind!

fudgecat · 27/01/2010 20:46

i'll second that claire

you just look afer yourself pixie and dont worry about us lot. ok?

i will be thinking of you tomorrow and i hope all is ok. x

pixiestix · 27/01/2010 21:39

Thanks guys. After everything that happened with Sevans I want to take no chances, but I also didn't want to upset her with what could just be my paranoia. She has been through so much
I will let you know how it all goes. The Mumsnet book says to expect a vaginal ultrasound, so that will be a new experience for me!

butadream · 28/01/2010 08:41

Good luck today pixiestix

pixiestix · 28/01/2010 19:01

Just to let you all know, the pregnancy is definitely not ectopic! Got scanned today, and they found that everything was in the right place. It was too early on to see the baby or hear a heartbeart, but the yoke sack looked ok. I have to go back in ten days to check again, and see if there is a heartbeat. I was feeling quite good after the appointment, but now the pain is worse than ever so am a bit . Just want to enjoy this!!

butadream · 28/01/2010 19:03

Hurray! Glad all is well but obviously hope the pain goes away soon.
