EEEEEK! Last night I thought this baby was coming

I'd felt really unsettled and 'emotional' (read, bloody grumpy!) all day and exhausted in the evening.
When I went to bed I kept waking up for no apparent reason, felt really restless and at one point was sick (I think now because I am still fighting off a cough). I had a few period pains but constant not contraction like.
Do we think baby is on the move?! Am due 9th Jan, this is number 2.
I really want to get Christmas done first. Perhaps this was just a mini warm-up...!

If it is coming though it would be the best xmas present

maybebaby23 · 24/12/2009 09:38

I have been the same! Im due 31st dec! I know what you mean about being restless and waking up all the time. I have just felt really "wierd" I can't even tell you what i mean by wierd, just not myself! Ive had period pains and braxton hicks, (tmi) loose bowels and nausea a lot of the time. I really really REALLY don't want baby to arrive on xmas day as it would mean leaving DD1 And i don't want the baby to have to share her birthday with xmas day either. Just want to get through the next 2 days and then she can come whenever!

Good luck to you, i hope things settle until after xmas day!

Tomatefarcie · 24/12/2009 10:11

I'm in the same boat!

I'm due on the 13th, but have been feeling weird all week now. Had erratic superstrength BHs on Monday, then it all stopped, but have been off my food since, tearful and grumpy.

Both my DDs were early arrivals, but like you, I would like Christmas over and done with first! (having to leave DD1 and 2 with Mil is already a very unpleasant thought, let alone on Christmas Day!).

blondiep14 · 24/12/2009 11:40

Ooooh, lets hope there's not 3 Christmas babies en route!!
Am now urgently pressing DP not to drink much over Christmas ! Hopefully him & my Mum will do a rota but I still don't want him tipsy if anything should happen. They might not let him in the delivery room!!

I felt very emotional and 'weird' the day I went into labour both times...

Wanted to hear that didnt you

blondiep14 · 24/12/2009 12:04

gee thanks Peppa!!
Feeling sick but no weirder than normal today so hope s/he's changed her mind!

I feel sick but not that "wierd" today really. Nausea is creeping over me..ugh please please PLEASE dont come on xmas day!! Do you think she can hear me begging or what

newpup · 24/12/2009 12:48

Not sure if it helps but DD2 was due on xmas eve 8 years ago. I felt all the above you describe on the day and was absolutely adamant that I would not have a baby on xmas eve or day then by Boxing day I was desparate to have her. She held on for another 8 days!!

Good Luck!

lolalotta · 24/12/2009 12:49

I have been thinking my baby has been on her way for the last two weeks, period pains, shooting pains, waking in the night and general restlessness! Her due date is actually Christmas Day, so now I am keeping my legs crossed, lol!
Hey Maybebaby, Hope you have a Happy Xmas and you keep those legs crossed too!

HeadFairy · 24/12/2009 12:52

Another one here due in any minute... tomorrow actually (argh!!) Not been feeling weepy or emotional, strangely calm actually, but getting lots of pinging sensations down below which I reckon are bulging waters just waiting for the Queen's speech to break Everything has dropped quite a bit over the last few days, but thank God that means no more heartburn!

maybebaby23 · 24/12/2009 12:53

Hahaha lola Happy due date for tomorrow! And yes keep those legs crossed, i am too

Newpup thanks for that!! im going to keep reading your post over and over and hope mine holds on too!!

newpup · 24/12/2009 15:01

Best of Luck Maybebaby. I am sure it was sheer determination that I was not going to have an xmas baby! I saw a midwife xmas eve as I had lots of pain and she was sure I was going to go into labour! Ha!! Never underestimate a pregnant woman!!!

Am feeling all nostalgic now - can't believe my baby will be 8 next week!

Lots of Luck .

dontrunwithscissors · 24/12/2009 15:03

I also thought I was going to have a Xmas Eve baby - really painful BH's, restless, couldn't sleep last night and super-stroppy all day yesterday. I'm due 11 Jan. I remember feeling like this 1-2 days before going into labour with DD. I'd quite like to hang on to beyond New Year.

maybebaby23 · 24/12/2009 16:08

Ah thanks newpup happy 8th birthday to your DD

blondiep14 · 26/12/2009 13:40

Hope everyone had a great day - did all babies stay put?!

