Second pregnancies never go overdue, do they?

Go on... humour me

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Ummm sorry no. DD was 7 days overdue and I had a 14 hours labour. DS was 9 days over due and I had a 8 hour labour.

Good luck though. It could happen. Every baby is different.

all 3 of mine were 15 days late but no.2 was quicker and actually did near enough just slide out (was just lucky).

no.3 was an horrendous most painful birth!

hope it is easier and quicker for you and baby isnt to late!

lynniep · 31/12/2009 09:21

mmm, well DS1 was 39+6 ie pretty much bang on - and so was DS2 if we go by my calculations. However if we go by scans... well DS2 was 4 days late. Sorry!!

lilymolly · 31/12/2009 09:38

dd was 13 days late and induced- born in about 8 hours with the aid of an epidural!

ds was 13 days late and induced but came within an hour with no pain relief

Their will NOT be another

HellBent · 31/12/2009 10:24

Ooh I kinda fit the theory-

DC1 7 days late, induced, 5 hour labour, loads of stitches
DC2 6 days early, 2.5 labour, slight graze no stitches (but by no means slid out!)

I hope everything goes well!

SmallShips · 31/12/2009 11:06

I had a nice labour, she didn't exactly slide out, had to push for 45 minutes and labour was 9 hours in total, really was a nice experience though.

She was a week overdue, my 1st arrived on his due date.

sheepgomeep · 31/12/2009 11:09

ds 2 weeks overdue induced 4 hr labour

dd1 went into slow labour 1 day before my due date but didn't go into 'proper labour' 5 days late and a 6 hour labour

dd2 awkward little madam, 1 week over, 17 1/2 hour labour, brow presenting and emergency section. she was also the heaviest by 2 lbs!

No idea what my next one due in may will be!

coldtits · 31/12/2009 11:11

Ds2 went 12 days over, but his older brother went 16.

Ds1 labour = awful inducement nightmare

Ds2's labour = 4.5 hour textbook labour.

MumNWLondon · 31/12/2009 11:13

2nd birth def easier but DD 2 days overdue, and then DS 4 days late. My SIL was induced after 14 days both times, but 2nd birth was easier.

Heated · 31/12/2009 11:22

2nd baby even later to make an appearance and was induced

But labour only was 5hours from start to finish, a much easier birth aided by the guaranteed epidural.

Everything just so much better 2nd time around and so will yours be. Perhaps you ought to have a word with your baby though and tell it to get a wriggle on...

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 31/12/2009 11:27

Barbie i can humour you, my mum has had 5 kids. I was the oldest and 2 weeks late, then with the next 3 each one was earlier and faster than the one before no4 was actually out within 10mins of pushing (my mum hadn't realised she was in labour) baby number 5 had to be induced early for medical reasons.

So yes, your second dc will just slide right out

peppapighastakenovermylife · 31/12/2009 11:32

DS (first DC) was a week early and took 35 minutes to push out.

DD was 3 days late and took 3 hours to push out

Sorry

No stitches with DD though!

Now, if anyone can give me stories about 3rd babies sliding out I would be very grateful

havoc · 31/12/2009 11:33

I was convinced DS would be two weeks early, absolutley convinced. As DD labour was 1.5 hrs I knew it was likely to be another quicky, so never ventured further than the local co-op until he was born, 7 days overdue. It was a very long 3 weeks!!

On the plus side, I became friendly with the ladies at the co-op, though, and three years on they still comment on how much he has grown!

StealthPolarBear · 31/12/2009 11:40

DS was 4 days late, I was sure DD would be on time or early.
DD was 6 days late
Labour was just as painful (both straightforward, textbook labours) but lots lots quicker with DD - from getting to hospital to her being born was about an hour)

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 31/12/2009 11:42

dd 3 days early
ds1 3 days early
ds2 3 days early

MiniMilk0610 · 31/12/2009 11:50

DC1 was 8 days late & horrific 15 hour labour

DC2 due today, & despite evidence to the contrary I've been "expecting" him to arrive ever since I was 37 weeks pg...soooo fed up now just had sweep tho so fingers crossed he arrives earlier than DC1 did...midwife was talking about induction dates if I go that late this time but I refused to listen/contemplate it!!

StealthPolarBear · 31/12/2009 11:51

I know, people keep telling you the baby could arrive "any day" from about 36 weeks - by the time it's your due date you feel 3 weeks overdue

ruddynorah · 31/12/2009 11:54

dd 8 days late, back to back, a few stitches
ds 14 days late!! induction, 4 hr labour, easy peasy, no stitches, not even any deliberate pushing.

Milliways · 31/12/2009 11:58

DD was induced early

DS was 2 weeks late & arrived the day before planned induction. However, he arrived VERY quickly and only needed ONE push (even weighing in at 9lb 6oz)
