munz you can have mayonaise hun, as long as it is shop bought stuff and not home made.

cant eat coleslaw - its one thing that is making me sick!

munz · 09/08/2005 17:02

ooh can u really? it's safe with the egg content and all (althou I ate raw cake mix two day b4 I found out was PG!)

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 09/08/2005 17:05

yep - shop bought mayonaise is fine because it is pasturised.

i had raw cake mix when i was pg with Jess too.... oops!!!

munz · 09/08/2005 18:45

ah well, it was only once! might give it a go then with the cheese filling god how I miss it! lol. thankfully DH has sucumbed to the fact there's no BD in this house till 12 week - only 2+3 to go, poor lamb! he's getting suicidal!

yingers74 · 09/08/2005 18:53

cutting back on chocolate??????? I think about 90% of pregnant women have probably gone the other way and increased intake! I gave up tea for a bit but caffine free tea was just foul so after 12 weeks I went back to it, aahhhhhhhh.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 09/08/2005 18:54

cut back on chocolate - not a chance - ive craved it more than any other food this pregnancy.... at least with Jess it was potatoes!!!

dramaqueen72 · 09/08/2005 19:25

chocolate is not on any banned list anywhere! so please ladies dont say so!!! i couldnt get thro the day otherwise!
yingers i always have decaff tea, i swear no-ones ever been able to tell the difference, what brand did you buy??! i was ordered off tea as the tannin in it stops/lowers iron absorbing so well.......but just discovered i quite like it again (first thing i cant bear when pg is tea!) so been having a few cups now and then.
mayo is definately fine, and eggs cooked are fine just not runny whites, tho, 'slightly' runny yellows are apparently okay according to midwife here. not really an egg person so dont care! all my eggs are very cooked in my cakes!

cadmum, am thinking of you as its right now isnt it?????? willing you fabulous news.

Frizbe · 09/08/2005 19:39

Hi all, Nemo n Dramaq, glad scans went well

Cadmum, thinking of you at the mo, as you should be about finished with your scan by now...

Munz, glad eveyones mentioned re the mayo being ok! but did you have to mention the dippy eggs, I sooooo want one of those...sob.....along with a vat of red wine and a lump of saint agur.....ho hum....roll on Feb.....

munz · 09/08/2005 20:32

lol, init just friz!

cadmum - where r u any news?

Cadmum · 09/08/2005 20:38

Thank you all so much for waiting patiently for me to have a chance to sit in front of the computer.

The whole experience was a bit of a nightmare and I was told that I would not be given any information from the sonographer as the results will all be passed directly to my GP or ObGyn. I was then told to read the sign (conveniently located on the ceiling) which confirmed that the woman doing the scan was not allowed to discuss the scan with me.

I found it impossible to read her face... She was concentrating on the screen that was turned away from me and only making the occasional funny face. After what felt like an eternity she actually asked me if my doctor had done a pregnancy test. I was sure that this meant all was going horribly wrong when she comes out with a chirpy : So you think that you are about 9 1/2 weeks, eh? I would have to agree. Want to have a peek? Here's the head, the body, nice strong heatbeat... Can you see the flutter?

I am SO relieved! Thank you all so much for bearing with me through my insane worry and doubt.

george32 · 09/08/2005 20:43

Oh Cadmum, what fantastic news. I am so so pleased. Sounds like a strange system, nothing like making you panic eh?!
So only 2 1/2 weeks to go to 12 weeks - not long at all. Any news on your doppler? I couldn't have done without mine for the last 10 weeks

dramaqueen72 · 09/08/2005 23:16

woohoo! cadmum, so glad you got a peek and all was well. congratulations!

munz · 10/08/2005 09:14

oh yay cadmum what a relief.

romilly · 10/08/2005 11:14

wonderful wonderful news cadmum - all that worrying for nothing, thank god. now you can start enjoying this pregnancy was d/h with you?

thankyou so much everyone for food tips, i reckoned the greek yoghurt would be fine, but just thought i'd check with the experts!

9+5 today - cant wait til friday, ten weeks sounds so much better to me

munz · 10/08/2005 11:16

9+5 eh rom, I know what u mean about friday - double figures YAY!!

Nemo1977 · 10/08/2005 11:24

awwwwwwwwwww cadmum am sooo glad everything went well....its horrible trying to read thier faces while examining the scan isnt it...lol

yingers74 · 10/08/2005 13:32

cadmum - glad it went well and you got to have a peek. But agree with others, a very strange policy. By letting you peek, does that mean she broke the rules?

DQ - tetly, I think the prob was that it was not very strong and I like my tea STRONG!

romilly · 10/08/2005 15:42

in my phased-out sicky state i just did a stupid thing - just eaten a tuna/mayo sandwich from starbucks which i assumed would all be pasteurised mayo (cause all the other sandwiches from there state that they are), on checking the back of the pack just now - after eating both sarnies - it just says egg yolk, not pasteurised, like all the other packets. dammit, im feeling really guilty now. i thought all shop-bought sandwiches were supposed to be pasteurised.

Nemo1977 · 10/08/2005 15:44

Rom am sure iwll be fine..i was another who ate raw cake mix after baking with ds..lol

OP posts:
romilly · 10/08/2005 15:50

thks nemo actually kept it down so far as well, which is a first this week - so am thinking prob. better to let the baby get some well-needed nutrients even there is egg yolk in there IYKWIM!

dramaqueen72 · 10/08/2005 16:06

romilly I think it HAS to be pasturised to be on sale to the genreal public -unless clearly stated otherwise. try not to worry. i have a ds whos just turned 13, when i was pg with him the rules were totally different about what I could and couldnt eat -hes fine, and last baby dd, 11yrs later, following different rules is also fine!!! relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax
ah yingers yes, I dont 'do' strong tea, could be it!
feeling all hyped up emotionally, and just wanted to tell you girls how much I love you, and youre support has been amazing.

dramaqueen72 · 10/08/2005 16:07

and my typing dreadful!

Cadmum · 10/08/2005 16:08

Romilly: I am sure that you (and more importantly, bean) will be fine. With my first 2 I had never heard of any such rules and therefore ate many 'forbidden' foods. (In fact, the GP didn't say a word to me about foods to avoid this time either. )

I am impressed that you managed to keep it down though because just thinking about tuna makes me feel like being sick and I usually love it.

romilly · 10/08/2005 16:15

awwwww dqueen - that is such a sweet thing to say

i dont know where i'd be without all you guys either

cadmum and dq: thanks for the extra reassurance too, and cadmum: i think i spoke too soon, beanie doesnt seem to want tuna today!

dramaqueen72 · 10/08/2005 16:19

i crave tuna...........i ate LOTS more than 'suggested' with dd, and aside from being very brainy and forward thers nothing different about her I try hard to stick to suggested amounts but its very hard when one country they do this, we do that, another country doesnt do either..... .etc......