OP posts:
maybebaby23 · 26/12/2009 15:54

Mine stayed put for christmas day (phew) but i think things are starting today!!

Lolalotta started last night i think so she may have a boxing day baby!

Exciting!! How are you blondie?

HeadFairy · 26/12/2009 19:44

Mine stayed put too... still no twinges and the heartburn is back so perhaps baby has moved up a bit... not the direction she's supposed to be going in!!

blondiep14 · 26/12/2009 20:32

Oooh, oooh, what news now Lolalotta & Maybe??
All ok here tho I do feel odd again, and a bit sick too, nothing in the way of real twinges mind so I'll probably be sat here moaning next week!!

HeadFairy · 26/12/2009 22:47

what actually counts as a twinge? I've had some period pain type cramps but they've lasted a while... maybe a couple of hours, much like stretching pains, so I've put it down to that. I've had the runs a couple of times too which my sister swears is a sign too, but lets face it, I've been stuffing my face the last couple of days The only other things I'm feeling are lots of aching in my pelvis and every now and then I'll have a series of BHs every 2 or three mins for an hour or so, then it stops for 12 hours or so... I'm so naive.... I didn't go in to labour with ds so I haven't a clue really

kinnies · 26/12/2009 23:45

I had that HeadFairy

I wouldnt worry untill you have pains you really feel (not ones where you wonder if it was or wasnt) and they come reguarly.

Easier said than done though! I was in and out of hospital lots of times with both Dc!

Good luck {fgrin]

maybebaby23 · 27/12/2009 08:05

Im still here, had another bit of light brown thick mucous this morning! Im assuming its a show, that my cervix is doing "something" lol..although they are supposed to be like jelly arn't they? [clueless emoticon]

Feeling sick and very much like my period is coming..few sharp twinges in my pubic bone too..im thinking i may go in to get checked over later on. Didn't sleep last night and have lost my apetite too.
No contractions though, just lots of pressure and a couple of tightenings. I don't think they were contractions anyway.
I can't wait to meet my baby now! Good luck ladies! And i shall keep you posted!

HeadFairy · 27/12/2009 14:07

thanks for that kinnies... I've had nothing today so I guess that means I'm still not close. Last night I had another series of BHs but this time each time I felt a tightening my poor heart pounded like it was going to burst... it felt like my blood pressure was going through the roof. I swore that if they didn't stop or carried on today I'd call the labour ward but they've all gone, so I guess it was just something odd!

I hope you're ok maybebaby... I have such vivid memories of my sister having her dd1, I sat with her at home until her dh came home from work and she came out of the loo at one point with what looked like a giant blood streaked bogey in a tissue and asked me "is this a show?" I didn't have a clue at the time, never having had babies an all!! What you had sounds very similar... hers came out in one go though, but then she had her dd1 that afternoon, so things were going good and proper

maybebaby23 · 27/12/2009 16:19

I just got back from hospital, went in to be checked over and they said im not dilating but was monitored for an hour and half, and was having regular contractions! I wasn't feeling much at all tbh, just pressure and twinges. But they are not strong enough to dilate my cervix yet.

headfairy, that is what i thought a show looked like! But midwife says some women just get some brown discharge/mucous..seeing as im not dilating im not sure if it actually is a show or just blood from vessels in the cervix being disturbed..

Will wait and see! Shouldn't be far off now!

Headfairy i sometimes get that too with BH, i feel like my heart is pounding and quite breathless!

HeadFairy · 27/12/2009 17:26

how frustrating maybebaby, contractions and no dilation!

I'm glad I'm not alone in the odd breathlessness with BHs

HeadFairy · 27/12/2009 17:36

Sorry, had to dash off a ds was climbing a bookcase! Maybebaby, did your contractions feel like contractions... coming and going in that contraction kind of way? I have continuous period type pain at the moment, have had it on and off for a week now, to me it feels like stretching uterus type pain, but I've never been this far in a pregnancy before so I don't know if it's the start of things....
